Hello, I've come up with a system, but I'm not in the academia of philosophy, what should I do to "post" my writing and let it be known that some things are this way? I want to specifically be remembered for my works, even if as a small little guy.

first step you need a good name, it needs to be able to withstand -ism'ing. second step you need to become a master provocateur, you need to make controversy your oxygen. third step you release your book and make sure it ends on some kind of cliffhanger.

You edgelords decided to LARP as trad Cathlodox and unironic Stoics and Platonists so hard that you actually became full on memes denying 500 years of philosophical progress. Morality has been deboonked. You can either become an empiricist eliminativist bugman or a Nietzchean hyperchad or an ascended post-structuralist, but becoming an unironic Platotroon is embarrassing. You do realize that the people who actually developed this philosophy were almost universally homeless, penniless, virgins, right? That's why they all look like bearded wizards. Some of them legit lived in caves.

Anyone who has any personal experience with predator animals knows that they experience far more pleasure from eating than we can understand. And their pleasure would be compounded if they were famished. And anyone who has experience with animals of prey knows they don’t have much individualist pain, their main source of pain is fear. And that pain ends when they did.More critically, Schopenhauer seems to totally misunderstand what pain *is*. Some women enjoy pain because it makes them feel submissive (anyone who has had sex with a few knows a lot love being slapped and choked). And many men take a spiritual or cultural interest in pain. The Mawé subject to themselves to more pain than most of us ever experience in a lifetime, as part if a boy’s coming of age The fact is that Schopenhauer’s idea of suffering is extremely modern. The anguish of life that the Greek pessimists focused on wasn’t physical pain, and with the sorts of plagues, torture, battle disabilities and infirmity they had then, you would think they would have. Oedipus rips his own eyeballs out as an expressing of anguish, which must have been a lot more physically painful than fucking his mother no matter how tight she wastl;dr the qualitative experience of physical pain today is much worse to us than it was to humanity in the past, let alone to how animals experience it

Debates and arguments are fundamentally pointless when worldviews rest on the support of fundamental axioms which can be only accepted or rejected, but not debated. Two people whose views of the world rest on irreconcilable axioms will only ever be able to talk past each other.

Can I still take something out of literature or should I stick to video gamesAlso, what's yours?https://mensa.dk/iqtest/
I got 113. It’s over for me
Got 133 but I had to take a shit in the middle of it. I think got 136 in a proper test in person, 122 on the verbal IQ and 147 spatial.
I will hijack this thread. My IQ is 117, a midwit by all standards. I know with this, I will never accomplish anything meaningful, but at the same time I live in a country where the mean IQ is 83. I'm incapable of connect with the average person here. I'm too stupid to rise above and find success, but too smart to simply live normally among others. What can I do? I thought of immigrating to a rich country but at the end of the day I would only pollute it with my brownness and feel inadequate about myself.

>>24689395I mean in the novels. It's all about hijacking your reproductive drive. For men it's super cutie youthfull sex nymphs. For women it's rich handsome loner Chad's who love them above all else. There is no better mate to reproduce with from a woman's standpoint.Just like an average guys isn't going to have a uber attractive cutie fall on his lap. The average woman isn't going to have Elon Musk fly them to his space mansion and make love to them. Not for lack of trying on his part.

He didn't write anything down and then we started writing shit down and technology fucking SKYROCKETED. Like imagine if we took this guys advice and didn't write anything down, where the fuck do you think we would be right now? Plus it's not even true. I write shit down ALL the time. All the time... And my memory is awesome. Writing things down actually helps your memory; Socrates was retarded.

