>Nobody on this board knows the rules when they argue about older editions.
Take a shot everytime someone complains about CSM 3.5 being broken, ignoring the fact that only lasted for like 5 minutes and then everyone had their equally strong 3.5 or 4th codex.

For me it was the sheer bulk of the codex compared to later offerings. The first 25 pages were lore, each unit had paragraphs of background, short stories scattered throughout, the art...
It was fucking incredible to my teenage nerd self. Really activated my neurons.
>>
>>97354654
Not saying the edition was bad, just that it wasn't as good as 4th. Would still give it the silver medal.
And yes, codexes were indeed great, certainly more fun to read than the early 3rd ones and anything from 5th and onwards.

Tatooine is a weird planet.

By just about every metric you can think of, this planet is an unimportant rock of no relevance to the larger galaxy. And yet for SOME reason it keeps ending up right smack dab in the middle of major galactic events. I’m sure there’s at least one person that’s lost waaay too many nights starring at a conspiracy board trying to figure out what the connection is between this planet and all these major events? The “Tatooine connection” if you will
>>
I never saw the 9th movie so I dont know what happens so I can imagine anything I want
In fact I havent seen anything Star Wars related since Solo, although I was subjected to half an episode of the Mandalorian
>>
>>97353960
hasnt there been some form of the idea floated that tattooine is like some sort of force leyline, everything important naturally occurs around it, near it, on it. Maybe im entirely making it up.
>>
>>97354301
It’s entirely possible that there are some who have presented that as a possible explanation.

But keep in mind that we’re deep into speculative canon. Because official canon is that, nobody’s noticed. Or at least nobody has canonically said anything about it.

But Humans are a creature that is instinctively wired to find patterns (sometimes even if there isn’t really a pattern). So I just can’t accept that absolutely nobody in-universe has noticed how often Tatooine comes up in Galactic history. So one can imagine the possibility of rampant conspiracy theories that might arise from this.

New year new me edition

>Cyberpunk 2020 vs. Cyberpunk RED?
Cyberpunk 2020 is the second edition of the Cyberpunk TTRPG that focuses on simulation gameplay and has a black trenchcoat aesthetic.

Cyberpunk RED is the fourth edition of the Cyberpunk TTRPG that is set after Cyberpunk 2020 following the Fourth Corporate War, focuses on more balanced gameplay and is more streamlined but has less content.

You can discuss Shadowrun here too because I also feel bad for those guys.

Yeah Medtech is even worse with Surgery being useless and Cyro/Pharmaceuticals capping out in usefulness pretty early.

They should be streamlined similar to Techs getting all their specializations for free and Surgery and Medical Tech becoming normal skills they get a Bonus for along with the other medical skills like Paramedic, First Aid and Cybertech
>>
>>97353910
It seems like the general EMP effect is set at Cyberware DV15 and disables 2 pieces of the ref's choosing. Now I used to scoff at this low DV but only recently did I realize nobody puts points into Cyberware outside of the tech/medtech and maybe put 4-5 points in TECH (gotta max out REF, DEX, and COOL for combat optimization baybey) so suddenly EMP can be insanely dangerous and only nat 10's can save you.

The Rostic Kleaver has the on fire effect, ignores armor effect, and bonus 1d6 damage effect so I wonder if there is one more bonus ability that could be squeezed in, especially since this is a 5,000eb tier weapon?

Also you could make your own brand, become the next Eren Malour.

>>
>>97354421
I judge things on their quality not the identity politics of their creators. From what I’ve briefly read it looked fine. There are plenty of other books out there if that sort of thing bothers you.

The undying war campaign has a 5e version on drive thru rpg made by Troll Lord Games for example.
>>
I am making a more OSR Survival type rule set for 5e
>Just play another game
I know others, this is just for the stubborn "I only play 5e" types.

The overall goal is to make it play with more of a focus on resource management, day to day survival, and making threats actually a threat.

Change so far
Short Rest takes 8 hours. This can be sleep, relaxing, or a downtime activity. At the end of the 8 hours you can spend HD to recover HP as normal, and recover your other SR abilities.

