Remember that these retards bought some of the best wargaming IP's and ran them into the ground, including Darkage, my beloved.
>>97331983>>97354521> and now their big plan for ASOIAF is to fucking gut the best rules of the game so that players will better adhere to the original "vision" the lead developer has for the game, instead of playing the game as it emerged over years of active gamingquick rundown? or rather, a longer retelling with more details
>>97354548It's CMON. That alone should tell you everything you need to know. they have a history of pump and dump kickstarters and buying really good games only to run them into the ground and drop them. Hence my decade+ of salt over Darkage and how they didn't even finish the new sculpts before ditching it fir the next big shiny. Those new Harpies looked so good
GW started doing shit with their IP outside of tabletops, which honestly gave them an edge that very few others have (Battletech does, although it doesn't have the same reach)

5 person Level 5 party.
Why is the ghost a generic combatant? Ghosts used to be something special, you encountered one and maybe it knew it was a ghost, maybe it didn't. We encountered one once that was a looping messenger whom died before he delivered his message centuries ago, and putting him to rest was a fun challenge. Make it something interesting, the ghost of a long dead adventurer seeking his missing party, a noble bound to a family heirloon worn by one of the zombies or dropped in the dungeon at some point, the ghost of a priestess unable to find rest as her corpse lies on cursed ground...Don't make it a combat encounter, use your brain.

>>97354589PArt of what ruined it is the idea of a "balanced encounter"Back in the day, the encounter is just what existed there. Whether or not you could fight it was a choice you had to make.

>>97344545I don't even remember where exactly the specifics of the design came from. They're obviously bugs and their queens are based on termite queens, but stuff like the head-crests and the long cerci on the males just came about at some point while I was working on the design. Tbh the head-crest is a pain in the ass to draw consistently at different angles and I kind of regret it.They're probably my favorite species in the setting because the design came about a bit more organically, while a lot of the other species have a pretty obvious theme with the design. And also because I think it's fun to draw a bunch of completely non-humanoid bugs in fancy clothing.

>>97354053Yeah Medtech is even worse with Surgery being useless and Cyro/Pharmaceuticals capping out in usefulness pretty early. They should be streamlined similar to Techs getting all their specializations for free and Surgery and Medical Tech becoming normal skills they get a Bonus for along with the other medical skills like Paramedic, First Aid and Cybertech
>>97353910It seems like the general EMP effect is set at Cyberware DV15 and disables 2 pieces of the ref's choosing. Now I used to scoff at this low DV but only recently did I realize nobody puts points into Cyberware outside of the tech/medtech and maybe put 4-5 points in TECH (gotta max out REF, DEX, and COOL for combat optimization baybey) so suddenly EMP can be insanely dangerous and only nat 10's can save you.The Rostic Kleaver has the on fire effect, ignores armor effect, and bonus 1d6 damage effect so I wonder if there is one more bonus ability that could be squeezed in, especially since this is a 5,000eb tier weapon? Also you could make your own brand, become the next Eren Malour.
Why do some of you want Cyberpunk to play like an MMO? We already have Elflines.

I am making a more OSR Survival type rule set for 5e>Just play another gameI know others, this is just for the stubborn "I only play 5e" types. The overall goal is to make it play with more of a focus on resource management, day to day survival, and making threats actually a threat.Change so farShort Rest takes 8 hours. This can be sleep, relaxing, or a downtime activity. At the end of the 8 hours you can spend HD to recover HP as normal, and recover your other SR abilities. Sleep still needs to happen every 24 hours. Depending on the conditions of sleep you can get bonuses like rolling a free HD to recover HP or get back a single HD.Long Rest for HD recovery takes a full 24 hours off. You can do this during a Downtime day and be active but not adventuring during the day.Rations and living costs are actually used, not an extra rule just something that should be enforced. >>97352667Here are my rules1. FTL travel is only possible with a real sentient person controlling the ship. Don't try brain in a jar, it backfires.2. FTL communication inside of a solar system is possible, but only through some fairly expensive infrastructure.3. The vast, vast majority of information is carried by courier ships who must make the FTL travel by themselves.4. There is instant FTL galaxy-wide communications available, but only the big giant ancient asshole alien empire knows how to do it, and only those people extremely, extremely high up get to use it. This typically takes the form of pre-recorded video messages. A live holo-link with a member of the Imperial Court means someone on the other side of the call really fucked up. Humans (aka players) have access to this tech, but can only send very simple text messages, like telegrams, can be vulnerable to distortion, it's not reliable.I like the feeling of Traveller "Age of Sail" communication, but I also want to leave myself open to other stuff.

