Why has no big brand succeeded in the e-ink tablet space?
Huawei and Lenovo tried and abandoned their products
Amazon has the Kindle Scribe series but it's Amazon
Boox has nice hardware and features but typical Chinese brand software longevity
Suprenote is meh
Remarkable is trying to be Apple too hard

>Surely a reflective LCD still needs a constant supply of power supplied to it?
They do, but power usage has never been the main selling point of e-ink devices, it's always been the paper like qualities. And RLCD displays are not going to be using as much power on backlighting/frontlighting as the typical backlit LCD's are.
>>107831648
>Why do RLCD have such low resolutions compared to coventional backlit LCD?
Unless there is a technical detail causing this that I'm not aware of, this is merely about RLCD being a niche product.
>What remains to be seen is how much color-particle based e-ink can be improved.
I don't have much hope regarding color e-ink, to be honest. There is no indication that e-ink will ever be capable of magazine level color reproduction.
>>
>>107838357
Look at Spectra 6.
Maybe it's not magazine level but it's a whole lot different from Kaleido.

I thought this too when i saw the date on my ereader. Its change log is vague, only thing it says is "security and stability" or something to that effect. Features that were in beta 10 years ago are still in the beta tab, there are no perceivable changes. In fact, the only thing that has changed is that i can no longer access the sync feature or the kobo book store from the reader. Just fails it every time. So yeah, surprising to see it was updated as recently as a few months ago only to have nothing different and less features working on it. Doesn't really mean much does it?

Again, my original point was that i think it's actually crazy that this ancient device is barely any worse than something i just purchased in Amazon that released this last year. Its hard to believe so little has changed performance wise.

other companies already struggle to create decent speakers, now imagine having to do all of that with the most horrific constraints, then pile on some needed dsp compensation for all operating conditions, then pile on car safety standards and practices. the room is fucked, the positions are fucked, everything is a mess, getting things to sound clear is a big task already.
>>107839747
i agree, they just shouldn't be used for "calibration" or reference purposes in most cases. there is some cool stuff being developed (mostly dsp side) but for most consumers i think headphones and iems are the best options overall

>Headphones are usually the gateway to hifi speakers though
speakers are so based, the amount of people who want them is so small that only the giga expensive stuff holds any actual value, or new shit(sometimes)
so you can buy things that were like $400 per speaker for like $50 quite commonly or get them for free
t. paradigm monitor 7 v2 owner for $50 cad
I got a pair of energy 22s for almost free with bad tweeters tho, sadly one fucking guy in the entire world has the equipment to fix them and its $200 a tweeter so i don't even know if it's worth it

Radio, radar (including SAR and weather radar), SIGINT, direction finding/tracking, new modulations, (high speed) Morse code, being social, competitions and more. The FAQ covers this too.

The Sovereign Tech Agency (Germany) funded $562,800 (half a million) worth of development on ALPM (Arch Linux Package Management) work. That work was focused, almost entirely, on creating “Rust libraries and tools” for Arch package management which “aims to maintain compatibility with pacman”. As of this moment, the Rust ALPM has not replaced Pacman entirely. But common sense would indicate that replacement is a goal (otherwise the heavily funded development would be nonsensical).

By the way, existing Arch package management tools (such as Pacman) are licensed under the GPL. The new, Rust-based libraries and replacements are licensed under the MIT license.

Go to rtings, choose any OLED review, scroll down to OD transition 0 to 31, observe the flickering. Yes, OLED has this problem on displaying low brightness values lile 31rgb on a per pixel basis. So some pixels might go 255rgb full brightness white while simultaneously the darker parts of the screen flicker in the refresh rate interval. And since the refreshrate is not above 3000Hz this flickering is making your eye muscles spasm like a virgin in an orgy

I have all sorts of wrappers that run local apps

for example typing "spongebob" runs
setsid ~/Applications/mpv-master/build/mpv --auto-window-resize=no --autofit=55% --force-window --shuffle ~/Videos/Spongebob >/dev/null 2>&1 &

to auto play spongebob episodes in mpv. Plenty of more wrappers like that and I don't need sudo.

>Song submission rules/guidelines
Upload the file somewhere, preferably in a lossless format, and post the link here. If you want to update your track, make a new post.
Include the song title in the post, and make it clear that your song is a submission for the album.
Optionally you may include cover art for your track, but please confirm that the image in your post is the cover art or it won't be included. You may not use your real artist name.
Songs that contain anything against YouTube's policies won't be uploaded on YT, but will still be added to the album.
By default, tracks will be normalised to -14 LUFS (integrated loudness) in the release. You may specify a lower loudness for your track.
Use of AI is banned. This includes AI generated stems, samples, and effects. "AI" includes all neural network-based models and not hard-coded automation/procedural generation. You are allowed to ask an LLM about music-related questions, but asking it to give you musical ideas (eg. generating a chord progression) is already a no-no.

Java's entire schtick is that it's cross platform. C# only exists on windows desktop (desktop is a tiny fraction of the software market) and windows server (windows has a small minority share of the server OS market)

Easiest way to tell the 14.1" and 15" apart from pictures is the width of the keyboard bezels.

You can swap the 14.1" and 15" motherboards between shells if you need to - the boards themselves are identical, there's a little extension daughterboard that lets the ports reach in the 15".

The real prizes are the IPS/AFFS panels in the 15" models. They look gorgeous.
