Depends, if you mean in terms of lore/worldbuilding that's a difficult question. If you mean in terms of design and gameplay the answer is Path of Exile and nothing else comes close, the entire game is built around exploiting the same types of small interactions that high-power formats are full of. It all runs off of keywords and the skill tree and gearing are similar to deckbuilding where your entire build is oriented around one core concept that you boost in several loosely associated ways.
Other games in the genre tend to use "Legendary" items as the highest tier of rarity and they're just straight better than everything else, whereas PoE calls them "Unique" items instead because they give you one specific effect that is useless for most builds and rarely outweighs the benefits of having a good stat stick in that slot instead, but if you find a way to exploit it then you can do things that would be impossible otherwise.
Chris Wilson, the original lead dev, is a huge Magicfag and collects ABU-era misprints as a hobby, and the whole reason PoE exists is because he wanted to put Magic's design into Diablo 2's gameplay.

*band roguelikes that branch from Zangband, since they include Amberites, if you just played MtG and let that bias choose what you see on the screen. I particularly like Poschengband 3.5.1, but feel free to try newer/supported branches, I think some anon created Pseudoellisposchengband, and you can play Frogcomposband on mobile if you care for it. Amberites really feel like planeswalkers, their passive regen makes them monsters in battle even if you're a caster, and you can easily color-code your gish with the right paladin domain or wizard-warrior combination.
You won't get the broken 3 card combo going infinite that easily, as Angband variants are more "fair" and about numbers going up instead of Ulyssean exploits. But it feels like what MtG felt when I started playing in Onslaught, casually.

Most systems and book series go through various answers but normally elves make better wizards overall. Either the elves have an extra century or two to learn and master their craft, or they are some inherently magical species that is just plain better by birth. It's all the same in the end.

Humanity's strength is always in numbers. They are not the best at anything but they are more populous. They are the smart horde species while orcs, goblins and everything else that wins wars through wave tactics are complete savages. Humans are the mostly intelligent wave tactic savages that can be kind of not shit at things.

Have we done anything with John Browning yet? I've been discussing gun designs with a friend, and the subject of Browning came up with him getting started in this exact period. Of course, most of his more famous designs, the 1911, Hi-Power, .50 M2, etc. are from later, but he was still designing and making several firearms before the turn of the century. And we've nudged the development period of certain designs before, with the Maxim I believe.

I'm just divided on whether to keep him pretty normal with a blank cheque from the government post-Paraguay, or work in something Hyperborean. He'd basically be a saint up there with everything he's made/going to make. Alternately, I thought about somebody finding a 1911 or something on the battlefields of Paraguay and it makes its way into his hands (2000 Psychic Wars!)

My personal experience boils down to a single utter shitshow of a game which didn't even last a session, because the GM quite literally opened with "Okay so you're all on a spaceship and you want to go do some heresy, there's three planets nearby, a forgeworld, an agriworld, and a hiveworld, pick one and then go kill some people." The situation devolved from there. Note the distinct lack of "who are your guys and what are their motives, why are you all working together, what's your objective" in there. An hour in and nobody's mentioned my name once, the GM clearly doesn't care to go into enough detail to make tech-use applicable, so I mentally check out, lower the volume to something less distracting, and go finish a video lecture. Get up for a bathroom break, come back, the server's fucking gone. I ask my buddy, another player, what the fuck happened, and he just says "Sometimes you gotta rip it out root and stem, man."

Now that's just a shit GM being a shit GM, but it's representative of a subset of people who are only there to do lolrandom dumbfuckery. Black Crusade attracts those like flies, because they see "this game is about being horrible evil chaos bastards" and they think "oh, finally, a game for me!" They don't want to engage with the game as it's meant to be played, they want to use it as an excuse to act in ways that are unacceptable at a table, and they think the subject matter gives them that excuse. Y'know, like FATAL.

This is not exclusive to the lolrandoms, either, but I'm fresh out of brain juice so I'm just gonna tell you to imagine That Guy, think about what makes him That Guy, and think about whether he thinks he could use Black Crusade as an excuse for being That Guy. I'm telling you, man, it's like flies. And it's fucking shameful, because the careful political aspects of balancing a chaos warband are actually a compelling premise.

