Google works so nice guys

it is almost impossible to get English results if you are in a Spanish speaking country. It's like they're trying to segregate us and keep us out of the international Internet

The price of a 1080p panel so around 40-50€ probably. You could also look for older models that aren't at all worse (T490, T480s) but could be cheaper. Every T480s has at least 1080p IPS, unlike T490/T14G1.
>>
>>108352314
Prices in my country are weird, you can find T14 and T480/90 in the same ballpark

need some recommendations for a $150-200 linux laptop for mostly browser stuff, light coding (hobbiest), and 2010 era videogames with a 1080p screen. im thinking 8-16 gbs of ram 512 gb ssd 1080p screen and a decent (ish) cpu
my current front runners are a t14 with an R5 460u 16gb 512 ssd at $153 w/ shipping
or an elite book 845 G8 8gb 256 ssd with an R5 5650u at $180 w/shipping
this isnt an urgent buy so if its a good idea to sit around a few weeks and wait for a good deal you recommend i can do that, but i know basically nothing about the laptop scene so ill take any advice

>The tablet should ship with a 12-inch 1600 x 2400 Gorilla Glass IPS touch-screen with stylus support and 4096 pressure levels. Radios include Wi-Fi 6E, GPS and Bluetooth 5.3, as well as hardware privacy switches. 5G support has yet to be confirmed, but is likely to be provided through an external module, and there are a range of accessories promised, including folio cases and keyboards.

>Like the Brax3 before it, the Open_Slate differentiates itself by supporting multiple operating systems, including Ubuntu, Ubuntu Touch, Debian, iodeOS, Lineage OS, and the company's own BraxOS.

>The Open_Slate should be equipped with a range of IO, including 2x USB Type-C, with one supporting Display Port 1.4.

>The addition of a PCIe Gen 2 M.2 socket should open the door to a range of fast storage options (in addition to the Micro SD slot), enabling easy dual-boot support. A user-replaceable battery highlights a focus on sustainability and right-to-repair, at least as long as parts remain available for purchase.

Hey, if (You) don't like something, (You) don't have to use it. There are always alternatives, it's in the nature of free and open source software, to be forked. Don't like Systemd? Don't like Wayland? Don't like GNU? There are plenty of options, just don't play dumb.

In all honesty, I know more about linux than you ever will. It’s great on servers, but there’s no advantage to using it over Windows for the desktop.
>>
>>108352640
Nice! And yes, I agree... it's great for servers. My homelab is running debian for back ups and selfhosting.
>no advantage to using it over Windows for the desktop.
I feel like if you care about privacy, Linux and BSD are the only options. The only thing I really had to give up, were Kernel Anti Cheat Games, but I didn't play much LoL anyways. All my private machines are running Linux now and I got a company issued Laptop for Work with W*ndows, 365 and proprietary client management software.

Before I'd go back to Windows, I'd rather switch to an M-Series Macbook. Windows is a joke.

I can confirm. My Firefox crashed twice a day, and RawTherapee sometimes froze. I ran Memtest86+ just for fun, and after a few seconds, red [FAIL] appeared. I replaced my faulty 8 GB DDR3 RAM with a secondhand (but new, factory-sealed) 16 GB DDR3 RAM, and I haven't experienced any crashes on my Ubuntu since then.
>>
>>108338861
if blaming Intel is correct, then Apple Silicon Macs should have lower rates of memory-related fuckups. I hear they don’t have _all_ of ECC’s fuckery protection, but they have some.
Do Apple Silicon Macs have fewer general memory errors?

the difference is that they had no use for it themselves. and while sure getting popular thing because it's popular thing is pretty normal, that's not enough of a reason by itself considering how expensive it was. again we weren't rich. the house i grew up in was made in the late '50s, complete with external wood fired heater for hot water. my parents drove cars from the '80s (my dad upgraded to a second hand one from '96 later, but when i left home in 2010 my mum was still using that '80s car), etc. not to sound like i'm complaining or anything, i enjoyed going with my mum to garage sales and flea markets, they're where i picked up all my early computer parts and stuff (i had a room full of old computer parts before the family computer)

same, I remember my parents taking money from my piggy bank to buy smokes and hocking the TV to make rent and never owning anything better than a second hand magna.
