There seems to be two types of wizards:
>Slovenly eccentric geniuses
>Strict organized perfectionists
I think this is because you have to be highly intelligent to become a wizard.

Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to first-decade, Gygaxian D&D, its faithful modern clones, and content created for use with them. Later editions (2e and newer) should be discussed elsewhere.

Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons played as intended by its creators from 1974 to 1983 — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching metaplots and a greater emphasis on player agency.

If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about: we'll be happy to help you get started. We also have two excellent beginner guides created by Anons with feedback from the thread that you can check for help:

Very excellent choice! Not the easiest to run: the maps are a bit hard to read, the random encounter system is a bit nonstandard, some of the factions are more implicit than spelled out, so the DM needs to familiarise himself with it a fair bit. But if you're ready (or good at improvising) I'm sure it'll be great.

The main tip IMO is that there isn't nearly enough gold treasure in Thracia. Don't hesitate to add a lot more, Anon! Off the top of my head, even x4 or x5 treasure hoard values aren't unreasonable in this case, I think.

Lol no, telling people that instead of asking the most basic and pointless of questions, that they should try looking into the matter for themselves and come up with a couple modules that they are interested in and then describe what they like about them and then ask for people's opinions.

I'm sick and tired of people who have absolutely zero experience with this thread coming in and begging to be spoon-fed

>What is /awg/?
A thread to talk about minis and games which fall between the cracks, or peoples' homebrew wargames.
The >>>/tg/hwg thread doesn't entertain fantasy (for good reason) and the other threads are locked to more specific games.
This thread isn't tied to a game, a publisher, or a genre, let's just talk about fun wargames. Any scale, any company, any miniatures.

>Examples of games that qualify.
A Song of Ice and Fire, Argatoria, Batman Miniature Game, Carnevale, Conquest: The Last Argument of Kings,
Deadzone, Dragon Rampant, Dropfleet and Dropzone Commander, Freebooter's Fate, Frostgrave, Gaslands, HeroClix,
Kings of War, Maelstrom's Edge, Malifaux, Marvel Crisis Protocol, Masters of the Universe: Battleground, Moonstone,
Oathmark, OnePageRules, Open Combat, RelicBlade, Rumbleslam, SAGA, StarCraft, Stargrave, Sludge, Urban War, Void,
Warcaster, Warmachine, Xenos Rampant, Xenotactics...

You have a remarkable talent for reading words that were not said or inferred. I'll ask because I love hearing what retards have to say about stuff like this: do you think when we're born our brains and personality are randomly decided by the metaphysical nature of the soul and all things from there are predetermined? Do you not things like inherited brain chemical balance and environmental circumstance affect and change those things over time? I mean for someone like I guess it was because you were clearly born with an extra chromosome

Also, if it wasn't readily apparent from the fact that DIFO's chart lists 12 others; the number of viable Rogue-tier decks was *substantially* larger than it is now. A lot of untiered decks work against meta in the current state of the game, but very few of them are able to keep up at tournaments. Meanwhile, shit like Virtual World, Mekk-Knights, and freaking Eldlich were still able to swing in DIFO.

I was so very pleased and surprised with Siege of Cthonia. "Yes. They've still got it". And they still do, they just have to remember what they already did and keep developing it.
But to be honest, I'm not sure this Tactical Journal thing lends itself to it....though some Exemplary Battles were basically that, and that series wasn't half bad.

>an already borken ass faction is going to get more broken shit
I haven't played against 3.0 Custards yet but are they? Their stats are great but it seems pretty easy to feed them crap while farming VP from Line units, army-wide Vanguard sounds quite detrimental against many lists in the context of progressive scoring.

I'd argue that their 3.0 rules are much more soulful and the army's internal balance is nowhere near as bad as what it was in 2.0, which is an improvement. Custodian Guard spam was abysmally unfun to play against.

>I haven't played against 3.0 Custards yet but are they?
Yes, they are just as, if not more broken then 2.0. The problem is their stats will rip appart anything thats not on par with them, which since you dont have an army of preators, your not gonna stand a chance against them.

The big thing with custodes that makes them insane is their init stat being I5, being able to swing with WS5 before anything else gets to swing is BRUTAL.

Gundam if it's just models. If it's a game, then all the historical ones put together, but none individually. The nature of historicals will be disparate due to having different time periods rather than single game, but usually one system in each time period and scale dominates (sometimes due to being the only one that exists)
