>>97817591They don't tell the consumer pigs this, but you can still play older versions of tabletop games with your friends. You do have friends, right?
>>97819842My friends are first and foremost fantasy /awg/ players. I'm quite happy they gave Warcry a chance despite avoid GW's games like the plague, for a good reason but that's obvious to anyone stuck in the GW's hell. The local GW crowd is good-hearted but absolutely mindless, they only follow the shiny new releases and the mere thought of playing an unsupported game/edition gives them a panic attack.
So with the Nemesis Claw's prescience token system when it says "Skip" that operative's activation does that mean you can activate them later or are you totally passing their turn for that turning point?
>>97821339My condolences. Maybe try to get them to play Mordheim if they haven't already? It's surprisingly quite mechanically similar to KT18 except with an actually good campaign system.

Recently I found some Humanity Fuck Yeah YouTube videos that use AI voice narration on my feed. After using them as background noise while cleaning my apartment I found that that most of them are more or less the same. Humans are the only ones who know how to fight/love sex/survive/etc. How can we save the genre or reinvent it so it isn't so stale?
>>97826390(deleted post there because I thought that my older post didn't go through, then it somehow did)And you're right, I suppose it wouldn't at that point be a HFY story but rather a more typical scifi story where the humans just happen to come out on top There "is" something intriguing though about having humans in this circumstance win not because they're most adaptable or have some kind of human spirit or anything generic like that which is what human-positive scifi tends to dobut rather because of a quirk of our biology that just happens to favor us in a particular circumstance doubly so because it also opens up plenty of "what if's" in the form of scenarios where the aliens have a biological advantage, and figuring out which would win out in the end or maybe what sort of technologies we would focus on more than them and vice-versa again, we're probably not even remotely HFY here, and this definitely would not appeal to the sort of person who thinks breathing oxygen is a superpower (for fucks sake if an alien doesn't breathe oxygen THAT would be the weird thing) but a scifi story where humans have to rely rather than on technology, on biology, has potentialespecially because it would be unexpected, biological advantages are usually given to the designated "brute" race or the insectoids or so
>>97826428>but rather because of a quirk of our biology that just happens to favor us in a particular circumstance>doubly so because it also opens up plenty of "what if's" in the form of scenarios where the aliens have a biological advantage, and figuring out which would win out in the end or maybe what sort of technologies we would focus on more than them and vice-versaHave you read or watched project hail Mary?
>>97826442I have not, is it good?
>>97826446I haven't watched the movie that just came out, but I liked the book a lot. The book doesn't have a conflict between humans and aliens but (Minor spoiler alert about the setting) it features a race of aliens that are very alien. First of all they evolved on an ammonia planet where gravity and heat was so hight to be basically lethal to everything on earth, which however means that they can't survive in our at atmosphere the same way we can't survive in theirs. They also are completely blind because they basically live in the depths of the ocean so they have never evolved sight and instead rely on ecolocation. They have insane material science compared to us but at the same time because they lacked ways to perceive electromagnetic radiations they just discovered the existence of stars and that space is not just completely empty relatively recently, so they are for example completely ignorant of special relativity of cosmic radiationsIt basically checks a lot of the points you made.
>>97823757Avatar is an explicitly anti-human narrative, it's hardly surprising that HFY lovers wouldn't despise the Na'vi.

Am I supposed to learn how to play every deck to get good at this game?
In every card game, be it Pokémon or MtG or Yugioh, the top decks are the top decks for a good reason. So you should primarily invest in learning how to play against these decks and whatever decks specifically counter yours. You don't need to learn to counter every dogshit brew some rando cooked up, just the decks that actually matter and are actually relevant.
>>97826182or you can play kitchen table
>>97826649Sure, but playing with fine tuned decks is very fun. It can be enjoyable. Kitchen table isn't very conductive to producing a truly competitive experience which is what many players want.
>>97815281No, you only need to learn how to play the current $500 meta deck and replace it with the next $500 meta deck every 6 months
>>97826662competitive is fun in games where you don't have to buy in. I really enjoyed legends of runeterra as someone who had like 20 EDH decks before atraxa was in print, had the blue double breaker for american duel masters, raigeki and mirrorforce and xyz dragon i think i left ygo by set 5 or 6. I liked emulation programs like cockatrice , whatever the early 00s ygo duel simulator was. Competitive games are janky BS when you have to buy in. 150 dollars for a gemini elf at frank and sons. Compete at capitalism rather than the card game. I don't think i would want to be playing digimon in person because this game is so ruthless. why do you want a truly competitive card game experience? When these games were new this was novel- now we have seen many large scale e-sports. starcraft and magic were early outliers. CS picked up steam. then we had melee and halo. Now we are post league of legends. People have moved away from that esports mindset and largely prefer the older formats in ygo and commander in mtg. People want every archetype to feel finely tuned and to be able to play what they want. People want complexity and fairness. Thats what true competition is, not spamming metaslop and going 8 and 1. 40k is an interesting game to look at, they are probably the main community that truly wants competition. Even then they are largely held back by budget and build/paint time.

Therefore, not particularly unique in its own right, but neat concept.>Dark SunPretty cool and underrated, I like the concept, but don't find it interesting enough to invest any particular attention in it.>PlanescapeSimilar to Spelljammer.
