I've been living under a rock for eternity, when did romhacking unkilled itself?
>>12250870iirc they kept eyeing successor websites which kept cannibalizing each other so they slowly undid parts of the main site (news, submissions, reviews, etc) until it more or less got restored. There's a schism anyway because some people are very unhappy with the fakeout.
>>12250870Around February 2025.Coincidentally, around that time, the original RHDN staff finally opened their own ROMHacking site (romhack.ing) and NeoROMhacking.net (a site intented to become RHDN succesor that was even given a shoutout by Nightcrawler) announced it would cease development and stay as a forums-only site.
Classic Diablo 2 has some shitty items, holy shit.I woulda made a /CBG/ but I don't have the pastebin anymore but we can discuss blizzard games here if you want, i know the threads have been dead for awhile but i haven't stopped playing 1.05b and other classic blizard games.Current level is 31 and just been leveling in act 4 normal because nm sucks for exp specially when I keep getting raped by quill rats.

>>12243124> there is still a major visual bug where the paladin appears like a bl*ck personmy dude, i kinda want to buy it now solely to submit this in a support ticket
>>12249039People just whine about bugs even long after they're widely accepted. Blizzard especially has a long history of just letting the bugs incorporate themselves into the charm of the gameplay. In StarCraft, air units can all wad up, lurkers can stack, workers can too for a drill. It's just part of the game even though some people bitch. The Paladin bug is widely accepted but there's always people who get mad when remakes/remasters retcon stuff.
I am about to try the original Sid Meier's Colonization, what are your thoughts on it? and other older strategy games you like? My absolutely favorite is Master of Orion 2
>>12247727>I feel like a lot of the gameplay involves very slowly shuffling around boats and wagons with itemsYou're supposed to let the computer do most of your moving, only taking manual control when it gets stuck in a loop or otherwise goes stupid. The only reason to manually control a boat is to explore or going pirating. With proper road routing, you should never need to manually move a wagon train. You should just be able to setup the trade route and then forget about it.
>>12249203OK thanks. Maybe it's the game difficulty I'm on (second to lowest) but I just find that "not much" is going on in my game. I am maybe two hours into my latest game and zero threats have occurred so far. I am scouting around for Indians, trading with some of them, I've got 3 settlements up now. My first settlement is pumping out Liberty Bells and Cloth, and the other two are sort of miscellaneous right now. I'm a little confused on how to use Pioneers but to your point I should probably be making Roads with them (and then also clearing Land with them). Do you guys "specialize" each town of yours to do specific things? Do you tend to buy a second ship early on? Build many Wagon Trains and send them between your towns and out to Indians? I did just find two huge things of Treasure and now trying to buy a Galleon.
>>12249258It's part of the fun, but COL makes vertical development very elaborate and difficult. Wanting specialists of all sorts: farmers, fish, lumberjacks, miners, carpenters, statesmen, pioneers & tools, just to keep a colony place afloat.Meanwhile... a town's map tile produces food without needing a farmer, so you can have 1-pop resource colonies spread all over the place, easy as just moving some dude onto some square and pressing B.So in conclusion, a good way to address the build-up challenge is to have multiple 1-pop colonies supporting a town with resources. You can use a ship or, soon, wagons to get food and raw mats to the city.