Sleep still needs to happen every 24 hours.
Depending on the conditions of sleep you can get bonuses like rolling a free HD to recover HP or get back a single HD.

Long Rest for HD recovery takes a full 24 hours off. You can do this during a Downtime day and be active but not adventuring during the day.

Rations and living costs are actually used, not an extra rule just something that should be enforced.

Here are my rules

1. FTL travel is only possible with a real sentient person controlling the ship. Don't try brain in a jar, it backfires.

2. FTL communication inside of a solar system is possible, but only through some fairly expensive infrastructure.

3. The vast, vast majority of information is carried by courier ships who must make the FTL travel by themselves.

4. There is instant FTL galaxy-wide communications available, but only the big giant ancient asshole alien empire knows how to do it, and only those people extremely, extremely high up get to use it. This typically takes the form of pre-recorded video messages. A live holo-link with a member of the Imperial Court means someone on the other side of the call really fucked up. Humans (aka players) have access to this tech, but can only send very simple text messages, like telegrams, can be vulnerable to distortion, it's not reliable.

I like the feeling of Traveller "Age of Sail" communication, but I also want to leave myself open to other stuff.

they've made a robot esper and an arborian smuggler. i'm gonna throw them in to a space station in the neutral zone where they have to try and stop a terrorist threat, and have that lead into a planet-hopping story similar to KOTOR, where every couple of sessions they'll collect a macguffin on one planet and fly to the next. we were supposed to play this weekend, but rescheduled to this week.
i wanna test the leveling curve from level 1 to 10, some ground combat, space combat, social stuff, a couple of dungeon crawls, get them aligned with/hunted by different factions, go from zero to hero, maybe experience a death or two.

The diplomacy is the interesting part (to me). Livius writes some very entertaining speeches for the various Greek factions as the Romans and Macedonians vie for their support. Then there's the naval battles, naval siege, concerns for winter quarters and all that. The actual battles are very short, the maneuvering and planning is where it's most interesting. Suits itself to a campaign game more than single battles I'll admit.
Alexander and the successors have some good battles. A great one is the siege of Tyre where they built a dam to the (then) island fortress, still visible today.

What are these radical ‘fixes’ then? I’m genuinely curious. Worst-case scenario you give us all some pointless well-worn platitudes, at best you save some lives from waste.

I think referring to depression as ‘mental weakness’ is pretty reductionist too - Lincoln, Churchill, Newton, Grant all suffered from awful depression and achieved great things - and that’s before we even get into all the great contributions to the arts made by people exhibiting this ‘mental weakness’.

>mental weakness
NTA, but calling it weakness is entirely accurate. A man who can't pick up his infant son is just objectively physically weak (ie. less strong than expected for his species). A man who can't get arsed to get out of bed and provide for himself and his family is mentally weak (ie. less motivated or disciplined than expected for his species).
And I'm saying this as someone who still "deals with depression" or whatever we're gonna call being a weak cunt.
Acknowledging your weaknesses as weaknesses and flaws is a necessary step in overcoming them. People achieving things despite their weaknesses does not mean that they didn't have those weaknesses or that those things weren't weak, just that they overcame them or compensated.
A deaf nigga that paints a nice painting is still deaf (ie. having extremely weak hearing).

The cure for weakness is strength.

I think that depends very much on the context of both the army and how you're dividing your points. I'm also still a newguy, but I think in the case of cavalry you might want to field it in a single unit? I haven't looked that deep into the rules for cavalry, but I'd imagine for a powerful cavalry charge and staying power you might want to keep them together. A champion, musician and banner could in that case help out, especially if you're going to be using these dudes as your main offensive capability.

To give an example of when I decided not to use a command set:
With my Empire force I get to work with detachment rules, so I gave my main regiment of buffed up halbs two blocks of 10 missile troops as support. I don't expect them to get into melee (although that might still happen), and as two detachments for a buffed up regiment I opted for maximising firepower over giving those small blocks some very minor bonuses in the grand scheme of things.
>>
>>97354229
For me I ask myself "is it important this unit wins its combats, and especially the combats that might be close?"

If the answer is yes I build command models.

Example: I want my block of 15 gors in combats and I want them winning so I build command for the extra combat resolution.

