Useful archiving efforts and other projects to help out with for people new to and interested in archiving:HIGH priority (If you don't help archive these automatically, the data will probably be lost forever):1. http://warrior.archiveteam.org/Help out automatically archive things being shut down right now by running ArchiveTeam Warrior program (or specific containers) in the backgroundRequirements: Few GB of space, some bandwidth and small amount of CPU power, more info: https://wiki.archiveteam.org/index.php/ArchiveTeam_WarriorIf you learn that a site or any online data is in danger of shutting down, read through this page and contact ArchiveTeam on their IRC if required in order to have it archived: https://wiki.archiveteam.org/index.php/Projects2. Help out automatically forward URLs you browse that are not archived on https://archive.org to them for archival with a browser extensionhttps://github.com/internetarchive/wayback-machine-webextension
8. Publish the data that you have archived that isn't easily or at all available online. You can easily create torrents yourself in your torrent client and then share the magnet link to it anywhere online for anyone to access and, as long as DHT (Distributed Hash Table, decentralized way to share torrents without the need for any specific tracker) is enabled in settings (on by default), your files will be searchable on DHT by DHT crawlers, local or online (for example https://btdig.com/, where you can actually also search for FILE NAMES within all DHT torrents)(archive.org also creates torrents for all uploads automatically but their torrents shouldn't be relied on because of an error-prone implementation and since they can also break when more files are uploaded or if the item's metadata changes, which includes even getting a new comment on the item)OTHER useful things:- In your torrent client settings add the best trackers to be automatically added for all of your newly added torrents (helps more easily connect to peers, especially in obscure torrents)https://github.com/ngosang/trackerslist- Look into running a node for I2P (anonymous private network within the global internet)Requirements: Mostly bandwidth, more info: https://geti2p.net/en/faqhttps://geti2p.net/- Look into running Tor/Hyphanet(Freenet)/IPFS/YaCy/SearXNG nodesComment too long. Will add from now on:>- If you have a torrent in your torrent client which is stuck at downloading metadata, you can see if the .torrent file containing the metadata was archived online. Copy the v1 torrent hash of your torrent and replace it in the link below which uses itorrents.net and btcache.me services to check:https://downloadtorrentfile.com/hash/c8295ce630f2064f08440db1534e4992cfe4862a

>>107805193Damn are you me, I was just looking into that career. I think it's mostly safe from automation/AI because of how conservative and slow moving the industry is, along with the mountains of red tape surrounding maritime law. Only problem is that you have to work 12 hours a day 7 days a week for months on end and have to go to an academy.

>>107789508Good. I regret not getting a 5700x3D.
I have a 5900X since early 2024.Sometimes I was thinking "damn, maybe an X3D would have been better for games". Now I pair this 5900X to a 9070XT, so maybe a better CPU would bring some benefits. Although at 1440P that doesn't seem too likely maybe? I don't know.Point is I'm not buying a 5800X3D. But if there was something like A 5950X3D, you know... maybe? I don't exactly want a full AM5 upgrade, now I want it even less.
>>107796307>imagine never having to upgrade your hardware>you just pay more and more for subscriptionslisten retard, im a vidya game player. We started out with 10$ a month subscriptions in 2001. Then they changed to 15$ a month in 2005. Now in 2025 there are games that require you to pay for multiple subs (20/30$ ea) and then 2 monthly battle passes (20$ each) plus all the luxury goods in the cash shop (20-50$ each).thats just in one game. Obviously, the hardware jew is going to charge you more, and more often. You arent going to be saving money in the long run, you never do. If you could, that would never be the business model in the first place you stupid fuck.
Reddit trawling AI have made large enterprise companies recruit their own employees into "reddit task forces" to shill their brand on redditNot just to make redditors buy their product, but so that AI will pick up their brand and shill them on all AI search enginesWhat the actual fuck is wrong with AIfags?
>organic
>>107818797Imagine thinking this is something new. Reddit has been overrun with shills for a long, long time - both corporate *and* glowing. Not to mention the rampant bots. The admins do nothing to stop it because it's ultimately all just more traffic, engagement and subsequently money for them. That said, turd worlders are still the biggest plague of all, as they are everywhere else on the internet. It's not an exaggeration to say that you have a 50/50 chance of it being an Indian when you interact with someone on Reddit. It's even worse now people can hide their post history.
Damn nigga Reddit is 80% bots already. Just add one more.Bots posting slop for AI to consume to feed back to bots posing as humans.Where did things go wrong..t human poster
>>107818797What's the point of this? The chatbot isn't going to ever cite it's sources and start shilling your brand for you.

I got an Iphone 4 laying in my drawer doing nothing. And also a cowon Z2. The first is fundamentally useless as a phone, the second while it's a decent player got bricked with and official update and never quite worked right anymore, the wifi specifically doesn't work. I'm looking for ideas to repurpose them. They both have decent screens but quite small, the iphone as a decent enough camera.

i learned about it recently and it seems quite cool, but i don't even know if i would need it. i'm not a researcher or a writer, i just have a very overactive internal monologue (sometimes i can kinda space out and live in my head) and i want to be able to form a personal "knowledge base" to organize my interests/values/things ive learned/even just things i need to do. what do you use it for? or is it just one of those things where people use it for a week and then forget about it forever?

Good grief. Seriously? No one knows about middle click to paste?
>>107817248>but it was already a huge pain setting up Chicago95 the first timeDon't you literally just run the script and it does the rest?
>>107811568>This is about middle click, which is impossible to press accidentally unless your mouse is defective or you're having an epilepsy crisis. It's not impossible as I've done it countless times, I don't have perfect aim with my mouse when I want to click somewhere, so it's common for me to make mistakes and click where I don't want to.
>>107818349You can adjust mouse sensitivity, and there's always the option to press TAB for highlighting UI elements.Consider the people who don't have the luxury of using both hands for such a common operation as copying text from one part of the screen to another. Or those who have use of both hands but must do this operation hundreds of times per day because of their job/hobby.I would immediately stop using any program or desktop environment that doesn't offer this since it's such a time saver, especially when you need to copy two things, which is literally impossible in any other way and a big waste of time when it's not possible.
>>107818495>copy two thingsDon't people use clipboards with history for this? I've never tried this kind of thing but it has a very devoted fanclub and people who're used to it get really annoyed when they're on a system that doesn't work like this
>>107818798Two things at a time, as in:- need to copy name and address from two different places into one form- need to copy URL and a sentence from current document into a browser- need to copy new title for existing document and the document itself to a different folderEach of these can be accomplished with a clipboard manager, which I also use, but that means doing more operations, because there is only one Ctrl+V and many things to paste, so you also need to flick through the list of things to paste which takes time and attention, whereas Ctr+V followed by middle click only requires accurately positioning the mouse.
