You should fear being gay and wrong. Mechs are anthropomorphic. They need to have some kind of non-conventional element like legs or a head or hands. Heavy object isn't mecha. They're literally just tanks.
>I'll just say that I consider mecha to be giant
You just said votoms isn't mecha and you're gay and wrong.

>if all you did was play a loud crunch sound and shake the screen + some motion blur from the explosion
No, that's actually going to lead to players asking "why does the game keep shaking the screen and making loud noises and getting blurry?" because the cars are minuscule and hard to notice. You've shot out the other end and you think small immersive details should override everything else.

How about coloring? How do YOU paint your mechs? Are there ace customs?

well I'll talk setting because I don't have minis (unfortunately)
My setting is mostly civilian monster hunters fighting monsters, although the military do use mechs as well but in combined warfare strategies (as regular vehicles and missiles can shut down mechs pretty easily if the pilots aren't above average).

The civilian monster hunters are basically all Ace Customs, without the aces - the organizations benefit from their pilots having good branding, so they incentivize their pilots to customize their mechs and paint livery on them based on their own tastes and aesthetics, so the pilots gain reputation individually and said reputation is tied to their organization. There are mechanical artisans that specialize painting, vanity, physical modifications on parts and more (which is the excuse I give my players to allow a variety of mech designs regardless of parts equipped), which means there's a massive culture of mecha fancy, both for combat but also for entertainment (as mechs are used in a variety of fields besides combat). Each region has a dominant aesthetic for the average mecha pilot, but there's tons of variation; A war that occurred a few years ago kind of shuffled people around worldwide, so there's a bit of everything everywhere. Not all pilots want to play doll though, and it's perfectly fine to just buy your parts and use them the way they are, but there will probably be SOMETHING your average pilot will want to change.

Military mechs are usually standardized with their paint and design, and commanders have small markings for the sake of it. Military mechs are MUCH more powerful than your average civilian monster hunting mech though (as in, they actually use live AP ammo and have access to good transport and sensors), so if you see 3-4 greyish/greenish mechs using practically the same parts and equipment, you fucking run.

The only store near me is full of obnoxious insufferable autists so I've only played there once. I could tell early on I was gonna despise them so I made sure to lie about not living anywhere near there and when I'm getting something at the store it's just because I'm "in the area visiting my family"

The scouting phase was cool and unique, the game is worse without it. People who complained are the ones who complain about the game not having lists or not being like the older versions of the game.
That people don't play the game and are unable to understand why the game is nice now.
>>
If a man were to play Wrecka Krew what would be a good loadout and stuff to keep in mind with them?

I definitely will play the Demolisha, Krusha, and Rokkiteer, but what else should I have? I heard having two Breaka Boy Fighters is also a potent mix, I am stretching out from playing specifically marine teams, so I'm a tad at odds here.

Also, I wish the Nob had more armor on him, I'm thinking of greenstuffing chainmail on his exposed parts. Thoughts?

Joint Ops is ny favorite way to play KT, if I was honest. I make a whole zombie scenario with unique scatter terrain and what not ever October. And I like allying with Legions(Larping the Great Crusades), or allied forces to take down big enemy teams like Cultist Compounds, Hive Fleets, Ork Mobs etc

I'm working on a setting for a game, by which I mean I've been shitposting about it with my friend, but I've come up with enough ideas that I actually want to run it now. Help me brainstorm if you want. To be clear I'm not intending to make this a "tg setting", it's just for my own personal game, but feel free to steal any ideas you want for your own thing if you wish, you could even make your own thread.

Nothing in the setting has to make sense. The only thing I care about it is that it's whimsical and / or provides the players with fun stuff to interact with. I want to focus on physical, player-facing features. History, deities (if any), religion, and the like are not important at this time. Because of the rule system I'm using, no magic system is required, that's already taken care of. Here's what I have so far.

By the way, don't worry about your ideas being good or bad, and please be positive about other people's ideas. If I feel something doesn't fit, I just won't use it.

Besides locations and creatures, please feel free to suggest events, adventures, and characters. All characters in the world are talking animals.

General idea : basically sword and sorcery but it's like a children's book and takes place in a holiday / dessert / candy-themed world. Pretty much an episode of adventure time.

All fauna and terrain is made of some kind of food. All water features (rivers, lakes, etc.) are filled with milk instead of water, and milk has the inherent magical property of being permanently self-chilling, and it is always clean and safe to drink.

Important rule : All sapient animals are "normal" (except that they talk and wear clothes). All non-sapient animals are made of food.

