Historically, the NSA has influenced the development of standards to maintain a technological able to exploit them. Wouldn't it make sense to have a focused front on making Rust out to be unnecessary tranny tech since organisations like the NSA benefit from stockpiling mountains of run-of-the-mill, buffer-overflows? Not to mention they would by now have incredibly sophisticated tooling to discover more of these exploits. If software were to migrate entirely to Rust, an entire capability disappears. Modern cryptography is already good enough that the only way to attack it is indirectly, through side-channels. Having an implementation of Tor in Rust would be a nightmare for the NSA.

Say I want to burn Spirit OS or Tiny Core Linux to a CD. That's 30 MB or 200 MB. For storagemaxxing, how could I use up the free 400 MB on the disc? Maybe a mixed mode disc, multiple partitions / file systems, or multiple tracks? All this has to be done at burn time. After burning, it's probably read-only if CD-R.
>>107532608Prefaced the body of that post with "In Linux, ". Response from duckai:>Use burning software (like K3b, Brasero, or cdrecord) to create a mixed-mode disc. You'll typically set your data track first, followed by audio tracks. So with Linux software I can create a mixed mode CD: Linux OS data then audio tracks. (How about Linux OS data then whatever data?) Would that still be bootable? Could I install an OS with that CD? Don't have the command I normally use right now, some CD writing program: something like "cdrecord -speed 8 -i gnulinux.iso -o /dev/sr0".
>>107530310its so crazy how so few people actually use window managers, but the loud obnoxious retards promoting them online you would think 50% of the userbase was on themarch is the exception because a lot of turbo autists use it
Just use mint.People use mint because it has a driver manager with one click button nvidia install, software manager, software sources manager, update manager. It just werks.People don't use debian because it has none of that and its terminal based.Year of the linux desktop is here, it's mint XFCE+X11. My only gripe is the linux devs not theming mint like pic related out of the box because they are tasteless weirdos who wouldn't know good UI if it hit them on the side of the head despite mint trying to be a drop in replacement for windows 10. It's like they dont want people to switch from windows 10 and want to make their desktop as ugly as possible.Good thing they make good GUI software though so it makes up for it. I just use cubic to customize the mint XFCE iso, remove all the modern mint-Y themes and default everything to dark. This is the ISO I give to family and friends on a usb as a drop in replacement for windows 10.
For some reason, KDE randomly gets stuck thinking that I'm holding down left mouse, but only on the desktop. How the fuck do I get it to stop without restarting?
