ah yes, one of the great joys of am3 , i almoas forgot that you had to be careful which board you got ,because many of them didnt have thermal protection and would literally catch fire if you used the 8 core chips and did any oc.
>>
>>107803030
>It was one of two matx boards that could run an 8-core
It can technically "run it" but that 4 phase VRM is not gonna hold 4GHz base clock on an FX-8350 without throttling, you need at the very least a 6 phase VRM to run it, it would likely get the classic 1.4GHz thottling issues or straight up crash, depending how the board handles it, but it would not work Prime95 stable.

>>107803044
I say it all the time but AMD should've policed AM3+ better, the 8 core chips should've never been allowed on 970 motherboard or stuff like the 78LMT, those motherboards with 95W stuff like the FX-6300 were an amazing buy, but all they did allowing 125W stuff on shitty boards is give FX a bad name when it doesn't work right and your vidya is stuttering.
>>
>>107803060
mine did 4.2 GHz without throttling, 80mm fan on the vrm heatsink.
>>
>>107801260
>but I have never had as much fun with a computer as I did when...
You had fun because things were cheaper? Or because you grew out of toys?
>>
>>107803333
Based, I should've added that the vrm can provide the current to run 8 cores maxed out, but not with passive cooling, 4 phases stepping down the voltage is not enough, it gets too hot without a fan on it and throttles, so that is also a fix for throttling, but a lot of people building FX 8350s on low end boards didn't know that sp they think the CPU sucks

>>107803398
Probably a little bit of both, I had built my FX8350 in anticipation for GTA V, the last game I ever was excited about, so I didn't care that my CPU was pulling 150w or more with the 4.5GHz oc, or that my 7970 was a 250w chud of a card, my CPU was cheaper than intel and unlocked, which made it fun, also I was 18 years old at the time, so part of it is becoming an old bastard, now I have efficient parts and run Linux, so radically different than I was in 2014.

This is a laser printer cartridge toner chip. It has a memory which stores information about the cartridge print usage. If you refill your toner cartridge, your printer will still say empty because of this chip. Using a cheap microcontroller connected to ordinary pins and gently spreading the legs so that contact can be made with the correct pin and only the correct pin, one can read the contents of the memory. Subsequently, one can compare the contents of an empty cartridge memory with a full cartridge memory. One can also print a page, then read the contents of the memory again, and note any differences. What is thought to be printer usage information can then be identified and cleared. Doing this, one can refill their own laser printer toner cartridge and use it.

However, the memory chip is also thought to include a microprocessor or logic such that certain memory areas such as serial number may only be written once, or only be written using a secret, unobvious, command or write sequence. Therefore, it is thought printers are made to remember cartridge serial numbers, and when a serial number for a cartridge is remembered as previously exhausted, even if the cartridge is currently reporting to be full, it will either be immediately set to empty or after only a few prints, or will be rejected as an invalid cartridge.

To use your printer, only use printer manufacturer authorized toner cartridges.

Big Print is unironically a real conspiracy. Nothing goodv has happened to people trying to develop/sell alternatives. They want to hold you hostage with expensive, often proprietary refills to keep you in a pseudo-subscription style payment loop. You'll pay the exorbitant cost when you desperately need that work/uni document printed, and it'll barely last. Don't like it? Fuck you monkey, we'll sue!
>>

>>107802817
It's interesting, it says permanent fail state for things like overvoltage overcurrent conditions, if you accidentally plugged your thing in wrong for a second somehow, I guess you could replace the 1 chip?
>>
>>107803162
>permanent fail state for things like
there's lots of ways li-ion batteries can fail. mine failed because it was fully depleted (the circuit design was flawed and had too small of a resistance between the terminals even when not in use).
you probably can't just swap chips out unless you had another custom chip, since the other half of the security is built into the device powered by the battery.
i was trying to gain full access and reset the fail bit, as a manufacturer would do if they refurbished the battery.
i actually tried powering the device using a power supply, and the device said fuck you, you aren't using an authorized battery.
this was DJI chinkshit, btw, which is all but worthless in the US now because of import control and laws against using them for gov't projects.
>>
>>107803270
On laptop batteries packs they have a fuse that can be blown with an external current for permanent disablement, maybe this one is similar?
An overdischarged battery actually is dangerous to charge again so maybe consider that too.

>>107802213
They have cryptographic security on those, I imagine not too dissimilar to the kind on smartcards, IDs, passports and such. This is only as secure as the software on the printer itself of course, so they locked that down too, full chain of trust from boot, anti downgrade, auto updates, who knows what else.

Normies don't care. Only nerds care about operating systems.
Most normies don't even know what their "OS" is or that any update even happened.
You're using a product targeted to and tailored for double digit IQ simpletons and you are complaining?
"You can get away with nearly anything and your customer will probably not even realize what's up or they won't care" is the whole business model of any normie-facing product. It's a big reason why it's so stupidly profitable.

Power management is one of those small, but utterly-critical-in-the-real-world things where Windows comprehensively roflstomps Linux's entire bloodline to death.
When I see posts like this, no matter how reasonably-written they seem, you just know you're dealing with some flerfer-tier misunderstanding of how reality works at best - and someone who hasn't taken their meds for two months at worst.

Then why was I getting 5-6 hours of battery life on Linux compared to the 3-4 hours I'm getting now? Am I 'misunderstanding reality' of picking up the charger block more times now than before?

I'm going to laugh at you SO FUCKING HARD if the seller bulk bought a load of Thinkpads from an e-waste shop to shuck them for RAM and SSDs to resell them on eBay and you're getting basically a shell with a mobo and CPU and nothing else.

Though with a t400 that's really unlikely since it shipped with a hdd and DDR3 1066MHz RAM

Discord recently required I add a phone and verify it, but no matter how many times I click "resend" no verification code would come through

I opened up a support ticket under the 'Account Verification' option and it would keep getting automatically marked as "Solved" with no ability to actually talk to a human

So i opened up a "Technical Support" ticket, and after being transferred from the AI chat agent "Nelly" to what I presume to be an actual person, all they did was keep marking my ticket as "Solved" and I kept re-opening it until they eventually flat out prevented me from re-opening the ticket

Anybody else have to deal with this garbage support?

The AIs are making extremely confident claims that my business and the domain name it's served on is a criminal enterprise, and I have to argue with it and point out the lack of evidence for 4-5 rounds before it admits it was wrong.

The source of the problem is that the domain is a generic word (let's say cars.com) and the criminal enterprise (which once did exist) called itself, let's say, Cars Collective. But again, no connection to my domain name at all beyond the partial word match.

It's gotta be costing me a lot of money. Traffic from Google has dropped hundredfolds to now 0-2 clicks a day.

What would you do in this situation? If I start ranting about the problem on the About page it could be offputting or scary to potential customers.

>Lol, sounds preposterous, but it's this exactly the kind of shit defamation lawsuits are meant to take care of?

No. First problem is actually finding out who to sue. You can't sue the AI since it's not a person. The second is proving intent. Was the party you're sueing intentionally trying to cause damages? Then you actually have to prove damages. Can you equate loss of business/revenue DIRECTLY to the AI having incorrect data.

Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act (1996) give a lot of protections to websites (even websites like 4chan which is good). But it makes sueing them for content posted on their sites nearly impossible unless they were posting it themselves.
If someone posted something defamatory on 4chan for example the victim wouldn't be able to sue Moot.