I dont care if my ungors with bows with a melee and dont ever expect them to, so I skip command for them
>>
>>97354229
Champion and musician are usually good to have on almost every unit. Champ especially is very valuable because of the challenge mechanic.

Banners are not worth putting on units units whose role is to slow down and/or harass the enemy. Your enemy gets 50pts for every banner he/she captures so having a banner on a unit of 5 marauder horsemen almost doubles the point you give when they eventually die.
>>
>>97354229
Modelwise yes, because I like the look of it. But in terms of rules I wouldn't take banners for chaff or horsemen. The extra CR isn't going to help them in any meaningful way (unless I'm specifically going for some kind of magic banner) and when they inevitably do get killed they won't give out free points like candy. The musician is good on everyone imo.

Read the actual post, because I don't know what the hell you're trying to say here - I didn't actually say that the Neverborn felt any particular way, for starters. Beyond that, almost everything in there is evidence, or extrapolating directly from the evidence given in the same sentence.

This is definitely more on the mystical side. How does this explain abyssals and infernals?
>>
>>97353639
The Neverborn aren't loyal to the Yozis, that's asinine.

They are also not driven by their suffering into a state of extreme compassion for those who aren't suffering like them, or into a desire to prevent others from falling into extreme suffering.

Look at literally all of their schemes. Death Lords, Abyssals, Whispers, Nephracks- they "want" to cause death (hopefully it could free them) and suffering (out of spite and mindless anger).

They don't give specific order, but if you're an Abyssal who genuinely wants to follow their guidance, and you're throwing spaghetti at the wall, "maybe if the Oblivion toilet is stopped up with these Primordials, we could plunger them down with MORE dead Primordials" isn't an insane thing to try.

It probably won't work, but then, probably nothing will alleviate the suffering of the Neverborn and it's not like that drives their servants to sit quietly forever doing nothing. They're always looking for horrific destructive atrocities to commit and killing a Yozi would 100% be on SOMEBODY's list.

Lmao. An actual mythographer wouldn't talk like that plus your impotent flexing is convincing literally no one of your alleged mythographer status. Simply, you just ain't one. Cope, seethe and dilate.

Douchemachine used to be the largest competition to GW.

Now look at it and laugh

>Also, their 3d printed models are disgraceful compared to stuff on MMF. they have 0 excuse. Still the same big chunks with soft details.

>Mk3 themes gave everyone PTSD. Today it's awesome combos, tomorrow it's themes requiring the newest riot quest model, priced at $100 for a limited edition figure smaller than a guardsman.

This. It sucks that the cryx army I loved playing back in the day is completely invalidated
>"dude, it's got a legacy list"
Ah yes. Legacy lists, those notoriously weak begrudgingly written lists to make it look like SF is actually on the side of older fans.

Found the problem. Remember that these retards bought some of the best wargaming IP's and ran them into the ground, including Darkage, my beloved.

> and now their big plan for ASOIAF is to fucking gut the best rules of the game so that players will better adhere to the original "vision" the lead developer has for the game, instead of playing the game as it emerged over years of active gaming
quick rundown? or rather, a longer retelling with more details

It's CMON. That alone should tell you everything you need to know.
they have a history of pump and dump kickstarters and buying really good games only to run them into the ground and drop them. Hence my decade+ of salt over Darkage and how they didn't even finish the new sculpts before ditching it fir the next big shiny. Those new Harpies looked so good

GW started doing shit with their IP outside of tabletops, which honestly gave them an edge that very few others have (Battletech does, although it doesn't have the same reach)

Grok's been giving me some pretty good results, at least. I can use the same general prompt format and get wildly different results with one or two word changes. I tried Gemini and it kept giving me essentially the same image over and over with very minute changes like weapons and armor.

The same 5 soldiers, same pose, same canyon, same camera angle, same style. Just different armor or weapons or grass patches or clouds.

Gemini's strength is in reference images, you can just find what you want on the net or god forbid try sketching it. In the pic above yours it drew me a pretty good impression of the Prague cop armor from DX:MD, but I kind of hated the rest of the result so I just cropped it to a portrait I could perhaps use sometime
