It's down, obviously. But for a niche TCG It's doing fine despite the awful management.
If it dies it dies, I love this Franchise but I'll just move over to a different game if this one goes up in flames. Though I hope it doesn't, none of the other games I play are as fun as Vanguard other than Digimon.

So I've just gotten Marrakesh after telling queen games I want my money back because of their complete radio silence for 9 or so months. They actually upgraded it to deluxe edition for free because the one I pledged was sold out. Holy shit, what a scam this is.
Aside from the """"deluxe"""" edition being basically the og game with a few screenprinted meeples sold at a premium, it came with gametrayz. Neat, I initially thought. But holy shit. People unironically pay for these flimsy pieces of shit plastic? It's not even a full step above these standard molded plastic inserts. I genuinely don't think throwing everything in ziplocks is any slower. Also, imagine my suprise that even the deluxe edition doesn't come with metal coins, that's something you'll have to buy extra ;^)

Are all deluxe versions such massive scams?

Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to first-decade, Gygaxian D&D, its faithful modern clones, and content created for use with them. Later editions (2e and newer) should be discussed elsewhere.

Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons played as intended by its creators from 1974 to 1983 — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching metaplots and a greater emphasis on player agency.

If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about: we'll be happy to help you get started. We also have two excellent beginner guides created by Anons with feedback from the thread that you can check for help:

tbdesu i used to think this way until giving old school games a try and playing a bunch more crpgs. in reality you can play something like 5e in an old school way just like you can play ose in a "new" school way. some people take to the pseudo mmo west marches style old school stuff, some people like the more on rails with feats and traits and whatever. i can see the merits in both styles even if i personally prefer running old school games because i like dungeon crawling more than being theater kids. if you're playing it with your friends then it'll be fun no matter what.

I’ve always considered law a form of magic. Just whipping out a retarded statement can delay a case for years just because of some hundred year old shit everyone forgot about. Someone even demanded a trial by combat once, not too long ago, in fucking America. State by state shit gets weirder and more esoteric. In England some village has an ancient law stating all red heads must be killed or something.

But what is law if not social engineering? That’s what Ruscoe Pound said. Law is a tool and a building block.

Knights Templar in 1099, decades before they exist as an order, go full apostate retard and open the gates to hell underneath Jerusalem in the first crusade, Hell invades from there. So, the divergence is the Templars being a thing so soon. Which I don't believe was a concious choice but a mistake on Toumas' part.

New year new me edition

>Cyberpunk 2020 vs. Cyberpunk RED?
Cyberpunk 2020 is the second edition of the Cyberpunk TTRPG that focuses on simulation gameplay and has a black trenchcoat aesthetic.

Cyberpunk RED is the fourth edition of the Cyberpunk TTRPG that is set after Cyberpunk 2020 following the Fourth Corporate War, focuses on more balanced gameplay and is more streamlined but has less content.

You can discuss Shadowrun here too because I also feel bad for those guys.

Mike and Talsorian probably wouldn't do this nowadays because it would be too controversial in the light of recent events. But i'm curious as to how Israel is doing in 2077, canonically they're one of the only nations that survived the Middle East Meltdown because they had a Ronald Reagan Star Wars laser defense grid. Yes. Jewish Space Lasers are really a thing in Cyberpunk.
>>
>>97364040
That's just what happens when an IP stops being niche and becomes mainstream, all the edgy stuff has to be filed off for maximum appeal to the dumb masses and the politically correct moral busybodies. Happened to Star Wars, happened to Warhammer, it'll happen to Cyberpunk eventually.
Thankfully Mikes still alive to make sure the setting at least keeps some of it's original edge. Though he probably only has about eight or ten years left in him since he's in his seventies now.

I don't really give a single fuck about any edition other than 2nd, so it doesn't effect me in the slightest.

That being said, the 2nd edition of Shadowrun Anarchy that was just kick-started seems pretty decent, and I will probably snag it when it gets a physical release. It's telling that it's a company other than CGL that is making it.

GURPS is a modular, adaptable system, capable of running a wide range of characters, settings, and play styles, with a level of detail varying from lightweight to completely autistic.
Optional rules allow you to emulate different genres with a single system, or even switch genres within a single game.

A nearly complete archive of GURPS books can be found by using the image. Never post direct links to the archive anywhere in plain text.

If you're wondering where to start:
- The Basic Set covers everything, including a lot of optional rules you probably won't use.
- A genre guide can be found in the archive, under Unofficial/GURPSgen. It tells you what extra books and articles you may find useful for many common genres.
- How To Be a GURPS GM is a good read even for players.
- GCS (gurpscharactersheet.com) is an excellent character-builder software, with page references to all the books and the option to export to both Foundry and Fantasy Grounds.

