The "slop" IL finetunes have gotten very good for specific styles, WAI is a very good all rounder, but One Obsession or Hassaku are the new hotness or Neta Yume Lumina if you have the time and VRAM. It's a good time to be a degen.

How old were you when you realized all the bickering over which "distro" is best is for linux noobs

When did you realize that most distros are just different coats of paint of the same 3 linux flavors?

Idk, around 20? I realized that it was more about what you're using it for. But it's all pretty much the same, just different defaults for some small things. These days it's completely irrelevant though, there is basically Gentoo for source based, Qubes for secure desktop, everything else is pretty much the same and the only real difference between them is how "stable" the packages are in their repos.

Former longtime tumbleweed user here.
Stay away, ever since that rotting flesh stunt they pulled development has been fucked, they are in the middle of removing yast and have been doing a horrible job with package management. They can't even do basic stuff like handle nvidia open drivers something fedora because they don't know how to keep the driver and cuda versions together in the same package. Also they are outright abandoning yast which was the main draw of tumblweed because they didn't maintain it for years and now it's a broken mess.

It's actually understandable.
I explained my situation to them and they let me go.
I would always expect to get grilled like a mf if you're booking a one-way to the US.
Although I'm white and this was pre-Trump era too, so I can acknowledge that I could have been profiled in a 'positive' manner and that other people might get different treatment.

That's how I see him too. He comes up with the most retarded doomed to fail products and can't read a room for this life. Only thing he accomplished was getting people to use facebook and then hiring engineers to target them with ads.

>pop os on a server
At the time, the only gpu I had access to was a 550ti, which wouldn't work with ubuntu's gui. I asked here and pop was recommended because of the inbuilt nvidia support. I've since upgraded to a 3090 and am ready to move on. Still love it on desktop though.

>>106752327
Thanks

>>106752344
My server renders after effects and runs my ai shenanigans on the 3090, has a 64TB RAIDZ2 pool for work, and moonlights as a minecraft server. EVERYTHING goes in and out through wireguard, and much of it runs in a vm. I can't get pop to stop overwriting my nftables no matter what I try though.

Ubuntu is much easier to configure and comes preconfigured a lot better than Debian which is why I say Ubuntu derivatives are better for beginners.

There was an old joke that Ubuntu is African for "Can't configure Debian".

I would say debian is a bit slow for people that start out. They don't appreciate what it offers and are most likely chasing the purple dragon because of gaming. When your hardware is more mature is when debian really shines but people are still conditioned to chase bleeding edge.

it's in redhat's interest to get a stranglehold on the linux ecosystem to maintain control over their enterprise/government contracts. there is no need to pontificate on what is good or not good for the user for a kernel that is used by tech savvy people or IT.
this is why insufferable people like ebussy exist at gnome because he gets it
