>>97392525Neat. Again, subjective opinions are welcome, you're not required to like it. Know what else is welcome? How about everyone that is here to talk about what they like about the game, posting cards they have or wanting to discuss strategy. No need to constantly let folks prop up hateful rhetoric with fake posts designed to damage the reputation of a game here. Whatever transgressions they fabricate don't change the fact that the game is on topic for the thread. Reminder, irrational shitposting isn't on topic, so flag anything you see that's obvious, the troll has no shame.
>TQProbably learning the lore of the Ebon Hand through card art and flavor text. But that's not a good /acg/ story, so have the first card in Transformers TCG to get banned
>gameplayFor Centaurs, you should be able to use them as mounts when not in combat if they're lightly armed & armored. I think you could ride into battle with them and fight on their back without overburdening them, depending on your loadout. Squeezing into dungeons and caves might be a bit of a bitch, and your centaur companion may find themselves too cumbersome to accompany you in certain locations. If people in wheelchairs can make do, I'm sure a transmog potion or a shrinking potion might solve the problem.>fantasy settingsThey're more at home here for sure, like having a horse. Some taverns may give you a hard "no" for your centaur companion, but I'm sure regions that are steeped in centaur culture or adjacent ones have accommodations for their unique anatomy. If nothing else, they could help carry your camp supplies and other provisions. >loadouts for fantasyIf you're not riding them, I think they can be pretty well armed and armored- think tower shield and a mace/flail. They also make good spearmen, so I think they'd be comfortable wielding a halbard and similar pike-style weapons. This would be with them wearing plate mail cuirass for the human portion and chainmail curtain over their horse hind quarters, or perhaps some specially fitted Gambeson. Other plate sections could be fitted to their horse body as needed. Archery and crossbows seem like they'd work for ranged options. I've not considered them using magic, but having a fairly mobile spellcaster seems cool as well.
>>97371767That'd be nice. There was a mobile game in the works that looked like it'd be Sega's version of Fire Emblem Heroes. Sadly, that got scrapped. There was the Phantasy Star TTG that Skydawn put together, as I'd mentioned before >>97289191, but from what I've heard, it kinda shit the bed. I'd like to get my hands on a copy of the pdf so I can judge for myself, but all the online reviews were a mixture of "not that great" to "it's good...if you're a hardcore Phantasy Star enjoyer and must own everything PS related". I'd like something like that for Shining Force, but maybe handled by a better publisher. I'd be fine with either a D&D-style game with Shining Force window dressing or a wargame that focused on individual units and played more like the original Shining Force titles, with maybe a hex board or something like that, where battles could be streamlined, and the story would be secondary to quicker action.
There's no horsing around in this thread.

>>97385314You can search for 3-D print models. Centaurs are a little goofy anatomy wise so I wouldn't expect to find them in a regular store that pumps out mass-marketed stuff.
>>97392367>3-D print modelsI know, but I don't have a printer, it would be a last resort. Also I was hoping for recommendations from people who might have found the better ones alreadyI did just find that apparently northstar will release new models to support Warriors of Athena or something

Does your setting/game system even care? Is there a reason we have so few games with a Gothic or Victorian inspired setting but a trillion rehashes of medieval fantasy, science-fiction or some eastern setting with katanas?
>>97388146Too close to real life. It doesn't fuel well enough the need for escapism.
>>97388146Victorian is modern enough that anything you could do in that setting you could feasibly do in a modern setting
I personally find that Victorian aesthetics, and even 19th-century firearms, tend to get absorbed into the "generic high fantasy" banner.Whether it is D&D 5e, Pathfinder 2e, Draw Steel, or Daggerheart, it does not seem to be particularly uncommon for one character to be a knight in full plate while another character is a 19th-century-esque gunslinger or pseudo-steampunk gadgeteer (or both).I should know, because I have GMed for and played in parties exactly like this in all of the aforementioned systems.Another oddly specific point where this rings true is that if someone is asked to envision a generic "noblewoman," it is a 50/50 shot on whether they picture something medieval/Renaissance-ish or something more Victorian.Victorian and other 19th-century aesthetics got gobbled up by the "generic high fantasy" genre.
>>97388146>Victorian inspired settingIsn’t that pretty much all of Steampunk ever?