So something I'm just tossing out there, the Virizid, are only rough Imperial technology(Advanced Space) and their naturally long lived(100~200 years). So if we factor in rejuvenants they could probably live centuries. What if they still haven't mastered warp travel. They just travel through real space because they're in no rush to their destination. They haven't been able to distinguish, AoS humans or the Imperium. During the Great Crusade some Space Marine legion rocked their shit but the Heresy started. Imperial records thought they were effectively genocided but the crusade only reached outer colonies. So Virizid are slowly reclaiming worlds that they lost and they stumble upon the Frontier world and their fleet was armed and ready to engage a much larger force than what was stationed there.

I was going to suggest giving them all a common enemy related to their goals/enemies, but the characters don't seem to have a lot in common.

You can have them try falsely accused or framed for a crime that leads to a larger conspiracy.

I was considering maybe have them be hired by someone to defend the child pope in Thrane from a suspected assassination attempt after she pushes for the church to relclassify monster races as "not inherently evil", sort of as a PR move like "hey, look at these good monsters!", only for the entire job to be a set-up to have them be caught in some kind of compromising position where the templars come in and frame the party as the assassin's. The whole thing would be orchestrated by the Head Cardinal who wants the church to go back to its old, less tolerant ways.

Rough ideas of a plan, but that's what I've come up with so far.

Two questions:
1) Any ideas for convincing them not to do that? (We play 5E, Call of Cthulhu and occasionally OSE)
2) If I had to pick, which one of the two is the least cancerous?

This is incorrect.

Capital is in the continent of Rioja, which is separated from the continent of Vasloria by an ocean and a supernatural maelstrom. They have trade and contact with one another (there are always people foolhardy enough to brave the maelstrom), but the vortex limits it.

Rioja and Vasloria are both continents of the world of Orden, which is one of the lower worlds. While the upper worlds have the metaphysical energies necessary for space opera technology to function, the lower worlds do not, as per the core rulebook, p. 12:

>Traveling downward from Quintessence one arrives on Orden, the Plane of Gods and Sorcery, highest of the lower worlds where magic rules. The gods, forbidden from interfering directly in a world with such a low energy state, rely on saints to enact their will. Technology from the upper worlds does not function down here, unless powered by a strong psionic mind or the miracle mineral iridoss, also known as prismacore.

The division between the subsettings is fairly coherent. I know that it might superficially look like a wild hodgepodge of a setting where lots of memonek and time raiders are running around """""medieval""""" fantasyland, but it is not.

>>97185995

There are actual rules for montages (i.e. 4e-style skill challenges) and negotiations. That is more than D&D 5e and Daggerheart can say.
>>
>>97181378
If you're not interested in either then why force yourself to run it? If they players are really interested then they can run it with you as a player.

I haven't played Daggerheart but I love DS. If you like shit that makes you feel cool and smooth engaging combats I recommend that system heavily. I could talk a lot about the things I like about it.

PC option balance in Draw Steel is okay enough. There are definitely some outliers and "correct" builds.

Forced movement builds completely demolish enemies without high stability, and a hakaan null (metakinetic) is probably the one build with the highest optimization ceiling in the game because of this. Yes, a "monk" shoving people around is as strong as it gets. A good runner-up might be a hakaan fury likewise abusing forced movement, probably with a Hurling weapon for range.

I hope you do not mind some Reddit links, because these two threads cover a hakaan null and a hakaan fury:
https://www.reddit.com/r/drawsteelbuilds/comments/1mulvvi/what_are_your_thoughts_on_a_hakaan_nulls/
https://www.reddit.com/r/drawsteelbuilds/comments/1mwh4p1/the_king_a_reaver_fury_forced_movement_build/

Aside from these, I have noted that virtually every high-optimization party wants a tactician (i.e. warlord), because it allows a party to coordinate their tactics and focus their fire far better than, say, a troubadour (i.e. bard). Similarly, the talent (i.e. psion) has some rather nutty hard control, like level 2 Slow and level 3 Fling Through Time, and its level 1(!) Flashback allows the party to spam some of its better synergies.

Honorable mention goes to the fury's level 2 You Are Already Dead, which can completely blow through a higher-level elite and trivialize it.

Vista edition

>Cyberpunk 2020 vs. Cyberpunk RED?
Cyberpunk 2020 is the second edition of the Cyberpunk TTRPG that focuses on simulation gameplay and has a black trenchcoat aesthetic.

Cyberpunk RED is the fourth edition of the Cyberpunk TTRPG that is set after Cyberpunk 2020 following the Fourth Corporate War, focuses on more balanced gameplay and is more streamlined but has less content.

