>a grown man roleplaying a female character
My friend has played one (1) male character out of over 50 I remember. All the rest have been female characters with vaguely similar looks (might just be his artstyle) but also very diverse things from monsters to mundane humans. He doesn't roleplay them with voices or anything, nor has he (except once) had his female characters do anything sexual. IRL he is asexual, aromantic, etc. I don't know if I should expect him to come out as trans in a few years. Tbh it's not even really my business but it does make me wonder. I can understand playing a female character once in a while, for me it's a big no-no as a PC, as an NPC certainly, and I do admit enjoying it. It is nice, on 2 steps of removal (both "it isn't me" and "it isn't even supposed to be a proxy of me") to play a female character. It's nice to include cute girls in your setting, as well as just normal women who would be part of the setting and any DM would include. When I used to DM for my dad it was intensely awkward to include ANY female NPCs and I only did so once. Now that I am older, in my early 30s instead of mid teens, that awkwardness is gone. But I still will not play a female PC, nor do I really feel any desire to.

First time posting on here, so excuse the clumsy nature of this thread.I've been pretty unsatisfied with how bare bones and downright vacant the Elemental Planes are in traditional Dungeons and Dragons. So I started writing my own additions, which has slowly ballooned out into a much bigger project. Adding not only new locations, but also biomes, creatures, cultures, and ways of life. In short, aside from showing off what I have so far, I need help. I've pretty much exhausted my pool of knowledge and inspiration and I'm far from done. So I'm throwing my net into this ocean hoping to get new perspectives and ideas that I wouldn't have on my own. I don't just want to make something up just for the hell of it, I want to make something that feels cohesive and plausible given the fantastical elements. Math, Science, History, Obscure Mechanics, One Off Ideas - I want it all.If any of this sounds interesting, please take a look. Over 40k works split over the Planes of Fire, Air, and Water.https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1HqK-6In4kTF6I0n2vgdNhe6YlUiezjFKpkFyNQWaFYw/edit?usp=sharing You can contact me on Discord: loregenesis
>>96449206>>96454342>>96440890Yeah, not really sure what this is all about but bot or autist, I don’t really care.As long as the questions are interesting, I’ll see about answering them. But yeah, holidays… kinda more of a cultural question. They’re pretty disconnected to the environment itself and wholly dependent on the history and culture of the people.Technically Sundowning (a cyclical natural disaster described in the google sheets) would be a sort of holiday. A very morbid one but there would probably also be a celebration afterwards for surviving another cycle. And in the plane of water proper (Tír Fo Thuinn) the Anáil na Mara would definitely count as a week long celebration event. So really, it just depends on the people. But those are my examples, probably more that I’m forgetting at the moment that are in the google sheets.Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>96455066>>96454872This is pretty good for play, but just for inspiration you kinda just need to look around. Ironically starting this process has opened my eyes to looking for stuff like that. Gotta think outside the box sometimes.I’ve got some stuff on my computer, I’ll post on here later.
>>96455003> just have the plane of fire be the “sun” either 24/7 light or if you still want night make it so that the plane of smoke becomes too thick for hours at a time.I cannot believe I didn't think of that.
>>96455066Finally home, here are a couple.Different environments that aren't always fantastical, but do just enough to get the juices flowing.

How dystopian is your setting?
>>96444065Not too bad. There's lots of monsters and demons in the wilderness, but they're repelled by the human psyche so they stay away from populated areas. It's an industrial setting, so technology is good. Society is secretly controlled by magocratic fascists who conduct a lot of political assassinations and mind control, but they take their Illuminati business somewhat seriously and actually try and make sure it's generally for the greater good. Generally.Violent oppression only happens against magic users who aren't sanctioned by the magocratic fascists, and there hasn't been a major war in like 20 years because most of the conflict is between mages and other mages, and monster hunters and monsters. Normal people are actually vibing out without giving a shit about all the retarded shadow wars happening in the woods outside town.
>>96444065My setting is pretty wholesome overall, there are some Byzantine intrigues and the usual deals with the Devil for power, and the usual wars for resources...but ultimately it takes place in a Dark Ages with greater availability of hot baths, competent herbalists, the occasional bit of difficult to explain archeotech perceived as magic items.Even my orc analogues aren't good or evil, just cattle rustling steppe types with rude heads who kidnap their wives.>>96445063All my elves exist here and "there" at the same time so have innate magical properties but are ill perceived as their head is literally in the clouds. Existing in another dimension in part, making them seem fickle, lost, spiteful. Increased human admixture is bringing them more into this world. I don't have any dwarves. Just arsehole techgnomes
>>96461532>Late Roman "outpost system" of protected trade routes built on earlier empires, most nations intermingled >Elven demi humans that exist in an extra dimension>Evil technological Gnomes who are mostly unseen>Cattle rustling Steppe Goblins and secretly intelligent Troll Rangers >world has second and third moons which are habitable but harsh, a Barsoom-moon of deserty bronze ageness with radium muskets and a moon of granite plinths where Dragons live
Taking OP pic an example, the difference between cozy and dystopian is if the world magically smells fresh and clean or if it smells like shit as would be the case IRL.
>>96444065The one for my Modern Fantasy system isn't. It's more utopian than anything else. The main antagonistic force is the environment in the modern day, and it's not so much evil as it is just nature doing its thing. Of course, there are evil people who choose to be evil - but heroism and good are baked into society from thousands of years of Adventuring being pushed as an ideal, a profession for those who seek to help others and seek adventure.

