The issue with always doing that is cost. On lerneans that are already expensive and very elite? Not as much of an issue, but sometimes cheaper is better. A thunder hammer is equal to a power maul (or for lerneans, an axe) for killing tacticals, and yet its more expensive. Going all in on thunder hammers will have them be "optimal" for fighting terminators/vets (although dont sleep on claws) but its going to have them be no better at fighting other units.

Any good RPGs for doorkicking combat? Something kinda slick but hyper lethal, letting the PCs take down most mooks pretty quickly but always having the chance to lose it all with poor tactics. I read up through OotP and I strongly disagree. Most (not all) of her worldbuilding doesn't happen by exploration, discovery, action, or reaction. It happens via someone sitting Harry down and expositing a bunch of pointless shit at him for 30 pages. "Sit down Harry, let me tell you about how I was in a wizard prison called Azkaban for 30 pages. Then after a very brief unexciting action sequence I'll also loredump my gay furry pal's entire life story to you!" That gets boring or annoying very quickly.

GURPS, of course, can run this game very well (it's on my list of games to maybe run one day). Frankly, you could run the whole thing with just the basic set and it would great. You'd almost certainly want to add in Martial Arts, though, as has a bunch of extra combat options and a system for fighting styles that can really enhance a wuxia game. If, for whatever reason, you felt like you didn't have proper gear between those two books, you could throw in Low-Tech, too. And for Magic, again, the Basic Set really has you covered, but the game would probably benefit from using Thaumatology: Chinese Elemental Powers.
That would cover pretty much everything you need to run a Jade Empire game.

Battle Century and Mekton are the most "toolkit" systems, meant to be customized. If those don't fit your needs, you may be able to refluff and modify another game that has mechanics closer to what you need.

We're going to have to come up with a phrase for the new era of Warhammer 40,000 ushered in by the Amazon TV show, DoW 4 and Total War 40k, and increased market value of Games Workshop.

nu40k isn't going to cover it. nu40k is already bad enough for many of us from headier days like 1st through 4th edition. You are going to see horrific debasements to the thing you know and love that you will still see with your eyes closed. Every 80 IQ person with internet access will have an opinion on Warhammer without knowing what a Tau Remora Drone is.

We have all experienced the coming and going so GMs, Players and games; and then left holding the bag too start all over again at Square One.
If and when you have to start over from scratch how and where (online) would you start I'll look for groups and games?

Despite my many efforts to explain and streamline things, they still think everything is way too complicated.
They think there are too many skills, and that default penalties are too harsh. So I've introduced wildcard skills and taught them to use rules like Time Spent to offset default penalties. But they still don't like it.
They think hit locations are too hard to hit, range penalties are too harsh, and that too many actions take too long in combat. I try to explain how you can offset penalties or do things faster by using combat options like Aim, Evaluate, All-Out Attack, Telegraphic Attack, and Extra Effort, or bump up skill or buy special advantages or techniques to make things easier. Their enemies are also subject to all the same rules, so knowing how to use these options should give them a huge leg up over their foes. But they think all these rules are unnecessary. "I've shot a gun before, [GM]. Anyone should be able to quick-draw a pistol and make a snap shot at a target's neck at 10 meters with 95% accuracy. These rules are stupid." I'm a noguns, so they don't take me seriously when I cite real-life firearm statistics.
Generally, they think too many things give penalties, and don't like adding up penalties. I try to explain that these things which give penalties would just simply be impossible in other systems, and by leveraging modifiers they can make the impossible possible. They say "That's fine. Just don't let me do them then." Which baffles me, because when I was running D&D way back in the day, they were always complaining how they couldn't do anything.
One player also dropped out of the game early while complaining that there was "too much combat." But he said he's also going to be joining my other player's DH2E/Sector-X game even though that game is going to have even more combat. So that also befuddled me. Although, it could've just been scheduling issues that he had to drop out, and the comment was incidental. He didn't say.

If they say no and want to stick to newfag 10e slop let them go, just at the very least ask.
