What can you do to make bandit encounters more immersive and interesting than the old ambush-fight shtick?
blackmail
>>97349486The bandits are on the payroll of a rival kingdom to spread disease across its fields and use rats as the main vector. They're the reason for those nasty creatures infesting the inn's basement.
>>97349486Robber Knights: AKA bored second and third sons of nobility with nothing to do and nothing to inherit that fucked off and lead a life of crime causing nothing but trouble and occasionally joining in in whatever military campaign was going on.
>>97353837Feels like something like that would be a stronger encounter than what the "bandit" moniker usually implies. That's like throwing an enemy PC at the party.
>>97349486The bandits have their Cocks out during the fight, fully hard, but never explained. If any character interrogates them they just look confused and if push comes to shove will swallow a false tooth poison pill.

>>97352074▶ Arc Sword 1000eb (Very Expensive) An epic sword of proportions seen only in most anime brain dances, the Arc Sword is integrated with spectacular coil channelling stored energy into devastating electrified strikes. No subtlety, no pardon. >Two-Handed Exotic Very Heavy Melee Weapon that requires BODY 11 or higher to wield. When charged with a 50eb (Costly) battery pack it deals 5d6 damage instead of 4d6. Single battery pack last for 10 swings regardless whether they hit or miss. Replacing the battery pack is an Action. ,I guess it could be Radline manufactured
>>97352247Really cool, maybe a 5k version could include a emp effect on hit? energy weapons in the 2020s would do that sometimes
>>97352390Thanks, I tend to make weapons as vague as possible, although I was tempted a few times to brand my weapons, but always didnt.ie I've never made "Militech Zeus" but a "Marksman Rifle" instead.I like my stuff to be as modular as possible though, and non specified fluff is a part of that. I'll admit it sometimes was hard, or rather kind of tiresome to deconstruct every shit I post (and there's a lot of them) just to provide generic description. But I've found solace in making the fluff describe what a weapon does mechanically, but from in-world perspective.>emp effect on hit?Sure, 5K seems like a good spot to do so. I'd either copypaste microwaver text (with a name change etc.) or just straight up direct reader to the microwaver "on a succesfull hit weapon forces a EMP effect, much like a microwaver would do (see Corebook pg. XXX)"Hope it helps
>>97348419>I do not have and coming out in support of "criticism" that involves throwing a functional and important rule system into the dumpster; they can fuck off and you can fuck off with them.I my experience Invention is the least used Tech ability. Field Expertise is by far the most useful and Upgrade/Fabricate are more situational, but still get alot of use because of how strong they are early game. I don't think players really want to go through the "GM may I" process described in core, so don't want to commit Tech levels to the specialty.I think a "fix" to this issue is just to streamline things and grant the Tech all it's specialties each level instead of forcing you to pick two.
>>97348419>important rule systemSo important that it outright doesn't exist in any other edition of the game?

>>97353888Nothing wrong with it. If anything, in reality, magic would be indistinguishable from science. Isaac Newton, the father of modern science, was an avid occultist and alchemist.