Now that the dust has settled (lol), is it worth reading? Are the sequels worth reading also?
>>24688419Dune is absolutely worth reading even by itself and the series is nice because there's a few places in the series you can just stop at. If you liked Dune you can read Messiah which is basically just a big epilogue of Dune. If you liked Messiah then read Children but I found it to be a slog but God Emperor makes up for it and ends the main series. Then unless you really really like Herbert you can skip the last 2 because they're the first two parts of a separate (but still in-universe) trilogy that he died before finishing.
>>24688549this
>>24688549>the first two parts of a separate (but still in-universe) trilogy that he died before finishing.I mean his son did finish it based on his notes, although he split it into two books. They’re the only two books by Brian Herbert that are worth reading. Hunters of Dune and Sandworms of Dune.
>>24688549>God Emperor makes up for it and ends the main seriesNo, it starts the second series. Its only function is to set the scene for Heretics and Chapter House.
>>24688419The first one is worth reading. Messiah is boring imo
I didn't think LoTR was THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME but it is unique and really fun.I jumped into A Game of Thrones recently after The Hedge Knight and I have to say.. It's not that fun. Cliffhanging, exciting and all of that, but… maybe too modest? My imagination wasn't running or enjoying what was being said and described, and the way characters spoke and behaved was too close to our world.
>>24688319Try Jack Vance's Cugel stories ("Eyes of the Overworld" and "Cugel's Saga"). I would also recommend Gene Wolfe's "Book of the New Sun" quadrology, and if you like his writing style you should follow those up with the "Book of the Long Sun" and "Book of the Short Sun" series.
>>24689116To be honest, I haven't read any of those books. I always play them as audio, audiobooks if you will.Yes, I do love The Hedge Knight. I grew very fond of Dunk & Egg and their small, irrelevant tale, but alas, that old fuck said there're gonna be 9, 12 or even more books regarding them AFTER he finished Winds of Winter.I don't know how Tolkien does it? the way his characters spoke, how he describe everything around them very slowly yet intriguing, is just fun and thoughtful. Add Robert Inglis narration to that and it's other-worldly.
>>24688319Wizard of Oz. Tolkien took a lot from WoO.
>>24688319Look up the Shannara Trilogy. If you loved LOTR then you'll love that trilogy.
>>24688319Conan short stories are great.
Who gets him right?Any other bios you particularly enjoyed? I thought Steve Marin's Born Standing Up, Tina Fey's Bossypants, and Norm Macdonald's Based on a True Story were all great but they are all autobios. Is it even possible for a third party to accurately depict creatives?
>>24687521He doesn't have the look but I liked his portrayal a lot. Played up the "he's in his own world genius" act in a fun way.
>>24687419Obviously the classic is Life of Johnson by James Boswell. And although it is not exactly a biography, Conversations with Goethe by Eckermann.
>>24687419I am a big Elvis fan myself but I don't think he wrote any songs which makes him a less important figure than someone like Michael Jackson or even Prince
>>24689253Idk about his impact on the culture or the king of rock and roll or whatever. To me he's the clearest example of pathos in the industry. Especially as he aged his music and covers just start dripping with it. I'm curious how a man like that exists and interacts with the world. From the stereotypes he was like a raw nerve, only allowed to exist because he had so much money that insulated him from real life. Interesting too that he was under the control of someone else. I think even he realized he couldn't handle the world straight up. But again that's only coming from his depictions in media and me reading importance into his music. Just curious if that aspect of him was ever explored by someone with real access.
>>24689399Maybe Elvis What Happened? By Red West and the other Memphis Mafia guys. I confess I haven’t read it but it’s on my list

>>24689345I always wondered what he means by neverborn. When searching about it, some people say that they would be inanimate objects given life or souls. When thinking of how warging works in ASOIAF, perhaps the neverborn are souls waiting to inhabit a vessel that are plucked out and put into corpses.
>>24688216I kneel before the image of [B]ae_lor the [B]lessed every morning.
>>24681616If we take into consideration Grrm's blatant inspiration from Memory, Sorrow & Thorn, the easy guess is that the Others are simply children of the forest that decided to live in the ice and put up a border between the two factions and they probably worked a magical treaty. For whatever reason, the Others are beginning to break that treaty by going south.
>>24681616the show is canon and based off of martin's notes for the series. The others were created by the children of the forest to fight the first men. If you're expecting ice elves or something impactful, you're a fan of the wrong series.

>>24687853I wanted to borrow Thursday Murder Club from my local library, but it wasn't in at the moment. The librarian recommended me borrowing Three Bags Full by Leonie Swann instead. A murder mystery with sheep as the main characters. I thought it sounded fun based on his description, but that book was such a let down. I expected something like Shaun the Sheep solving a murder, what I got was real life, stupid ass sheep trying to understand what was going on in the story. You as the reader couldn't get a clear picture either because of these stupid animals. "He went there with this thing that I don't have the vocabulary to describe. I wonder what he was up to... Oh! Look at this lovely spot of grass!" It's actually one of the few book I haven't finished. Thursday Murder Club on the other hand was exactly what I expected it to be, and I loved every second of reading it.
