Don't you mean Vaesen?

Ventangle and Nechronica are my favorite d6 systems, but not what you're after

I definitely would count Symbaroum as horror too.

Same here. Mine uses a dice pool of no more than five and no less than two.
I also don't want the rules to make anyone who doesn't own a battlemat or want to deal with graph paper have to buy into those things, so I'm taking a page from Index Card RPG and suggesting they use playing cards or index cards to represent different locations and ranges during combat.

>No such thing as too much terrain for skirmish games right?
Literally yes.
I've played against people that complain that it meant they could walk their giant/ogre through the dense forest, but the elves and goblins could fit, as if that wasn't the point.
More terrain always.

It's only on one side, so you can just trim that structure off.

Bros I'm in the middle of an international move and all my crafting stuff is stuck in a box for the next 3 months while it ships over here. I think I'm just going to rebuy some of the basics so I can craft in the meantime. What would you do in my situation?

I always liked the Starcraft one. Polarized, armored bubble visor that projects a HUD as needed. Good visibility, too.

>"exploit" ideas
Anon, item customization at its most min-maxed will never even approach the amount of bullshit a core caster can do innately. Doing this only hurts martial classes.
>>
>>96472100
Anons, what is the race/template combo in that pic?
>>
>>96467887
In the games I DM for, I encourage diving deep into crafting autism by buffing the fuck out of armor and sheilds for non-casters. The rundown:
All these effects only apply to characters with proficiency.
>Armored warriors are Tankier
Armor's HP is added as temp-hp to the character and it's Hardness and AC bonus applies to attacks against this temp HP(including energy/spell damage).
Precision damage(Crits/Sneak Attack/Skirmish/Iaijutsu Focus/etc) ignore this temp hp.
>Armored Warriors are harder to Hit
Armor(not spells) with an AC of >=4 provide the secondary effects of cover(+2 untyped reflex, Evasion, AoO immunity)
Armor(not spells) with an AC of >=8 provide the secondary effects of Total Cover(+4 untyped reflex, Improved Evasion, Immunity to AoO)
Light Shields(not spells) provide the effects of Concealment(20% miss chance) against opponents in front of the user.
Heavy Shields(not spells) provide the effects Total Concealment(Immunity to direct targeting, area effects have 50% miss chance) against opponents in front of the user.
>Armored Warriors Save Lives
Any bonuses that improve an items saves also apply to the User when placed on armor.
A set of +5 fullplate gives a +5 enhancement bonus to all saves on top of any concealment bonuses.
>Casters and Armor don't mix well

>The net effect of this is that your average paladin is almost immune to magic, but can get folded by a good rogue(who in turn get folded by full-casters). This puts classes in a rock-papper-scissors situation
That's pretty cool.

||I am cognitively impaired due to being kicked in the ead by a orse.|| I don't need someone else to tell me to forget which window I'm typing in.
I didn't know Silent Legions had that sort of generator. Is it worth finding for that alone? Is the rest of the book(s) worthwhile?

>>96468521
Unfortunate but true, the writing room in probably ankle deep in good ideas discarded for being politically uncomfortable.

>>96469749
Just make it DG in a different country. Every structure like that is going to be stocked with bleak pragmatists across the middle layer, and controlled by weird ideologues at the top, from which your players should be fully insulated anyway.
>>
>>96470566
The game inside Silent Legions is not worth it. The sandbox generation is! It let's you generate a pantheon or two of elder gods, alien species cults and artifacts. Then you plug these into into your adventure locations using the Tag system. This gives you possible schemes, enemies allies etc etc. Then you can use the investigation generator that gives you further ideas to put it together, not dissimilar to a shotgun scenario maker. Then using your own intuition you bring it all together to create the grander conspiracy and, tada! You got your very own mythos sandbox!

Im excited because im trying an open table, with agents coming and going. I'll have a sort of communal corkboard where they can piece together what they know do future agents can be let in on the skinny.
>>
>>96469728
Convergence, the OG and still the best.
>>
>>96472178
Oh, that does sound cool.
I've had fun with the below generator a couple of times, having more of a full-spectrum builder would be handy and interesting.