Thread question: what's the best classic GURPS cover art?

90% of unofficial GURPS content now seems to just be one extremely autistic guy who is trying to stat the entire past from the carboniferous to the cold war.
Why aren't there more people like that? You can't convince me that the GURPS fanbase is lacking the necessary level of autism. There should be dozens of obsessive-compulsive loons writing up every steam locomotive, or species of butterfly, or something.

Necromancy Edition

>What is Trench Crusade?
An alternate weird history 28mm/32mm tabletop skirmish game still in a pre-release playtesting phase but with the full release slated for this year. Based on the art and lore of Mike Franchina, whose illustrations you may have seen floating around on /tg/ for a several years now, and designed by Tuomas Pirinen, one of the original creators of Mordheim. It's grimdark, it's visceral, it's awesome, and it's very Blanchitsu.

>What Trench Crusade is not
TC not an excuse for you to discuss IRL religion, history that didn't occur in the game, culture war shit, or discord bullshit on /tg/. Keep it on topic.

>What's the QRD on the background?
The Knights Templar turned heretic and opened the Gates of Hell when they took Jerusalem during the First Crusade. Over 800 years later the war is still ongoing as technology has developed to a pseudo diesel-punk WW1 standard and a third of Humanity has sided with the Infernal Princes.

>How do I get started?

So my DND group was kind of disolving, 2 out of the 4 players left because of life issues (one got a job abroad and the other one is dealing with life), to keep playing we incorporated 2 new players with not so much experience but avid watchers of Critical Role.

One of these player conditions was that we incorporate x cards to the game, she says that it makes it much more comfortable for her to know she can avoid unpleasant story elements having this tool.

I started to read a bit about it online and is this something you guys have used? In my 20 years playing I've never used this.

On average people shouldn't have triggers. There are people who have serious issues in their past but chances are good you're probably not going to play with one and when they do show up their the exceptions you should know about in advance. Otherwise anyone with a trigger is just a spoiled tit who was coddled to long and never learned how to deal with shit.

>In my 20 years playing I've never used this.
Basically this.
The initial idea was that at convention games, which can be a bit odd or unusually emotionally heavy compared to other gaming, played with strangers who are a bit odd or unusual compared to other gamers, would be able to communicate there was a problem while playing in public.
Haven't seen it used for that, but that was the idea.
Also came about when there was a lot of crossover in the bdsm community and 2000s indi rpg stuff, and those assholes really like rules for controling what people do and arguing about what consent means. And then manipulating those rules so they can get what they want. The results are fairly predictable.
Worst part is one of the most publicized rpg games where an X card would have worked really well, played by a crowd that was really into shit like X cards, all failed to use it and instead turned it into a weird passive aggressive cancel thing afterwards. Fuck Adam Kobel but also lol.
>>
wouldnt it have made leagues more sense for an x card just to be handed in before the game began so the dm could adjust any existing plans?
>>
>>97366248
Consent/trigger forms are also a thing, put some groups don't want to deal with that sort of paperwork (or risk misuse of provided information).
>>
>>97363372
Woulda made sense to have as a precaution in some of my teenage years VtM games with the other theater kids. But crossing those boundaries was pretty much the point. If someone wanted to "play" one that wouldn't bother me. If someone thought that meant "we aren't going to have a conversation about," that would.

Can it really be believable to have a space setting where characters are engaging in combat personally instead of using robots or bombarding their problems from orbit?
>>
>>97364984
it's believable because it's fun and cool. but also, not everyone has a ship. you could get into a fight on the cantina space station and have to defend yourself, live on planet and get involved in a gang war. remember that some people will live their entire lives planetbound. we have planes now but we're not always traveling, and outside of the military nobody's doing drone combat

Besides smoothing out your highlights etc, try the trick on shining a flashlight from a light direction on your dude in the dark and then taking a photo. You'll have a much better understanding of where and how strongly to highlight.

Sup, /tg/entlemen, newfag here. So, what am I doing wrong here with blue base and drybrushing? Painting base leaves brush bristle texture and even after few layers. And while drybrushing it gets into recesses more than on edges.

thin your paint

yeah, generally makes sure you thin your paints while applying basecoats, as for drybrushing if it's getting into the recesses then either you're pressing the brush too hard against the model, or the brush has bristles or parts that are getting into the model
whenever you drybrush you generally want to make sure almost all the paint is gone from the bristles (you can scrub it against a paper towel or texture palette or something, then test it on your hand or something else) then when drybrushing it on your model make sure you're drybrush strokes are hitting the edges and raised edges "against the grain" if that makes sense
