>>97369940i mean draft while your limited rank is bronze or silver is pretty much free moneypeople will run dogshit cards and miss lethal every other game
>>97369983just knowing every common and uncommon in a set is a pretty big ordeal, you don't have enough time to read every card in a pack and think how good they are and if they fit in the cards you have already drafted
>>97363536the whole point of putting "an opponent controls" on a card is to make the card worsefor example instant speed self bounce for 1 mana is very efficient and versatile protection and stapling that effect onto a card like picrel would just be too much
>>97370089If that's your concern, just use a tracker or some overlay to rate cards. But also you don't need to do that, as long as you know the set mechanics you'll be able to estimate the strength of most commons and uncommons. A lot of cards across sets follow similar archetypes. A frequent example is the 4 mana green 4/4 with upside. We get one basically every set, and while the strength varies they're rarely awful. The ones that are bad are fairly obvious, like cautious survivor which is practically vanilla. You don't need to pick up a perfectly crafted deck to win games, especially at the start when nobody else is either. Just take the generically good cards and 9/10 sets you'll do fine. Once you get some experience with the set you can start worrying more about synergy.
>>97370206just reading through the 15 cards in a pack takes almost all the time you are allotted, your options are to use a program that drafts for you or learning the set if you want to play human drafts and win

Daily reminder the anti-GW raid discord is hard at work trying to make people hate 40k. They're now trying to convince people that the 40k or HH lore isn't good, thematic, or deep. They'll conveniently ignore the fact that 40k isn't popular for its gameplay, it's popular for its lore and setting. GW has literally dominated table top gaming and is a household name of nerd culture PURELY because of its lore and stories. But ok. Sure. Let's pretend it's bad because discord raiders said so. Uh huh. This is the same group of twats that spam the anti-tournament terrain threads as well

He definitely was out of Europe by sometime in the early 1800s, and claimed to have left even earlier. Not sure he ever went back to the Old World for any reason, or bothered with social outings you'd possibly attend in the New; not impossible, but also not likely. From what I've seen of him - namely, his later years - he was a recluse. Left the caern rarely, mostly used me and the others as couriers and hands. You know that type of elder, probably.Tall man, thirty-something, on the leaner side in frame, deeply unpleasant as a person. Did all sorts of tricks for his appearance, changed his face and his name, but the broad things were persistent. Loved his little charms and shit, round glasses, and in personality he was utterly inhuman, with general lack of usual bodily wants like sex or snacks or comfort. Neurotic, strict and controlling. This sort of a somewhat insectoid individual, all in all. Very, very focused type, obsessive, to a degree, but he'd definitely hide it outside of his domain. Very, very dead nowadays, this isn't a 'seen him lately' kind of question. If you did in fact knew him privately, tidbits of any sort about him would be convenient, and feel free to publicize them here, even, I don't care whatsoever about his good name. Information on what the old fuck got up to before he got eaten by werewolves would be a great way to pay me and my coterie for our services and merchandise, greater than regular cash, favors or occult toys.>>97367419See, this is why nobody wants to live with you fucking people in your horrid smoke-filled beach hell of a city. Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to first-decade, Gygaxian D&D, its faithful modern clones, and content created for use with them. Later editions (2e and newer) should be discussed elsewhere. Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons played as intended by its creators from 1974 to 1983 — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching metaplots and a greater emphasis on player agency. If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about: we'll be happy to help you get started. Tabletop RPGs tend to split up crafting into a high number of crafting subskills for every individual area of expertise. There's no question that crafting is still extremely powerful despite forcing you to go through this hassle, but what are your thoughts on which particular crafting subskills tend to be the most useful in the context of a TTRPG campaign, be it a medieval or modern or sci-fi setting?Pic related is from Legend of the Five Rings, where I'll be playing a crafter soon, and I intend to invest heavily into crafting. >>97370075Both have value, depends on your set up.If the grind is the only unit that will fight, 6 wide. Since that has 1 buffer, then 6 buffer on next RB instead of 3 buffer, 5 buffer on next RB for the 5 wide. The bigger benefit for the 5 wide though is it gives you more room for flank attacks against what your grinding out since your frontage is smaller.
>>97370122I fucked up that explanation. The 6 wide is 12 attackers on defense but 7 buffer. Compared to 10 attackers 8 buffer. If you're tanking more attack, but if your ablative then more buffer
>>97370122Ok, so 5 is the most versatile, 6 is if you hope to win the attrition war. Against Dwarfs, I tried two rank of 6 and I swear to god all my units got deflected. Like trying to break brick walls. However my new infantry should outnumber them so hopefully i can hold better.
>>97370009eh, im really only interested in the archers anyways
>>97370166Yeah.There are some other considerations at the margins. For example if the unit is 26 or more models, you need to be 6 wide, 37 or more models 7 wide. You'd be in March formation again due to shape otherwise. Also which units your using. Gors should essentially always be 7 wide (other than pure maneuverability) because they have no armor (5+ with shield is the same as no save, don't kid yourself). Otherwise yes, you got it right
So I bought this as I really like Conan 2d20 System and I was surprised that system appears to be very rules lite compared to Conan 2d20 or WHFR 4E and a lot of rules and stuff appears to be on GM to flesh out. Usually i pay for RPG books because i don't want to figure out how much damage or to hit modifier some fancy sword has but in Dune core rulebook, its precisely that, book demands that i figure it out instead of giving me stat blocks. may be its just I'm retarded, or this system is lazy slop cashing in on movie craze?