>>97351627The diplomacy is the interesting part (to me). Livius writes some very entertaining speeches for the various Greek factions as the Romans and Macedonians vie for their support. Then there's the naval battles, naval siege, concerns for winter quarters and all that. The actual battles are very short, the maneuvering and planning is where it's most interesting. Suits itself to a campaign game more than single battles I'll admit.Alexander and the successors have some good battles. A great one is the siege of Tyre where they built a dam to the (then) island fortress, still visible today.>>97351443> Germans defeat the soviets by... surrounding them> Canadians defeat germans by...shooting at them as they walked forward> Hitler was defeated because...their lines were biggerWW2 warfare is just endless hordes of Shootmen smashing into each other. >>97352674What are these radical ‘fixes’ then? I’m genuinely curious. Worst-case scenario you give us all some pointless well-worn platitudes, at best you save some lives from waste.I think referring to depression as ‘mental weakness’ is pretty reductionist too - Lincoln, Churchill, Newton, Grant all suffered from awful depression and achieved great things - and that’s before we even get into all the great contributions to the arts made by people exhibiting this ‘mental weakness’.
>>97353733Lovely stuff.
>>97354566>mental weaknessNTA, but calling it weakness is entirely accurate. A man who can't pick up his infant son is just objectively physically weak (ie. less strong than expected for his species). A man who can't get arsed to get out of bed and provide for himself and his family is mentally weak (ie. less motivated or disciplined than expected for his species). And I'm saying this as someone who still "deals with depression" or whatever we're gonna call being a weak cunt.Acknowledging your weaknesses as weaknesses and flaws is a necessary step in overcoming them. People achieving things despite their weaknesses does not mean that they didn't have those weaknesses or that those things weren't weak, just that they overcame them or compensated.A deaf nigga that paints a nice painting is still deaf (ie. having extremely weak hearing). The cure for weakness is strength.

>>97354229I think that depends very much on the context of both the army and how you're dividing your points. I'm also still a newguy, but I think in the case of cavalry you might want to field it in a single unit? I haven't looked that deep into the rules for cavalry, but I'd imagine for a powerful cavalry charge and staying power you might want to keep them together. A champion, musician and banner could in that case help out, especially if you're going to be using these dudes as your main offensive capability. To give an example of when I decided not to use a command set:With my Empire force I get to work with detachment rules, so I gave my main regiment of buffed up halbs two blocks of 10 missile troops as support. I don't expect them to get into melee (although that might still happen), and as two detachments for a buffed up regiment I opted for maximising firepower over giving those small blocks some very minor bonuses in the grand scheme of things.
>>97354229For me I ask myself "is it important this unit wins its combats, and especially the combats that might be close?"If the answer is yes I build command models.Example: I want my block of 15 gors in combats and I want them winning so I build command for the extra combat resolution.I dont care if my ungors with bows with a melee and dont ever expect them to, so I skip command for them
>>97354229Champion and musician are usually good to have on almost every unit. Champ especially is very valuable because of the challenge mechanic. Banners are not worth putting on units units whose role is to slow down and/or harass the enemy. Your enemy gets 50pts for every banner he/she captures so having a banner on a unit of 5 marauder horsemen almost doubles the point you give when they eventually die.
>>97354229Modelwise yes, because I like the look of it. But in terms of rules I wouldn't take banners for chaff or horsemen. The extra CR isn't going to help them in any meaningful way (unless I'm specifically going for some kind of magic banner) and when they inevitably do get killed they won't give out free points like candy. The musician is good on everyone imo.