Basically the powers of plastic man and then some. Traditionally? No
A bullet that breaks on contact is equally as deadly as one that stays intact, and in several cases the shrapnel can actually do more damage
A bullet breaking doesn't stop the momentum of the bullet
As for the gunpowder, It depends. Most modern bullets are not actually stuffed entirely with explosive for obvious cost concerns
If you can picture a stick of dynamite compared to the blast it makes, remember that dynamite is actually an older weaker explosive and newer ones can be much more dense

If there were, for whatever reason, a market for bullets that could kill dragons they would certainly be doable
(but would each individually run like 200-400)
(And also the chamber would need to be much stronger)
(And the recoil would be intense)
(Still cheaper and less risky then 20 years of adventuing, but quite hasslesome)

For Centaurs, you should be able to use them as mounts when not in combat if they're lightly armed & armored. I think you could ride into battle with them and fight on their back without overburdening them, depending on your loadout. Squeezing into dungeons and caves might be a bit of a bitch, and your centaur companion may find themselves too cumbersome to accompany you in certain locations. If people in wheelchairs can make do, I'm sure a transmog potion or a shrinking potion might solve the problem.

They're more at home here for sure, like having a horse. Some taverns may give you a hard "no" for your centaur companion, but I'm sure regions that are steeped in centaur culture or adjacent ones have accommodations for their unique anatomy. If nothing else, they could help carry your camp supplies and other provisions.

If you're not riding them, I think they can be pretty well armed and armored- think tower shield and a mace/flail. They also make good spearmen, so I think they'd be comfortable wielding a halbard and similar pike-style weapons. This would be with them wearing plate mail cuirass for the human portion and chainmail curtain over their horse hind quarters, or perhaps some specially fitted Gambeson. Other plate sections could be fitted to their horse body as needed. Archery and crossbows seem like they'd work for ranged options. I've not considered them using magic, but having a fairly mobile spellcaster seems cool as well.

Still getting the hang of the exploration but overall I like the core game loop, it feels flexible enough to expand on with some actual roleplaying but easy to fall back on. I like the settlement mechanics, it adds a fun base building element. His GMless sections keep getting better, this one has a nice bit on plots with hook generation and tension elements and stuff. Always like the balance of art to dense words he has in his rulebooks too, and the artist he got for this book is really really good.

Gonna be playing strange aeons with my friends. The party is a barbarian, mesmerist, and a witch. I was looking at the oracle. The thematic suggestions are dark tapestry, lore, and time. As a first time oracle I was curious which of these I would have the least amount of trouble with.

Dunno if the devs know their audience but they definitely know the IP holder.

We're going to have to come up with a phrase for the new era of Warhammer 40,000 ushered in by the Amazon TV show, DoW 4 and Total War 40k, and increased market value of Games Workshop.

nu40k isn't going to cover it. nu40k is already bad enough for many of us from headier days like 1st through 4th edition. You are going to see horrific debasements to the thing you know and love that you will still see with your eyes closed. Every 80 IQ person with internet access will have an opinion on Warhammer without knowing what a Tau Remora Drone is.

Make it a Dark Heresy show, 4 acolytes form 4 different worlds, easy to get newcommers to understand the lore, wide range of story and you can always put in some Deathwatch in the lot.

Of course, DH was in 815.m41, everyone's now dead since we're 1000 years in the future for some reason, where every Cadians is now a Black woman.

And yes sex, sex and swearing is what writers understand now, can't have a show with either for some reason. sometimes I wonder if I'm too smart for entertaiment, or it is simply too dumb for me.

I'm not against a Dark Heresy show, but if you're going to have the first 40k show it needs to be IG. It's down to earth, you can have an enemy of the season or episode, and the Guardsmen barely know anything. It's the perfect introduction.
You try Space Marines or the Inquisition, and the audience immediately has to swallow Imperial religion and "kill the mutant and witch" and normalfags will run.

The problem with an IG show is the inevitable turn into non military slob to attract the female market, not to mention the mandatory Commissar killing guardsmen.
Althought if they take it seriously, which they won't, and make it like Combat! or Tour of Duty, it might be worth watching. Plus there's pretty much Cadians and Cathachan left as 'official' Regiments, Death Korps are just clones made to fight and die and who will make a show about soldiers who ever show their faces all the time for real?