NTA but I'm guessing it's worth waiting for the Third Edition box if I like the teams more? I don't really care at all for the Second Edition teams, though it does have the star players I could use and big guys I might eventually use
>>
>>96472500
The chances that you naturally just happened to be wanting a brettonian team and a khemri team together at the same time that GW announced a joint release of them is so vanishingly small as to be negligible.
So the reality is you only want one of them at best and any illusion to the contrary is your FOMO deluding you.
That being understood, if you really must have one of these GW teams then the best option (since you show a willingness to wait) is to wait for them to be sold individually or for someone to buy the box looking for the other team who then wants to sell off the team you are interested in.
>>
>>96472563
I understand your point, but here's how I came to it
>Want to get into BB
>Hmm Second Edition has everything, but I don't want either team
>Also figure new edition and set is coming out sooner rather than later
>I'll just play learn if I like the game on BB3, get Blitz Bowl to get friends involved and then buy Norse or regular Orks to play with friends at LGS
>Oh shid new edition with two badass looking teams, including Bretts who would be a contender for my starting team based on rule of cool
I still think I'm going to get Norse or Orks and see how I like tabletop. Haven't played Blitz Bowl yet with friends (I know it's really not the same game)
By the time I figure out if I want to invest and have friends who want to play, the new box should be out and hopefully available
I guess my question is about whether there is so much value in Second Edition that it's worth getting it and trying to sell the teams. I think my current course of action is good though
>>
>>96472621
I'd advice you to get team from non-GW source. If you want the GW norse or orc get them now, next month they're gonna increase the price, probably 5-10USD.
>>
>>96472621
>Second Edition
"second season" is the GW branding, this is more like 13th edition?
And no, people are only playing 2020 (and will only play 2025) because it's the current gw product, and it will live only so long as that status is maintained.
the 6th community edition (Living Rule Book 6) is the latest edition of the game that survived on it's own merit of being a good game that people wanted to play.
It is also the last version of the game to be designed with the involvement of the man who invented the game, as well as the last vrsion of the game to be released as a complete game all at once AND is the last version of the game to be playtested with a goal of making th game balanced and fun to play.
You say you are getting your friends into the game, so you aren't relying on the existence of an already established group, which means you can buy whatever team miniatures you want and play with whatever rules you want, so the free and complete LRB6 is a valid option here, you can play that and still buy whatever minis GW makes as they come out.

Dragons are one of the archetypal things you expect to see in fantasy, arguably even more than other mainstays of the genre like Elves, Dwarves, Gandalf-style wizards, etc. Be they monsters, incarnations of pure Good, Evil, or some other force or being, actual gods or other divine beings, shapeshifters who can take on human form as needed, or what, Dragons seem to capture our imaginations like no other, with cultures all over the world having legends of dragons and similar creatures. So, I figure it couldn’t hurt to talk about how you handle dragons on your own settings, and what your favorite depictions are. Art of dragons is fine too!

Problem I've had with dragons is that the main thing you do with them is slay them. Seems kinda silly for them to be extremely rare, even the young ones, and for it to take centuries to get a big one when it only takes 1 strong party to kill one and that same party can just go around killing more and more dragons. Then there's the times dragon might get defeated by normal people like what happened to Smaug. There's just no sensible way for dragons in most settings to exist if you have thousands of years of history and adventuring.

It has never been relevant to a game but dragons are just very successful kobolds. Still rare, still powerful and sometimes smart but the pool they have the potential to grow from is large.
>>
>>96463236
the only problem is the lack of writer restraint
every setting has gobs of leveled adventurers/heroes with at least semi-optimized builds and party compositions, most of the time they have really high ability scores, and of course plot armor

I don't think you should be limited to E6, but I try to stay in that mindset.

That’s supposed to be a dragon? I thought that Christianity views dragons as a symbol of the Devil? There’s a reason there’s tales of sacred knights killing then, after all.

The highest order of angels, the Seraphim, might be dragons. They are described to have many pairs of wings and their name translates to "serpentine ones".

Sure, kind of like the number of ultra-high net-worth individuals IRL. You generally wouldn't refer to those as the masses, either.
>>
>>96469904

This is what i'm talking about it seems like lunars want to make sure people have to interact with them or can't be ignored. If lunars were present in all three different realms of Exalted that'd raise questions on why they didn't focus on saving creation. Also I thought sidereals had charms revealed to them at the right time to be made specifically to deal with ghosts. If lunars are somehow more knowledgeable or capable of dealing with underworld then do you want them to pretty much just take the spot of the Green Lady?

>>
>>96472389
Sure. Well, not actually 'sure' because it's doubtful that Dragon-Blooded were evenly spread throughout Creation back then, but it's not really worth arguing about because it's not central to my point. I feel like you might've lost sight of what this discussion is about, so I'll just point you to the starting point: >>96461725 >>96468923. Furthermore I'll ask you to spend a moment thinking about the difference between what people mean when they talk about 'the masses' and what people mean when they talk about the the elite.

So have a bit of a scene I wrote while I'm waiting to be able to buy silk song. Nothing that important. Mostly just venti messing around and a glimpse at development.

The night sky shimmered overhead, The moon was bright and large, like a nightlight in the sky against the perpetual purple that seemed to hang over the endless sea.

Venti sighs looking up at it. The steady roar of traffic behind him ever going. He stares for a few minutes before deciding that was enough staring. Might as well take a look around the island. See what needed to be done.

He turns stepping off the beach. Approaching the highway, a endless stream of cars barreling down it
A step onto the air, and then another. The cultivator walks casually up the air over the stream of eternal traffic. Looking towards the mountain on the islands center.

The sect rose at a plateau near the top. A small temple like thing. Perhaps it could use a few more pillars made for it. Oh but... he did spend most of last night furnishing its inner hall. Something else could use his attention for now. Maybe the harbor? No he didn't remember that much at all, And making something wholesale would be a little bothersome for now. Maybe Ordin temple? Though the sect was already in pretty much the only place it'd fit. Perhaps cats? Venti always liked cats, his island deserved some cats. He decided to go with cats for now in lieu of other good options.

