This is a second OSRG, seperate from the main osrg thread, where you CAN talk about 2e, retroclones, and any osr content you want.
This is different than the regular osrg as due to rampant trolling from a handful of bad actors, discussion is impossible.

Night Below isn't Ravenloft/Dark Sun, but it's a big adventure with huge sandbox sections, including almost immediately from the start. There's 3 books, but a group could play a whole campaign's worth of sandbox adventures just in the first book alone.

If you don't have a lot of faithpoints and they don't regenerate on their own, they can be a great reward for completing the story, if that's the kind of play realy enjoed by players and judje. Fatepoints work even better if the consequences of falling to zero hp range from death to a scar, and with a Fatepoint you not just cancel death, but insteadjust increase the chances of becoming disabled instead of a corpse.
In your case, you could probably make houserule? a simple wound system, that only worked when you spent a faithpoint. Ordinary mortals are guaranteed to die when they fall to zero, but heroes can survive this with a mutilation, gaining the opportunity, if they have too many mutilations, to end their careers by retiring, rather than going straight to the grave.

Previously: https://desuarchive.org/tg/thread/96936967/

When last we met, we made G.E.T.S. (Generally Entertaining Team-built System). Thus far, it seems to be a fairly minimalist system.

Now, we shall make our first setting for this system.

If your proposed idea gets doubles, it is canonized. Any canon characters, worldbuilding, themes, et cetera can be modified (but not outright contradicted or discarded) by triples, quadruples, et cetera.

Let us continue.

When a musician pays in music, that musician immediately forgets how to play that piece and cannot learn how to play that piece again.

>In the game Werewolf: The Apocalypse, the Garou (werewolves) were made to defend the earth from the cosmic forces that threaten to tear it apart. The Garou fight against the Wyrm, the destroyer. It is a struggle against nearly insurmountable odds, especially considering the rivalry between many tribes. These rivalries make it almost impossible for the werewolves to present a unified front against a cosmic force that pervades reality.
>From this morass of hatred and mutual betrayal, there is little hope that the Garou can emerge triumphant against a foe so well armed as the Wyrm. The Wyrm promises money, power, sex, and whatever else the heart desires to its followers while the Garou receive no reward for their striving. It drives them deeper and deeper into despair, or into betrayal so deep that they choose to serve the Wyrm instead.

isnt luke considered one of the most powerful jedi ever in the EU?
>>
>>97248223
its just a mix of kreiafaggotry and headcanon, sheev is more powerful than vitiate and luke is more powerful than any old republic jedi

Not wank, just observation.
Yes, Luke was very powerful in the EU, but he was also an extreme outlier. And I've never seen any proof that Palpatine was stronger than Sion, let along monsters like Vitiate and Nihilus. Sheev never won a thing through strength, it was always manipulation and politics.

And Luke being 'one of the most powerful Jedi' doesnt address the other assertion that the Jedi and Sith lost great amounts of knowledge and technique over the millennia due to wiping each other out over and over again. Just compare Palpatine's Empire and SWTOR's Empire. They were both technological innovators, yes, but the SWTOR Empire was far more advanced in actual Sith magic and techniques because it actually had a core of Sith researchers and academics instead of one Emperor and his lapdog. Hell Luke had to rebuild everything from scratch -by himself- after ROTJ because of this trend.

it's good stuff, and Foundry are the only ones with ex-Citadel production legit because they were founded by Bryan Ansell who got a load of stuff which Citadel wasn't gonna use after he left. Anything else floating about out there is recasts of stuff that made its way out through other methods.

I bought a big pile of the medievals range to make a regiment of foot knights and men at arms for my 6e Bretonnians. The casting quality is good, details are as firm as can be for sculpts from the mid 80s, every part clearly defined and readable unprimed.
>>
>>97242978
In addition to the ex-Citadel stuff, there's a whole bunch of Citadel-adjacent models like Ral Partha Legacy and Prince August's dwindling stock of 1e Warzone models (Heartbreaker was founded by people who ditched GW in the wake of the first big management transfer, were originally making models for GW on contract, and there are a bunch of very Rogue Trader-ish models). Not to mention all those sculptors' own companies.

After about 8 years since I last DM'ed a game, I've been asked to run a session.
Unfortunately my books - adnd, 2e, 3e, 3.5, 4e, and 5e are in storage two states away.
And i prefer physical copies. Thanks to critical role and the movie DND books have gone up in price which is weird.
>4e books are ~10-15$ now.

Is it viable to run 4e in 2025? I don't remember hating it and I still remember some home rules to streamline combat to speed it up a touch.
Does anyone have suggestions for 1-3lvl adventures or campaign settings?

>My current 3rd ed group by contrast has a leader and 3 strikers which will be... interesting in terms of survival.
Depending, it can be very good. I have a lot of 3.x experience.
The problem is early levels, which require more handholding from the DM. I try to not be afraid of handing out potions and gear if it looks like their are struggling.
In my current game, we took on an entire nest (25+) lycanthropes from levels 3 to 6, and it took all our cleverness, as well as some crucial DM handouts, for us to even survive. I accepted becoming a werewolf to give us the punch we needed to win; it's worked out fairly well.
If you are ever in the 3.5 general and see a storytime about the werewolf elf, that's me.

It's really, really not. If you want to manage your money wisely dodging as much of that shit as you can is exactly what you should do. Even owning an eternal wand of Greater Magic Weapon or armor enhancement is still better money wise, since you can apply it to any piece of equipment you want. But having a party member with a spell is even better.

>>
>>97246135
Couple of questions.

1. Could you draw a path to what Brawl/Melee charms you consider essential for Solars on their respective charm trees?
2. I've never really fretted over Legendary Size as a Solar ever, so this is news to me that it is a massive hurdle to overcome. Apart from the narrative rarity of Legendary Size (the average Deeb is sadly not a 15-foot giantess), the decisive damage cap part of it really doesn't matter when one is going all out with Invincible Fury of the Dawn + Fire-And-Stones Strike (or Fivefold Fury Onslaught with Ferocious Jab, or hitting something with all the damage added by Steel Storm Descending, or Trance of Unhesitating Speed + Fiery Arrow Technique + Whispered Prayer of Judgment).
3. I haven't seen someone this mad at mounted combatants having severe advantages over those that didn't since the Jin Dynasty ate shit against the Mongols.

to be fair, using Pathfinder/D&D for your improv storytelling sessions is kind of clever.
>>
>>97153793
you know whats insane? every other member of critical role has been getting massively overpaid for playing d&d for a living, for years. and they still need things explained to them like it is their very first session ever playing. it drives me insane and its why i can never watch them. they want to be drama kids so bad but even still, they have to bog down every single episode with rule explanations, for the most simple roleplaying system ever. THAT THEY GET PAID MILLIONS TO PLAY, FULL TIME, AS A JOB. how does it happen? how? i mean they must legitimately be sub 80 IQ.
>>
>>97228496
