>>97255331>Where are the hexmaps bro? Where are the dungeoncrawls? They were inside you all along.
>>97253053Didn't Ernie jr publish something along those lines?
>>97258956I read them. None of this soft, low engagement click play and attention drifts off business. I actually had to actively engage with the books look at the words, turn pages, even remember where I was up to since bookmarks are for sissies. They are bad. They are Troy Denning fiction which should tell you enough already. Writing games he is good at, writing fiction is not his strength. Most of the characters are barely likeable, thankfully Rikus is one of the tolerable ones. He splits the party only not in a good Tolkien way, not even in a not too bad Dragonlance first trilogy way. The good thing about that is it gets rid of the other characters for a while, the bad thing is it gets rid of the tolerable ones for a while. They're just not believable as people. The action is all over the place. It jumps around with terrible pacing. Long periods of nothing then Denning remembers he's supposed to be advancing the plot and it's rushed. Challenges are pulled out of nowhere as hard as Palpatine was pulled out of the grave to replace Snoke. The wizard woman turns into a Mary Sue even compared to the other characters. In a story already story full of Mary Sues this is something spectacular. Characters have the implausible ability to travel at the speed of plot rather than by believable means. When they're not on stage things just develop conveniently. The wizard woman's powers just develop. There's no sense of threat after the first novel, and not much in that one.Of course, they take on the worst bad guys around, how else can they do anything else in a fantasy novel, but in doing so they make a mockery of the the Dragon, a unique monster who's supposed to the baddest bad guy around, so bad that he was created solely to be badder than and to keep in check the next baddest bad guy.>>97257781They are bad. You can ignore them and you can ignore every reference to the metaplot even if it might be a little convenient to have Tyr free from a sorceror king.
>>97262923>Of course, they take on the worst bad guys around, how else can they do anything else in a fantasy novel, but in doing so they make a mockery of the the Dragon, a unique monster who's supposed to the baddest bad guy around, so bad that he was created solely to be badder than and to keep in check the next baddest bad guy.Somebody has to be the jobber.
>>97262923>They are badonly read the first one when I was a kidnothing spectacular and it's pretty bad if compared to proper literaturebut it's still above the median quality in /tg/ inspired fantasy overall, I don't think it counts as an accomplishment thoughbut if anyone can tolerate such schlak at all they will be fine with DS novels as well
I would like to talk about the Chronicles of Darkness game line Deviant: The Renegades, or more specifically, one major upcoming supplement. Deviant was released in late 2021, and has had three additional sourcebooks since then. A new supplement, Black Vans, has been in playtesting for a while, and is currently being previewed.I am not being paid or sponsored to promote this book in any way. I am just very fascinated by it, and indeed, I already ran a mini-campaign using the playtest material.Deviant is, by default, a game about playing angsty, scarred superheroes who either fight world-manipulating conspiracies or work for them. Black Vans is a toolkit full of variant rules, quick NPC creation, variant character types, and variant genres. These variants range from the minor to the dramatic, completely overhauling what were once non-negotiable, foundational themes and mechanics. Maybe your character is not angsty or scarred at all, perhaps they are a """""regular human""""" like John Wick or Batman, or the campaign might have nothing to do with world-manipulating conspiracies. These variant genres include cyberpunk, high fantasy, post-apocalypse, space opera, and superhero emergence. This is a beefy supplement. For example, one chapter alone dedicates 38,000+ words to playing other monsters of the Chronicles of Darkness: Beasts, changelings, demons, Sin-Eaters, hunters (entirely separate from the variant rules for """natural""" superpowers), mages, mummies, Prometheans, vampires, and werewolves. No additional supplements beyond Deviant are necessary; the rules are self-contained, allowing the group to play a monster mash of an urban fantasy setting without needing a daunting 7+ books. And yes, they are supposed to be balanced against one another, so a vampire in the same group as a full-fledged mage is probably some older Kindred.(Continued.)
Is it possible to 'deconstruct' a different splat with Deviant? Basically making a dude that has all the powers and weaknesses of a vampire, but it's not a vampire? Like, a lab-made recreation of what a vampire should be like
>>97217920> A new supplement, Black Vans, has been in playtesting for a while, and is currently being previewed.I thought paradox had pulled the plug on CofD from onyx path in '24
>>97261986The author took it to the Storyteller’s Vault as “fan material”. The digital store.
>>97260395You are welcome.>>97260797Yes, it is very much possible to make a fake vampire, a fake werewolf (down to the spirit manipulation), and so on using the core rulebook alone. A fake changeling, even, given Shallow Graves and powers like Fate-Bind and Opener of Ways.It is also possible to use the Black Vans' 38,000+ word chapter on playing Beasts, changelings, demons, Sin-Eaters, hunters (entirely separate from the variant rules for """natural""" superpowers), mages, mummies, Prometheans, vampires, and werewolves using Deviant's own rules.
>>97262563Alright I'm def getting this shit then. The other Deviant supplements were pretty damn crummy so I was hesitant
Who was in the right?
>>97225715There are other projects and techs that expand on what happens to Santiago.Basically she uses Neural Grafting and the Mind Machine Interface to create Homo Superior, cybernetic humanoids who go on to adopt an Ideology based on Nietzsches will to power, as per the techs. (Zhakarov also embraces this ideology, at the same time Yang uses the grafting to develop bioengineering and dissapears into his tunnels). To maintain control and provide psychic shielding to her army of supermen she creates the Neural Amplifier (Secret Project), goes full big brother thought control (the society choice unlocked by wtp) and takes up residence in Assassins Redoubt. These developments destabilise the U.N council and Santiago in particular seems poised to take over planet. In response, Deidre, who's been mostly just peacefully getting along with planet and encouraging people to become psychic through it develops the dreamtwister (secret project) and uses it against Assassins Redoubt, brainwiping Santiago and everyone connected to the Neural Amplifier. The Gaians absorb the remanants of the spartan population and creates a Eudamonic Society (as per Eudamonia, which leads on from WTP) powered by Sentient machines (from the other prerequisites). As for the others, Miriam is pretty much bang on, though it's implied she's heavily involved with tech and Zhakarov up till her death. Morgan almost wins by his definition only for it to become obsolete as the ascent to Transcendence causes everyone to become aesetics. Lal gives up during the events described above and mostly focuses on saving his wife iirc and mediating between the remaining powerblocks and as you say, Zhakarov and Deidre put their differences aside to transcend.

