Is it possible?I like scifi as a genre because all the new tech that show us, but in terms of aesthetics, always looks like shit.Do you know any scifi RPG with good aesthetics? Long live the New Flesh!
It is probably not too controversial to say that the art of modern rulebooks is made with female representation in mind. These women are predominantly filling important roles, such as archmages, military officers, or nobles. But how come there is barely any art that shows them in peril, or at a clear disadvantage? Regardless of their status. There is no shortage of men in peril.Neither in classic nor in modern art.
>>97362635>the difference between "feeling that you ought to be given X" and "taking X" is semantics

>>97367562>>97367572The setting uses this concept of animacy to blend the concepts of mind and matter.Just like a wave is not just the particles of water that happen to make it up at any particular point in time, but a persisting distinct entity, a nature spirit is more than the particular plant life it presides over. But at the same time, it's not a ghost that pops and exists seperately from those plants. It's like a presence within them. Can you tame water by killing a wave? I suppose you can, but you'd be removing the animating energy that you might have been interested in in the first place. Can you gain more water by stealing a wave? You'd just be stealing the water directly. In this analogy that'd mean uprooting all the plants and carrying them to your own territory.

>>97367537>>97367541The best way to utilize Insomnia would be to take a Short Rest before taking a Long Rest, burn all your Hit Dice, and use as many spell slots or other healing features that recharge on a Long Rest to heal yourself to full or close to full. Then take your Long Rest, giving you back all your Slots and Hit Dice. In the worst case scenario, where you have no hit dice or spell slots before the long rest is completed, you simply complete the Long Rest, then take a Short Rest in the morning to expend and use hit dice. In that case, you'll have half-ish your remaining hit dice for the day- so it's not costless. Option B could be used if you're playing a PC who doesn't have any class features specifically that don't recharge on a Long Rest.Beastbane can be countered by not interacting with Beasts or having a good Animal Handling or Persuasion score. 7th Level Rogues get Reliable Talent and stop caring about this at that point. In both cases, I'd say that's worth the cost for: Lucky, Magic Initiate, Tough, Musician, or Alert.

Are there any tabletop RPGs similar in style to the classic video game Baroque?
>>97364932... and yet it's still low quality spam thread
>>97364932>>97365668
>>97367138It's funny how sane that video makes it seem. The information in the game is delivered in a completely (and essentially random) different order, and you have to piece it together while eliminating the various lies. He is also only delivering one interpretation of one version of the game, built on information that's not in the game itself and its debatable how canon it is (especially since some of the information is contradicted in other versions and related media). He probably would have had to make a five hour long video if he really wanted a comprehensive examination of the basic "plot" and all its potential interpretations.I'm actually more familiar with the remake, which adds a lot of information in the game itself while making getting that information an incredibly convoluted process (that ultimately only delivers garbled bits of text that can never be fully trusted), and also adds a new ending, more floors/events, and rewrites certain characters. I think it's fair to say that Baroque is purposefully vague and ultimately inconsistent thanks to multiple people with shifting ideas over the nearly thirty years since the game began.I wish the video went a bit more into the more unique items/monsters/dungeon features. A lot of the game feels fairly basic and repetitive, but then it occasionally throws something at you that can completely rewrite how the game works. My favorite example of this is the Vampire Sword, an incredibly rare weapon that many people never even see in their playthroughs, which completely reworks how you can progress in power while only having a vague description of what it actually does.
After reading all this, I doubt you can actually do something like that on the tabletop, unless your group is up for it. I guess most groups would soon get bored out of dying to the same hard dungeon on repeat.
>>97367719Isn't the remake generally considered to be worse than the Saturn? I know it has a censored script (even in the Japanese version, it's not a localization thing).

>>97367649That doesn't happen in actual systems.

>>97367702It's weird how they're not bad, when it comes to technical quality, but they're so immensely uninteresting that they're repulsive.Or maybe it's because repetition breeds contempt. Probably both.
>>97367746I actually really like this one.Yeah sure, maybe a bit bland, but there is nothing wrong with an honest, classic design like that.
>>97367746Indeed there is technically nothing wrong with them. It's just that the colors, the tone, facial features, atmosphere, everything that could've made the artworks shine didn't. It's like buying a lamborghini and then having it parked in your garage for the rest of it's existence. It's like buying lego then gluing the set together and putting it behind a glass panel. It's like arranging an orchestra and then telling them to rap.

>>97364831How would "target player" instead of "target opponent" behave significantly different in these game modes except opening up options in the context I mentioned? "Each player" and "each opponent" are completely different cases. Again, I never argued all cards should be worded more openly every time. Also I was talking about nonsense restrictions in general. "Target creature YOU CONTROL gets +1/+1" - why? Why one I control? It's an effect that by design is something that will already be used the intended way in 1v1. Wouldn't a more open effect also make team games more interesting? Another thing is that magic does have tons of cards that are actually worded that way. I just don't get the ones that are not
>>97365637sealed is a little more chill but also more luck based since you see less cardslimited in general you can just get fucked over by unlucky opens (and draws of course)draft is really good value if you want the cards in the set you are drafting, and okay value otherwise if you maintain a good winrate
Gotta admit I liked the Avatar set. It helps that I never saw the show and don't know anything about it so it being UB had less of an effect. But the mechanics are fun, art is good and I always liked monks in magic. Only a few busted cards imo. Fun limited. The only thing I know from the show, elemental mastery, seemed implemented well. Surprised there wasn't a black bending mechanic, like gravebending or some shit