I'm so hype. My GM who was running am DH game for ~18 years but took a break due to life stuff has decided to pick it back up again. My other GM who was running RT for ~15 years is taking a brief break while the DH GM picks it up again (same group). We're doing a Deathwatch mini game to get back in the swing of things, and we had our first session today. The energy was really great in a social session while we discussed how the Cohesion system works. We have a Lamenter Apothecary, a Salamander Techmarine, a Space Wolf wolf scout, a Raven Guard successor assault marine, an Ultramarine tactical marine, and a Black Shield librarian
>>97392355Every few weeks I see something here that makes me glad I only got on this site when I entered college and was decently adjusted to socialization. I'm sure there's some cool people here too but honestly joining games seems like such a dice roll that it's not worth it.
Speaking of, are there any places to semi-reliably pick up a group for 40krpg's? IRL circle dissolved through the kung flu, and sites like Roll20 seem to be like sifting for corn in a river of shit.
>>97392491If there were, we wouldn't all be here complaining about it. We can't even play with each other, because clearly we all have different ideas of how a good game should be run.
I need some help with the details of a game I'm planning. Tzeentch, got bored and decided to mess with some noble that collects art. After messing with his head through nightmares about his family selling his stuff after he dies the noble gets terrified about what will happen to his collection and decides the best way to keep it safe forever is to find someone who will care about it as much as he does. At a party he over hears someone from a different world talk about how Trazyn the Infinite stole some relics from their estate. Thinking that Trazyn is a collector like himself the noble decides to find him and donate his collection so it will stay safe from his family. That's a quick summery of what I want to start with. Ignoring the ordeal of getting to him and the shock of finding out that Trazyn is a Necron, what would Trazyn do if the noble actually got to him and showed off his large collection of art? And what would he want to keep? Is there a particular kind of human artifact he would be interested in? Rarity, age, what would he care about?
Some /tg/-related funny images and comics. YMMV.

>>97393093not watching
>>97392552I will blame this largely on wotc's methods of storytelling. Books and novels didn't get the brand out there by writing novels about Urza and the Weatherlight scant few players read. The comics are bad joke not even the lorefags seem to pay attention to. Now we're stuck with at the bottom of the barrel, web stories written by freelance writers and character lore through fucking web articles. Regardless of any of the material being good this just isn't how you get people to care. They need a movie, a TV show, anything they can watch. That is how you build a brand. Nobody but hardcore comic geeks gave a shit about Invincible for 15 years until it got a normalfag TV show. Now it's popular. New manga flies under the radar all the time until it gets an anime then it's popular. Old unc novels like Dune are popular but only catch fire as a brand when they get turned into watchable movies. Wotc has not ventured into this space. Fuck, look at Yugioh if you need proof it works for card games. Yugioh would have been washed away by the sands of time without all the anime seasons it's received.
I will proxy this

This is a specification for an exterior ballistics software that can be used to calculate damage at long range in tabletop RPGs like Phoenix Command or GURPS where that sort of question arises with some degree of frequency. It takes in physical characteristics of a projectile (diameter, length, mass, etc.) and uses an ODE method to calculate velocity after a period of time has passed. I'd recommend either C++ or pure C for the programme as, particularly if you are generating tables for many types of projectiles, it can get very computationally intensive. For the specification, start with the formula for drag force, $F_d = \frac{1}{2}\rho v^{2}C_{D}A$, so $\frac{\rho v^{2}C_{d}A}{2m} = a$. The issue is $C_D$, which must be determined empirically. We have an advantage in that drag curves all look more or less the same in terms of shape and proportionality (multiply the drag coefficient on a G7 drag curve by about 1.9 and you will likely be pretty close to the drag coefficient at that mach number on a G1 drag curve). Thus, we define our generic drag curve as on the below table. When a bullet is between mach numbers you have the option of linearly interpolating between them, which is less realistic but easier to write code for and will run faster, or using a more complex formula such as Lagrangian or Newtonian Interpolation, which are more accurate but slower. The typical air density (rho) at sea level is 1.225kg/m$^3$. A typical speed of sound at sea level is about 340 m/s.
>>97391876>>97391899You don't have the voxels right there in the rulebook. It's tabulated, like the picture I've attached.
>>97391904Okay, so it looks like if you do 1-3 penetration you do 1 damage, and anything more than that you do massive damage.1. How many hitpoints does the average person have? Is a 4 penetration hit with 13 damage enough to kill them, or do PCs have more like 100 health?2. How much damage does a punch to the head do? You can definitely kill someone with a single punch to the forehead even though it doesn't penetrate the skull.
>>97391915(1) Every wound taken has a chance of killing a character. Divide Lethality by a character's Wound Recovery Potential to find Tissue Damage, then reference Tissue Damage on a table. 3 points of tissue damage is about a 2% chance to kill. 150 is essentially 100%. It's a sigmoidal curve, so the probability of death asymptotically approaches 1.(2) That's what 'BTBD' (Blunt Trauma Base Damage) is for. A very solid punch to the head fight deal 4 or 5 Impact base, which is then multiplied by 5.4 = 21.6 or 27 points of damage, or about a 53 or 54% chance of death, given that the wound is left entirely untreated. Medical treatment could decrease that to an essentially 0% chance of dying.
I personally feel that tabletop games shouldn't be too simulationist, but congrats
>>97392975Yeah, if you need a computer to help with the maths then that's real bad. If you have to worry about how computationally heavy the math is so the computer won't take too long doing it...And the real kicker with highly complex "simulationist" wound systems is that they quickly end up going way beyond what any scientific data can cover for them (going fully quantitative in situations where the science is in many cases barely qualitative), meaning the"realism" is just something the author pulled out of his arse.
