Different defaults, different tooling out of the box
Mint doesn't even have the same repo as ubuntu
>>
>>107859108
If you look at the GUI updater, every time an update pops out, it'll show you several packages held hostage from updating behind the pro loicense.
How do I know? My stupid jobs forces us to use either win 11 or Ubuntu, since I ain't using wangblows I'm forced to put up with that massive turd.
>>
I figured ubuntu was for normies because everyone always talks about it so i went with fedora kde and it is excellent
>>
>>107858840
I went with Cachy as my first distro. Was gonna go with mint but apparently X11 doesn't work well with a dual monitor setup if each monitor has a different refresh rate. Wayland handles this without issue.
I don't see myself distrohopping anytime soon. But when I upgrade my PC in around a year or two (total new build, my current PC has has zero upgrades in almost 10 years) I'll probably try a new distro.

You're just not disruptive enough for the state to care. Everybody does illegal shit, but you can't litigate the whole populace.
Every time someone chimps out and shoots up a Denny's the police had mountains of evidence on file but didn't so shit because catching people who send their kids in the wrong school is more lucrative for the state. As long as you're not costing people money, nobody cares if you're breaking the law.

I'm fucking tired of having to live in constant never ending fear and paranoia that the smartphone I use is listening and photographing and recording everything I do and sending that to American megacorporation who sends it to killers agencies who use the biggest supercomputers in the world now to build profiles of my entire being since I was a kid, and that I can't go outside to the city ro get anything done or travel without local surveillance cross referencing that, or all the shit I have done online since 11 years old being collected up, every tidbit of personal info that might be leaked or casual chat recorded.

I can't fucking take it anymore, I can't sleep or eat comfortably knowing this and I fucking hate that I didn't even have the strength to try and reduce the rape by rooting my phone or some shit so I at least have a MOMENT where it feels like I can truly be alone. And even then all my Discord use with friends will haunt me forever knowing they scan all that shit for years now and the fact I had/have used google/microsoft emails for IRL stuff and so did my parents. Why can't I just fucking erase and delete it all like I planned to in 2022 and stop worrying, forget and move on? I have too much fucking baggage from my digital footprint even if I disconnect, my info is out there.

I feel like a prisoner without being one.

I'm the testing lead for this new medical application and as usual we don't have enough time to really give the app the level of thorough testing that I would want. Management knows it too, but "it is what it is" so me and my fellow testers are just getting ground down by the contradiction.

How many containers and what services?
I'm currently at over 40 containers
>I woun't host a slopbot, so LLM bros gtfo
I'm thinking of getting a cheap accelerator, and having a basic bitch llm running ollama not so i can generate porn but because my inventory management service has a plugin that supports locally hosted AI via ollama
>I'd like further suggestions from here
Firewall, netowork managed UPS, network managed switched PDU, some tiny low powered box that hosts basic shit like DNS as well as keeps your public DNS records up to date. config store, forgejo, authentication server, credential manager, etc...
>>
>>107856276
It's in progress because I haven't set it up yet, I'm trying to figure out how to configure the software for my purposes.
Kubernetes, docker and simular software seem to be made with cloud computing in mind ( or "microservices" as they call them ), and I need it to run scientific computation.
I have 2 threadrippers 3970x on Gigabyte TRX40 aourus masters with 512 GB DDR4 RAM total, currently one is my PC and the other I use for the long-running programs, been trying to link them up.
The server's got a dual epyc setup (woun't be used in the cluster).
>>
>>107857000
And desu this much ram is a waste on both of them, max usage I ever get is 100 GB use when I fuck up.

>>107856276
Also thx for the suggestions, I'll look into them

More frames is gooder. However the jump from 144Hz to 240Hz is not particularly dramatic, and faster monitors (360Hz, 500Hz or more) are generally esports-tailored and quite expensive.
For office work IMO it's fine to stick to 144Hz until the higher refresh rates trickle down into becoming more common, unless money is no object. If it's not then more frames is gooder, if there's any point where this stops being the case then we haven't reached it yet and it'd be somewhere past 1000Hz at least.

The only thing to keep in mind is diminishing returns. Doubling the refresh rate is always going to be good; but going from 60 to 144 is a nearly 2.5x increase while 144 to 240 is merely a 1.6x increase which is far less dramatic.

For as long as I can remember - and I'm a zoomer, but I've been online for probably ~15 years by now - it has been known as a hobby for geriatric boomers. If it already had a reputation for being mostly populated by 60 year olds a decade or two ago, by now those 60 year olds are going to be 70-80 years olds.

It's also expensive and niche and technologically useless. IMO it fit perfectly into the specific generation that grew up with the early spread of digital technology, where signal processing and homemade radios became widely accessible, digital/technological knowhow started becoming common, but modern internet communication hadn't yet swallowed everything. It also coincided perfectly with baby boomers living in a time of plenty and having generally cushy retirements.
Nowadays ham radio is basically useless given how over-regulated it is; if you're a schizo and want open communication you're way better off with something like LoRa.

Honestly now that I think about it lora is probably the modern ham, you could try getting into it if you want to. It's the same hobby that's just entirely about talking to people for the sake of having an interesting technological communication method, except it's not regulated to all fuck like normal radio transmission.

i have an hp laptop and for whatever reason the bang & olufsen control panel makes the audio stop working, it starts working again if i go into task manager and close the process. But there is a scheduled task or something that keeps starting it every 10 minutes or so. I can't uninstall it because it also uninstalls the driver too. is there some way to search scheduled tasks because this is pretty obnoxious

you just start doing it and once you fail you redo it with the knowledge you learnt, whats important is that you dont get stuck in conceptland
>>
>>107858607
Start simple. At first, choose some very basic features that will you'll be sure to regret not doing in the future. Then you keep adding more features if you can get away with it. Unfortunately, you will have to refactor some things at some point, it's impossible to tell what you really need from the get go, especially if you don't have a strong vision for your game right now (no one does).