1/2
>>
>>96472199
The bard drifts absent mindedly to one of the houses on the inner side of the highway and steps through the front door. A good enough place as any for a cat house.

A few hours later. Venti smiles down at the pack of cats and one particularly house cat looking lion he was petting.
"Aww you're a good kitty." The cultivator grins rubbing the large cat's head. The beast purring contently
"You take care of your siblings okay?"
He sighs. Amused even if he was functionally talking to himself.
He adjusts his cloak, stepping out of the house. Well, that was most of the night spent on admittedly fairly minor things. but he'd made most of the core stuff already over the last few months.

It was going to need a lot more work. But he was happy with this place.
It sort of reminded him of home. From what he remembered of it at this point at least. He pauses and looks down. - Oh! that spot on a intersection looked a bit like how he remembered the street, a Mcdonalds in his hometown growing up. That could be a good next project.

The cultivator floats down to begin. Already beginning to plot out the shape for the building, But a familiar voice cuts through all of reality,as it begins to dissolve into something entirely different.
"Wake up! I made breakfast!"
He blinks, blearily orienting himself as he looks around the airy, wooden floored and walled room bedroom, light streaming through the window. to see his sister in the doorway. She had indeed made breakfast. Well dreamscape creating would have to wait until another night to continue.

"Man I'm sure glad that edge at the end of the ocean just leads back to the sky."

>Also, developing minor things is fun.
Mmhm. I wanted to see how realistic or confusing a bit trying to play off the dream as reality for the scene but he doesn't have the development to do that yet.
The dreamscape can be a fun. Even if He'd never call it a toy. It's sort of the ultimate creative tool in a way.

>Or at least, the place where he came from.
Exactly. It's basically a amalgamation of his hometown and his new life in Hyrule. Though as time goes on hyrules obviously gonna dominate more and more elements of the dreamscape. I do have the mental image of one of his attacks in the late second stage and third just to be opening a portal and out comes barreling a tiger or semi truck though.

>Cooking gets much easier when you can use Ki for all the kitchen equipment.
Saves a lot of money on kitchen equipment to. Though given venti and midna live with her they probably have them anyway.

Well, he is one of the prettiest boys around, and seems very open to emotional manipulation given his circumstances. It is worth a shot to try and steal from the Oni CEO and your Averate Twitter Artist.

He should try playing a solo rpg

You could try the absolute minimum of the Scarlet Heroes system - attacks damaging HD instead of HP - with OSE or Basic Fantasy. I used Basic Fantasy with that for a sort of Sword of Convallaria style game and it worked out alright

Getting anons riled up like it's Monday, welcome to another rocking thread of the Board Games General.

Previous: >>96428867

Pastebin: https://pastebin.com/h8Tz2ze8

Survey results: https://pastebin.com/YJPZ44rq

This general encompasses all board game genres - Eurogames, Ameritrash, Ameritreasure, Fillers, Party, Abstracts, Wargames, and especially the game that one anon is autistic about at this very moment.

TQs:
What off meta plays/builds have you seen severely irritate other players?

Are you a scripted openings or wild child type?

Looks like someone didn't pass Physics 101
>>
Pray for me as I attempt to complete the campaigns of two board games for HexPlore It volume 1 and 2.
Both are choose your own adventure style games using frankly absurdly large books with two columns of text per page on average. The first one is the smallest at just under 530 pages. Fortunately, it is said that most playthroughs will only experience around a fourth to a third of content.

The second campaign is roughly double the length of the first.

Physics 101 doesn't say that space=time. It says that the two are related and can be mathematically expressed as a 4D object.

That seems ridiculously strong
>>

The Emperor was ironically a large part of it.
Him seeing his sons mostly as weapons, and his general detachment from humanity are what sowed the seeds for the Heresy to happen, Chaos merely watered those seeds. Because he was so detached very few people actually knew his plans for Humanity, and what he wanted, so the people that came after had to draw conclusions based upon what he did and not his intentions.
The slow decline is also due to the loss of strong leaders like the Primarchs to death/coma/trapped in the Warp/whatever Jaghatai was doing, and the various factions of the Imperium preferring to not shake up the status quo because it was safer and more stable
But safer and more stable eventually to stagnation and decline as necessary changes and amendments either don't get made or don't get made fast enough

>Then the Ecclesiarchy had a huge fucking war with the entire galaxy about how everyone should be super religious, there was a period of time during which Nova Terra said "fuck the church and the High Lords, I'm gonna manage my own shit"
And that happened already after all of the Primarchs disappeared.
Space Marines left behind do not have legal authority to rule, unfortunately, so they were powerless to stop or change the political regimes. To the point that some Space Marines started getting religious themselves.

But essentially yeah, it's exactly the fault of Heresy. The big war devastated as much as it could reach, and already got the Big Man and most of his sons turned or killed.
And then those who left were eventually taken by the remnants of the traitors. With the exception of Khan.

Although, desu, it was always a little DUMB that the Emperor, even crippled as he is, does not exercize his right to rule. He's more or less aware of what's going on, broadly, and could issue orders if he wanted.
Instead, he's content to accept his fate as deity and let humanity sort itself or die trying.
