My company started experimental use of ai agents for legacy projects. the aim is to speed up upgrades making the ai read the entire codebase for me and then applying the required changes. it's a double edged things tho. both convenient and dangerous if you don't know how to use it. for example asking too much will make the agent run out of resources making it hallucinate and writing bullshit that will break your code. using a fast sprints approach as if you were giving tasks in step to a new hire instead sped up the progress greatly. I did in a single day what I'd have to do manually in a work week. I dread the future once this project will be over since I will probably have to go back to coding manually. I am considering buying a year of claude code for personal use simply to make my coding life at work less stressful now. Ever since I started doing code reviewing instead of actual coding the amount of stress from deadline has greatly decreased. I know people like to meme that AI will steal our jobs but maybe having a code agent companion I can guide via prompt isn't so bad

Why were they underperformant? The lisp paradigm is not a good fit for actual computing.

>It makes no sense why you must single numeric operators in a coherent system
Because arithmetic uses infix notation and having to switch to polish notation is annoying

>maybe you think c is just a larp too
Unlike haskell and lisp, C has demonstrated extreme utility. Don't compare the two lol.

Look, there's nothing wrong with having a silly hobby. I was just wondering if you guys were able to admit that's what lisp is.

update: not going well.
- Rackets sequences/streams support is workable, but less terse than Clojure's transduction system
- Racket's `apply` (and some other functions) expect a list, where Clojure's apply relies on its sequence abstraction, leading to Racket having less versatility.

pic related is a lib I like to port to new languages that I am trying out.

Funny beard guy does mildly amusing things. Funny beard guy is so funny. Funny beard guy is so hilarious, you couldn't even begin to comprehend how hilarious he is. It's not that big of a fucking deal. Why don't you shit on Stallman? Or Torvalds? Or someone who actually fucking matters? Ebassi is a random dev who got off center by a little bit. That's the beginning and end of it. Now pack up your shit and leave.
It wasn't funny the first time. It isn't funny now. It won't be funny on the n'th occasion, or the n+1'th occasion, or the n+2'th occasion, or...you get the idea.
In other words:
SHUT THE FUCK UP.

It always tickles me that AI fags pretend they have any technical skills. They larp hardcore and call other people "luddites" despite having been completely unable to do anything until it came down to "press the button." It's why they lash out so hard; they know their position is incredibly flimsy. Knowing that no matter what, they'll always be at the bottom brings me so much pleasure.

Without the input image to ground the generation the AI image would look like dogshit at best. I mean this is basically just copying a drawing. Even if you terrible at it, you can still often produce a decent result, now try to do the thing from scratch, yea no.

saying that the context is retarded just show you have no idea what you are talking about
it's like being annoyed that you pass pointers in C instead of copying everything everytime
$scalar here is a ref to the hash
obviously you need to dereference a reference which is done by using that data type sigil (% for hash, @ for list, $ for scalar)
you named the variable like a retard, what you got was a $ref or $hash_ref if you will
in C and Perl you have explicit control over passing data by value or pointer/reference (it's called pass by value as well, but value being a pointer/reference), so instead of passing sizeof (type) * length you just pass an address and you just pass sizeof pointer/reference which is just a number, not the whole fucking hash

When will we have actual, functional Star Trek "Computer, do what I want" style AI?

Example:
>Computer, find me that thread on /g/ that I meant to reply to but forgot, it has a post that says something like XYZ and an image that kind of looks like so-an-so in it
and it can do it.
or
>Computer, filter all posts that look remotely like a soijak

When do we get something that is directly integrated with our daily tasks and can do shit for us with only basic abstract instructions?

>inb4 ai deletes your hard drive
obviously some safeguards are requisite
Right now, most AI I see are dedicated to generating images or answering technical questions/generating code. I want AI to just greatly improve the efficiency of every single stupid thing I waste time on during the day, even if it's only like 80% accurate.

How bumpy is space?
While driving I have trouble hitting shit on the screen if the road is even a bit bumpy or if I have to steer the car. The climate control has buttons for everything so I don't even have to look, meaning I can adjust while steering, and I can physically touch the button to locate it before pressing it.

To be fair apple had automatic email responses that took voice input and dictation, and would announce when and from whom you’ve received mail as far back as 2006. My buddy from achool’s father was an apple rep for a computer store so he got the retatdefly expensive stuff comparatively cheaply. Voice to text and text to voice was basically solved almost two decades ago, but only for niche or very specific contexts. It’s the generalizing that has proven difficult.

Don't buy anything OTHER THAN IBM/Lenovo ThinkPad T, X, and W/P Series if you want the Real Business Experience™
>Other business laptops are welcome in /tpg/ (Dell Latitude/Precision, HP EliteBook/ZBook)

Why ThinkPad?
>Used machines are plentiful and cheap
>Excellent keyboards, tactile feel and quiet + the TrackPoint
>Great durability: magnesium roll cage for structural integrity, with high quality plastic body panels
>Utilitarian design: e.g. indicator LEDs, 7 row keyboard layout on older models
>Docking stations that easily turns your laptop into a desktop
>Easy to repair (most models), upgrade & maintain thanks to readily available service manuals for every model, spare parts easy & cheap to obtain
>Excellent Linux & *BSD support

Its a piece of paper. Get a T16G Gen3 instead, its basically a P16 Gen3 without the ISV Certification which you will never need unless you're a highly paid engineer on an oil rig.