You can discuss Shadowrun here too because I also feel bad for those guys.

Corporate War lore is flawed, I agree. In the setting there is "four" corporate wars but of them all only really the Fourth and """maybe""" the Second are conflicts that could be considered to slightly resemble actual wars, the other two are pretty small scale operations. This is in spite of the fact that Cyberpunk 2020 is supposed to be a setting where corporations violently targeting rivals in small scale ops is already normal, and big corporate conflicts that quote "make Vietnam and Afghanistan look like picnics" are supposed to be an accepted occurrence across the world.
All in all, I tend to prefer the V3 take of the fourth corporate war eventually spiraling out of control into what is essentially the setting's WW3 involving the world's nations because the big corps just have that much pull.
The canon conclusion to the war because nations are powerful enough to just lol nationalize Militech and Arasaka assets, just makes both companies look incredibly retarded for ever thinking they could get away with it.

This reminds me why aren't there more villains with memory manipulation? They could make the hero forget their powers, make them forget the keys/password to their own lair, make them forget to breathe, or implant false memories of doing something terrible to torture them with guilt

Of course, in a real game the mediocre apathetic GM will be shuttling you as a single group from one meaningless combat encounter to the next, so the powers on your character sheet are your only means of interacting with the game, so you'd better pick interesting ones.

I just found out about Dispatch, how does the setting rank? And what are some other supers settings that you would recommend looking at for ideas that more obscure than the big names (Marvel, DC, etc.)?

what does rank mean?

Now unleashing their fury upon those that dare to stop their rise! Gors swing into the twin dragons, pulling one to the ground only to meet the fury of its brother. The surviving ghorgon rampaging into the Concussors, the depraved stride of the slaangors cutting down the palladors. A truly tally of bloodshed spilled across the battlefield, drawing the attention if those beyond the veil.

Based Battle Report anon. Appreciate the commentary. That ethereal spray is an interesting colour.

there's not really any fluff sections unless you mean the paragraph of fluff text for each of the spearhead factions in the booklet. It's pretty thin, it's just core rules, spearhead rules, some of the spearhead factions stats and that's it.

that would be helpful to play wouldn't it? If I can get my scanner working I'll try to reupload it with the cards.

If I had to make a guess, one of the dual kit options for new dok might resemble the old cauldron guard.

Duelist elf hoes could be a fun elite choice, but I'd imagine they'd need some monster girl trope to fit with what gw wants to do with them in aos

For TCG proxies? Making it look good if you have transparent back sleeves isn't worth the effort unless you have access to very thick card stock and a printer that is compatible with that. The common thing is take the card fronts only, print them, get sleeves with a solid back, slide some chaff mtg into the sleeve, slide the printed card front over it.

If you're using something like ultra pro ultra matte or whatever tf they're called, if you use any average commercial grade printer or like a decent inkjet at home once you slide it in if you sized it right no one can tell its a proxy if it's just an average game with someone across a table. The sleeve fronts are kinda textured and foggy in a way that I've printed foils and you can barely tell even they're not real from certain games where they're not physically textured. I use mtg as the backs because they have that solid black border and then black sleeves, it makes it less sus as well

>til the Blue Furok fan site for Magi Nation finally went to the flgs farm upstate.
It stings a bit.
Ive been using that site since what feels like 2004 to look up cards and reread the short stories.

It's what TCGs are for. their purpose is to milk players like cattle, and discard them when they stop producing. any of these games could as easily be a boardgame or LCG. by choosing to launch as a TCG, James was telling you up front that "fuck over old players" was always going to be part of the deal. he unambiguously informed you up front the nature of your relationship. stop acting surprised.

>AAAAA FUCK YOU JAMES CAGE WHITE THE GAME IS TOO FUCKING EXPENSIVE
But I never said that. Different people, ones who haven't been playing long, were sick of the fact the older cards were flushed out of the market and expensive. Their ubiquity serves as a different complaint, but that also significantly drives up the price. There's simply no other viable options. Not a lot of people realize how much gear and other cards get reused across all heroes.

>AAAAAA FUCK YOU JAMES CAGE WHITE THE GAME IS TOO SIMILAR TO HOW ITS ALWAYS BEEN
I think that's largely due to the fact that we now know why these cards are the only ones worth using. LSS refuses to advance the game designs to produce so much as a side grade, or ideally something different and new. They stopped experimenting and instead chose to reiterate their works.

Imagine how exciting this new set would be if they spent all those Legendary slots on brand new and unexplored alternatives to the most reused cards instead of clogging it up with reprints?