>>96461863Did they overcharge the fixed rate of the HPG pulse or all the fees and secondary services? Did they ask for 2 c-bills for a short message one station out?
>>96461872I don't know the details, just that they did it.
fire falcon!
>>96461878Well, the C-bill is fixed to the standard price for a standard transmission, any other services don't have permanently fixed prices and nobody would really notice if their prices were off since they're "market price" in the first place. If the standard transmission cost went up, that's something people would notice, because that would directly inflate the C-bill. Maybe if they were using dark banking wizardry to take .001 C-cent off the top without it actually showing up on accounts or something, but that's not going to fund much even if you're getting thousands of transactions a day. Much easier to just change the price of the lattes on the lobby cafe sign and assign new transaction fees where company policy doesn't include them.
Rokugan is saved /tg/.
Just got the Children of the Five Winds. Pretty okay, better than the shit in Writ of the Wilds.Super Natural Encounters are pretty good addition, and does represent the inhuman aspect of these beings when you fuck up etiquette on them. Meishido is also pretty good.Kinda sucks that they're still focusing on Non-Rokugani schools, and they're still kinda unimaginative. I can't really see their uniqueness or flavour unlike the earlier schools in Path of Waves.Plus side I really like the elemental gimmick for Kitsune Naturalist. It kinda sucks for a master ability, but I do like how you have to rotate your stances to represent seasons changing. One more book left and hopefully we have enough fa/tg/uys working on it to reverse engineer the system.

>>96457151>You'd still need to answer the question of whether or not the BFF-1 containers are detachable from the drive section. It seems like they should be, but I think X-Wing implied otherwise.X-wing didn't say anything about it, but the ship is seen with four Type A containers every time it appears. i'd say there is an airlock to climb into the containers for exactly the reasons you mention.>I was always unclear about whether the BFF-1 was a properly engineered ship or something a second-tier manufacturer built from recycled parts that ended up being a big success despite that.I decided that this freighter was more like the IRL 'class' of Panamax ships. Built by various shipyards across the galaxy, with varioous reactors, engines, etc., but to a standardized set oof docking ports and dimennsions. If you get one of those, you will be able to carry 4 containers around, fit into berths of a known size etc.But you may have wildy different types of reactors, thrusters, navcomps, cockpit layout, etc.I came up with this because my group wanted to fly in on something inconspicuous to blend in, but ended up on the 'oh no the city is full lof riots and fire' end of the inconspicuously blending in spectrum on the way out.So they ran up the ramp of 'their' freighter, only to find out that the HowalWorks ship they had flown in on was very different from the Dawon Heavy Industries one they were to leave with.
Is there any mechanical difference between Edge of the Empire and Age of Rebellion?
>>96461774not particularly. there's the Duty/Obligation mechanic, and some equipment has slightly different rarities and costs depending on if you're running strictly only material from one set to the other, but races, classes, and talents are all cross compatible

So I'm making my setting for my Beyond the Wall game, and I'm just curious what do you guys use for inspiration. Myself, lots of Conan, Tolkien (not dunedain, rohirim, the orcs) Dominion 6 (my principal inspiration at the moment), lots of real world folklore, tales and stuff (like the Narts, Spanish folklore, Tibetan bon) and this or that stuff of different books (I love tribal stuff and making tribes inspired in different stuff, like I have a tribe of skinners than wear the pels of the Tribe of the wolf, wich are locked in cosntant war in the not-siberia). But what about you guys, what are you using? Anyone has a good recomendation for tribal stuff, or resources to make a city-state/tribe/village adventures?
