By blind evolutionary luck, some settings, or even individual images, with green, big-nosed goblins became more popular than settings without them. This meant that the next generation of settings took a greater amount of influence from that kind of goblins, causing a goblin snowball effect. At a certain point, that style of goblin became the majority, then the default.

Looking for feedback on what can I improve. I tried doing these volumetric highlights but getting smooth transitions is really difficult. Maybe I need another color between base and highlight, right now I just used phthalo green with pro acryl green oxide
>>97363279It might not be the advice you are looking for, but you could just get an airbrush and have silky smooth volumetrics in minutes. Doing volumetric transitions with acrylics by hand is imo akin to CBT.
>>97363279At a glance your edge highlighting is a bit messy and like you said your volumetric highlights don't blend that well. You should also widen your volumetric highlights so they look less like spots and more like proper blooming light. Lastly, you should pick a direction your imaginary light source is coming from. Right now your highlights are all over the place. Like if it's coming from above, his right arm should be highlighted more on the top rather than the side, the rounded pauldrons and jump pack are highlighted in opposite directions, etc.