So my DND group was kind of disolving, 2 out of the 4 players left because of life issues (one got a job abroad and the other one is dealing with life), to keep playing we incorporated 2 new players with not so much experience but avid watchers of Critical Role. One of these player conditions was that we incorporate x cards to the game, she says that it makes it much more comfortable for her to know she can avoid unpleasant story elements having this tool. I started to read a bit about it online and is this something you guys have used? In my 20 years playing I've never used this.

If you don't have any weird interests no one thinks it's weird that you ignore body language, hit on a woman who obviously isn't interested, or rant to someone about a sports game they didn't watch. I know /tg/ had a pretty active Space Station 13 community way back in the days of yore, and now that the open-source modernized Space Station 14 is coming along nicely i was wondering if there is a SS14 /tg/ community kicking around. It would be fun to get stuck in with the old robust grey tide crowd again. Otherwise, general Space station 13/14 thread i guess.
>>97368263SS14 has a steam launcher so that works on linux at least.
Rare and blessed ss13 thread.ss14 is gay and lame for variety of reasons. The most obvious one is that they don't have tile-based movement, so they can fuck right off. /vg/station fork tried to implemented it, and it kinda worked, but it was gay and lame (like ss14 code itself).I don't care about it.Now. /vg/station13 is the only real ss13 server left, really. Real, as in with old-school code and full of oldfags still playing. It is the one I am playing right now, the only one.Ignore the bullshit in the generals on /vg/ or /vm/ or whatever the fuck. They've been taken over by shitposting schizos. It's not the biggest one, population-wise, but we get 20+ players every night. Now, the problem is that it's US evening/night time. European hours are dead as fuck. Which sucks. If you want to try and fix it, I would be happy to hop on with you./tg/, the board, had its own server at one point. It was the d20station. When I made a ss13 thread here last year, a guy who was involved with the project said he wants to resurrect d20 and host something. Unfortunately the thread I made got buried pretty quickly and nothing came out of it.I would happily play some games on d20.2, especially if it was more European timezone oriented server. But yeah. I started playing this stupid game in 2012. On /vg/station13. Then moved to /tg/station13 and played extensively there. Until the things I disliked reached the breaking point for me.Now I'm back on /vg/station and I'm not going anywhere. Join. Play. If you want the OG ss13 experience. You can RP on it as well, just don't treat it as Baystation roleplaying, where you write paragraphs of emotes. You can play a character, there are many of those around.See you in space, anon.

>>97349349What are you talking about? You don't need to deal damage to end an encounter. If you're fighting a single shambling mound or whatever, and you cast force cage on it, you win. You can just leave. You don't have to kill things and there's very little incentive to do so. Most of the decently high value density treasure isn't found on monsters, and random magic items are just vendor trash, so it doesn't matter if you miss a few. Everything you use will be crafted from gold you get from selling ultra-valuable gems and other similar items.
>>97367102This is why most higher level creatures have some manner of dimensional travel.Even still, saying that the optimal way to play the game is to render obsolete large parts of it's core system and assumption doesn't reflect well on the game in play.
>>97367553You're not rendering it obsolete. Defeating a monster with a sword doesn't make magic obsolete, and defeating a monster with magic doesn't make swords obsolete. They're just different ways of interacting with the world. There is no correct way to approach any challenge.