>>97353760Not bad. I like how it can't pick someone up.
>>97353829i copied cure wounds instead this time and then just to err on the side of caution, i decided to just make healing very accessible and cheap but not completely free. its very inconvenient to use in combat. i could hypothetically tune it so that eats a whole kit and it would still be really efficient 1d6 heal for 5 gp, which is way better than potions but still bad. that way however it doesnt invalidate healer feat
>>97353857Not when the Healer feat does that
>>97353959healer feat is limited by hit dice, this is not. it is balanced via throughput and a conservative limit. its meant to allow you to continue limping on
How much would/should changing the default setting from High Medieval to Late Bronze Age change the game? For example, lowering AC across the board to simulate the lack of general armour. How much would that affect balance?
>>97352271>>97352302Ah, now I see. You're trying to defend "why Gurps' bronze age system is good enough." I'm talking "facts about the bronze age."Sure man--gurps is fine. Its historical take is pretty bad, but it's perfectly servicable.
>>97351007Hey I remember that map. Cool to see it come together anon.
>>97352581According to my studies, most of the glass present in the near-east in the Bronze Age was this green impact-crater glass mined from the Kamil meteorite crater near the Libyan border.I think the Romans credit the Carthaginians with inventing blown glass, which is a while after the bronze Age, wouldn't quote me on it mind, as I'm going purely from memory.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nyu4u3VZYaQ
>>97350771He said bronze age, not necessarily India. Set it in Egypt or China and they'd actually be civilized.
Are interspecies pairings allowed in your game?
>>97353793>it'd be hilarous to see a human just completely manhandling a na'vi twice his size with little to no difficultyThat's the real bitch of it - it may not be as effortless as you make it out to be.Low gravity is a weird thing and a real complication, both short and long-term.You begin to really appreciate the gravity when you're trying to stop things from flying off due to the lack of it.Gravity, to an extent, helps you handle things, as it bleeds some of the kinetic energy off.tl;dr: manhandling a na'vi would be extremely awkward for all parties involved.I do love the mental image, though. It is hilarious.
>>97353896It is something you can learn to grow used to though, as evidenced by astronauts coming down from the ISS dropping shit all the goddamn time. The issue would be maintaining your muscle and bone strength over a long period, but I imagine that if they've gotten to the stage where interstellar travel is possible, they probably have better solutions to that than us, especially since there's resources on other planets in the solar system. Though even something as simple as a human being able to pick up and throw a na'vi or being able to easily yank a weapon out of their hands would work. Or a Na'Vi trying to pick a human up and failing because holy shit this thing is way heavier than it looks
>>97353918I'd be more concerned about the cardiovascular complications than the loss of muscle and bone density, not that it's any less important, mind you.Pandora does have gravity, though, however weak(er). Exercise and some time in the centrifuge to experience ~1g would go a long way to help maintain decent health. That said, na'vi would be rather light for their size. The size and weight comparison is made even more complicated once we factor in the low-grav.FWIW I recall them flinging humans away in the first movie, but not casually tossing them around like ragdolls.Long limbs and muscles stretched over them are not conducive to great feats of strength, low gravity or not.
>>97353946Well that can simply be explained with the writers being hacks who write shit that has implications they literally don't understand. Big=strong. Even if they're built like fucking twigs and come from a planet with less gravity than earth meaning their musculoskeletal system needs to be and is thus less strong and robust than a human of comparable size would be, thy're bigger so that means they MUST be stronger. This is also evidenced by their bows being able to punch through what's almost certainly bulletproof glass, even though, again, they'd be weaker than an earth bow of comparable size because the wielder is weaker and the natural materials they're using to make them don't need to be as strong, so they probably won't be, and the targets that they're hunting with them are organic and from the same planet where everything needs to be less robust and thus IS generally less robust.

>>97303547I play both extensively despite being their biggest haters but thats just because I want them to be better games.Flames V4 just released late-war point balancing and its made the game so much better because soviets and british used to suck dick and germany had too many cheese spam lists but now the game is relatively balanced and anything you find too cheesy you can easily houserule. Its not historical but it is a fun casual game for balanced forces just duking it out compared to some other historicals which are more historical sim than game.>>97335345Team yankee used to be my go to game but like >>97340160 said the game is basically just a NATO jerk off simulator while PACT players are basically just hordes of mooks for NATO to have fun blowing up It gives NATO fucking prototype vehicles from the late 90s despite being set in 1985 While PACT is stuck choosing what flavor of period accurate shit tank to spam.Generally compared to NATO, PACT units have dogshit stats and are hit on 3 instead of 4 but they make up for this by having 2-4x the numbers and usually better morale but even so NATO units are just so cost effective that even their spam lists of shit NATO units are better than PACTs so PACT can't even really do hordes as good as NATO.Point "balancing" came out for team yankee and it nerfed some PACT spam lists like mass Hinds and gave meager point drops to T-72s and T-80s dropping them by 1 measly point each. Then the balancing massively cut points for NATOs prototype shit by like 30% with the M1A1 going from like 18 points to 12 FYI the M1A1s front armor cannot be penetrated by anything in PACTS entire arsenal outside of aircraft missiles and has the highest armor penetration gun of any tank in game.
>>97353410Are infantry heavy forces in v4 any good? My biggest gripe with flames of war was how it tended towards parking lots

A cheap lamp from IKEA that's easy to move around too.>>97351973Oh anon, I'm not doing the 4th crusade. I've painted up Conrad of Montferrat for the third crusade. Not too keen on the marshal figure but I'll paint them eventually (I have two, my other bannerman is painted holding the flag of Jerusalem).
>>97353474Midwar infantry isnt too great at doing stuff compared to late war infantry since they lack real AT so you'll have to compensate for that with something else like AT guns not that you shouldnt bring lots of support for infantry lists anyway thats why those options are in the infantry formations. In late war Infantry lists were a fucking joke because german AA halftracks that are armored and hit on 4s were literally cheaper than most infantry hit on 3s but the point changes to fix the spam issue has made infantry more viable even though infantry and most gun teams havent gotten point changes for late war yet and I have had a tough time dealing with some lists that spam infantry but I would avoid soviet 4+ save infantry those are still an absolute joke of a unit.