>>97263909>>97263729The slimmer one isn't from Clan War, he's one of the early miniatures for L5R (the card game/RPG side). See: https://www.nobleknight.com/P/2147421592/Hida-SukuneActual Clan War minis were closer to 30mm scale (like Zenit's stuff), but very robust. They only had two poses on the rank-and-file guys. Otherwise quite good models. If you keep a sharp eye out on auction sites you can still find minis quite cheaply, they were in active production from a guy who bought up the molds until just a few years ago. Shadowlands stuff is the real bitch, Zenit and - bizzarely - Ral Partha Europe are the only people with any undead samurai and bakemono/nezumi are basically impossible to find. Naga only got about half their releases before Clan War went under, as well. Reaper did some promotional stuff with the license in the late 1990s. I have a couple of them, you could get a promotional Emperor Toturi and pet bird for subscribing to Inquest, and a few things like one of the Geisha are still in the Reaper catalog to this day. They did some more recent runs of models for the RPG and Lootcrate that are... less cheap. Those guys have a white blister and L5R branding. ...Also, while I was researching who wound up with the rights to Valiant Miniatures' stuff, I discovered a company called "5th Field" who seem to be archiving a whole shitload of old moulds. Including a Kobold whore. I'm genuinely shocked it's from Jason Weibe instead of Klocke or Kev White

What is the correct way to handle female priestess? Historically women weren't part of the clergy, so you don't have a lot of references to drawn from in regards to their attitude.

