I'm trying to make sense of my earlier drunk shitpost and your serious reply to it and I think what I meant by "upsampling to make it more smooth" is basically dithering in the video you linked.
>>
>>107818605
>mental illness or non-working software
>>
>>107818654
You need dithering when you decrease bit depth to preserve the audio content from the lost bits. Simply adding dithering to a file will just raise the noise floor. You will need dithering if you're converting from PCM to DSD but it won't make it smoother, it will make it the same as PCM. When audiophile say oversampling makes things smoother they usually mean it makes the digital "stairsteps" smaller. But there aren't any stairsteps. And regarding the original question of playing audio without a DAC, that's how original sound cards worked, the CPU was just toggling pins really fast. 1 pin on zx spectrum(basically DSD) and multiple pins on PCs with parallel port(R2R). There's also such a thing as powerdac, where the transistors of a DAC are powerful enough to drive things without an amp.
>>
Is there anything like the ATH M50x with a detachable cable and a similar sound profile?
I've gone through two of them with their shitty cables turning rock hard and dying
and the fucking micro piece on the hinge that breaks and no longer clamps your head

HWID2 generates and registers a permanent legitimate license on MS's activation servers
github.com/massgravel/Microsoft-Activation-Scripts
Usage: paste this into Powershell, run.

Same link, select Ohook option
You can also use Office.com if your needs are very minimal
or try OnlyOffice/LibreOffice and set it to save in MSOffice file formats

MacOS? Last I remember you need a dev account or something to even sideload stuff
>>

If you hate feature updates you should be using IoT LTSC instead, not a GAC edition
LTSC gets you security updates only and nothing else

No all you need is Homebrew if you want to install stuff to your Mac outside of the App Store. Stuff gets installed under your user so it doesn't need special permissions, even on a local account.

There's nothing wrong with initd or any other of the many, more lightweight initializers out there. In fact: https://github.com/davmac314/dinit/
>>
>>107820247
This is very good

https://github.com/davmac314/dinit/blob/master/doc/COMPARISON
>>
>>107817499
nope, init system is very simple and easy to implement, it just executes programs, that's all it does
which means any alternative is good so long it doesn't do anything beyond it like systemd which replaces every part of your OS, systemd is not even init system anymore

the only people upset by this change are the troonix neckbeard types that opencode appeals to. everyone else will just go back to claude code because it's a perfectly fine harness that isn't as far behind opencode as people lead on
they've known that hijacking the cc oauth flow was sketchy and against ToS for at least 6 months already, it's their own fault for not clearing it with anthropic

In 8 years, OpenAI will use 50% of the US's total electricity generate.

This isn't factoring the amount of GPUs they'd be purchasing, nor the fresh clean water they'd need to cool the GPUs powering their data centers.

USA's electricity generation has stagnated for the past 30 years despite a rise in population.

How much do you imagine your electricity bill to be by 2033?