How far have you gone to satisfy it?
>>12247810Not really, I won't play paddle games without a paddle controller but I think that's pretty normal
>>12247810Depends on how unique the console's authentic controller is. >Nes, Master System, PC-Engine The layouts are similar so my criteria is they're just 2 buttons and a proper dpad (that disqualifies the Master System's first party controller)>Mega drive, SaturnI'll use the saturn 2D controller as that's my favourite controller and it's similar enough to the MD's 6 button controller>snes, PlayStation, xboxControversially I'd use a Gulikit Elves pro, because it's basically the same layout as the SNES and PlayStation, but with the Saturn-like shape and d-pad I prefer. Xbox is "close enough" as games for the xbox were often intended to be multiplats on the ps2 anyway.>Gamecube, N64, DreamcastThey're unique enough that it feels wrong to give them a generic modern-style controller - but I also don't like the original controllers either. So I go with the Retro Fighters' ones that try to find a compromise that still feels somewhat "authentic".>Shmups and fighting games (regardless of console)A general purpose arcade stick
I use PSX/PS2 pads for almost everything but I did buy a 50$ adapter from raphnet to use an NES pad on PC which I use for everything that doesn't require more buttons
use 8bitdo SN30 (replica SNES controller) for NES/SNESuse 8bitdo M30 (replica saturn controller) for genesisuse xbox controller for PS1/6th gen+would like to get at DS4 at some point for PS1/PS2. and then also something like a brawler for N64 games.
>>12249727I guess it was devs just getting used to it and not realizing what people outside of the developers would think. I'm not sure how long square button Famis were on the market, but it seems like Nintendo switched to the plastic circle buttons pretty quickly.

Forget dipcord, IRC, or whatever.Hop on Fightcade and play Twinkle Star Sprites instead.
>>12250692I often go to fightcade to play coop, but I refuse to play VS stuff. Everytime I try to jump into it I end up getting stomped by 10k hours playtime players and called shitter. I know that, cus I created a few alt accounts to play 3rd strike, Magical Drop 3 and TSS and it's so funny how many players sit there just fishing for newbies.

What /vr/ games are more known for their development builds than for their retail releases?
>>12247638hmi might look like this
>>12247625>What /vr/ games are more known for their development builds than for their retail releases?A pre-release version with unfinished features and bugs of the DOS version of Powerslave was leaked a few months before release of the game due to one of the dev sending his computer to a repair shop and a worker there leaking the game. This version really damaged the game since it has since then been the most common version to find on pirate sites and even "abandonware" sites up until the recent remaster.

>>12249879what mario game is being referenced? to my knowledge, the only rpg games recently released was mario rpg remake, and ttyd rerelease. i dont remember if those released in the past year, or past 3 years, because my sense of time has been quite hazy lately, and i didnt play either of those since i played the originals. regardless, i addressed them both. nobody gives a shit about mario. theres nothing "revolutionary" about timed hits, and its only a small part of any game.

By the way, I thought I'd run this up the flagpole, see who salutes; I've discovered a bunch of tie-in novellas/novels for various /vr/ games, and I thought it might be fun to have a sort of book club, maybe start it in January. Basically, I'd start the thread, post a few chapters every day to give everyone time to read/discuss the story so far. I was thinking of having it be a weekly thing, maybe fortnightly if people prefer to space things out.Either way, I wanted to see what game people wanted to start off with, so I picked out a selectionhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZP7vWiaxw7YGiven how the latest game in the franchise has gotten everyone thirsty af, I thought it'd be fun to look back to where it all began with the novelisation of the first Baldur's Gate as well as the BG2 novels. The reading level is par for any D&D novel i.e. teenagers and above, and there's three of them.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xqf8jID9TsEYes, this had tie-in books. Again, there's three of them, but these were for a younger audience, aimed at kids who were getting confident reading, so they should be the easiest to get throughhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G-i8HYi1QH0Yeah, I had to include this motherfucker. The reading level is somewhere between the two above options. There are four novellas, all about the length of a Goosbumps book.https://strawpoll.com/QrgewGRaKyp
Im pretty sure this is the same backstory they made for the UK sonic comic.
>>12250431>Run it up the flagpole and see who salutes.Wow, that's a phrasing I haven't heard in a hot minute.Honestly wouldn't be against it, though I haven't been reading as much in general as of late so no idea how well I'd stay on top of it

The thinking man's Classicvania.
It's also the only piece of castlevania media that properly transliterates the Fernandez clan name. Belnades is bullshit.
>>12248903Legacy of Darkness features visible updates that change each character's weapon/main attack after obtaining a morning star power-up. Reinhardt begins with his bullwhip, progresses to a level 2 chain whip, and ultimately wields an awesome-looking level 3 laser/lightning whip. The sub-weapons can also be upgraded and have visible effects as well; the level 3 Axe and the Holy Water are fucking busted.