Stop getting upset over chess games. It spikes your cortisol.Gemini explains:>Spiked cortisol, often called "cortisol face," causes physical changes like a rounder, puffier face (moon face), weight gain in the abdomen, and a buffalo hump (fat pad behind the neck) due to fluid retention and fat redistribution, plus skin issues like acne, thinning skin, stretch marks, slower healing, and premature aging, all from excess stress hormone affecting metabolism and skin health. Trench Raiding With The Lads Edition>What is Trench Crusade? An alternate weird history 28mm/32mm tabletop skirmish game still in a pre-release playtesting phase but with the full release slated for this year. Playing my first game this Friday. New Antioch vs the Black Grail. Bringing a LT, Sniper Priest, Engineer, Heavy Mech, shock trooper and 3 Yeomen. What can I expect?
>>97263432You’ll almost certainly be outnumbered 2-1. Fly thralls ignore terrain and are very capable of setting up interference and gang-up ambushes on their own terms. Your opponent will almost certainly bring a Lord of Timor’s, especially if this is an into game for you both. LoT is a nasty unit; avoid melee at all costs.BG get stronger as the game progresses and Infection markers start to multiply. Your priorities should be achieving the mission objectives or killing at least half his models as quickly as possible, pick one and stick to it. Your Sniper Priest is almost certainly a waste of points. BG specialise in large numbers of light units so if he doesn’t have a multi shot weapon he’s going to do jack shit. With a single shot rifle, if lucky, he might take out two Thralls. Might. I hope your MHI also takes some kind of powerful multi shot weapon, you want to be knocking down a guaranteed 1-2 models a turn. Best advice is to go to trench companion, build your full list and post it here so we can kibitz.

>>97262482>>97262566What I mean is that we're perfectly accustomed to Exalted being able to no-sell guns, and even having some heroic mortals managing bullet dodging by the skin of their teeth. There may always be people weird about guns, but the game is never going to support guns being an equalizer between Exalted and mortals. The guns that are impressive to Exalted are the kind of Artifact guns and blasters in Shards of the Exalted Dream, and they're only deadly because one of the Chosen, a god, etc. is committing motes to them.
>>97262921I hope I don't come across as disagreeing. I'm just adding my thoughts that guns as they are IRL would take a lot away from the setting, but guns as they are in fantasy and westerns would be pretty okay by me. It's a hard thing to define.Revolvers? Okay.Machine Gun/Tommy Gun? Nope.Laser Gun? Sure, for Alchemicals.Gatling Gun? Nope.Mortars? Nope.Missiles? Nope.Long range laser canons? Sure.Sniper Rifle? Nope.Firestick that shoots super far? Sure, with charms.I don't know, I sure as heck wouldn't think of Creation as being bronze age. I'm not even sure what that means in the context of a fantasy setting with magic that's so prevalent.
>>97262998>I don't know, I sure as heck wouldn't think of Creation as being bronze age. Most of civilized Creation isn't in the Bronze age technologically. Sure there's probably some places where civilization collapsed, but most of the societies we see have probably pulled themselves into the Iron Age with weird gonzo leaps in strange places. Bronze Age is more of an aesthetic painted on.And for missiles, they had Thousand Forged Dragons for a rough equivalent.

>>97257900 Damn, I've always side eyed the tank cleaning feature. I run older printers that have an LED test, which I figure later models just relabel. Anyway, I've always put my resin back in the bottle with a strainer to catch possible loose bits floating around, then lay my vat on folded paper towels for a little bit of give but still have the firm backing of the silicon mat and the hard backing of the table. From there, I level the scraper so it's flush and remove any stuck bits. I should note that I use a plastic scraper and the corners are rounded so they reduce the chance of stabbing into the FEP.I use a paper towel to wipe any uncured resin, expose that to UV light, and throw it away. The vat gets a quick IPA wipe down from there.
