>>97365529Why would anyone here be on staff?
>>97365580Because 4chan is anonymous and /exg/ is the second most active place discussing Exalted after the Discord and the main counterdiscussion to what's considered there. If anybody on the Exalted team thought they were in an echo chamber and wanted to get opinions from outside of their own social sphere and preferably anonymously so that their own groups don't ostracize them for associating with the other, here is the place to go. We also sometimes get homebrew coming through.I'm not saying they are here, but it wouldn't be crazy to think they lurk.
>>97364986Now this is actually the cancer that's killing the board. I mean this dismissal of other people's experiences, which is way too common on /tg/. >>97365580Well, people who work on Exalted also tend to be fans of Exalted, and lot of them do post on various forums. Back when he was a dev, Holden visited here once or twice - once or twice while namefagging, that is, he may well have been around more anonymously. It wouldn't be particularly weird if some writer occasionally visited here, but I don't think there's any of them currently do so.

>>97365865>>97366799i would say use obscuring/covering terrain to your advantage, otherwise if you feel like your opponent has a bit of bloodlust you can use that to your advantage by leading your cav and certain units fairly far away on the board so you have more breathing room to get objectivesin most cases if the enemy is focusing fire and charging your missiles and cav, then that means your hero units (which are the backbone of CoS armies) have more wiggle room to do things as well

Why can't Druids wield bows? >bow: wood>arrow: wood>arrowhead: bone or flintEven crossbows can be made wholly of wood and shoot bone-tipped bolts. If anything, making these things actually requires very good understanding of trees and properties of wood. Regardless of all that, the whole non-metal theme is a meme. If you can cook stuff in a bronze cauldron, you should be allowed to use a bronze helmet too.
>>97361976>In my honest opinion, "Druid" would be better off as a subclass of Cleric, thematically.Great opinion. Beaten to it by at least 48 years in D&D. But you knew that already.>Also, what's with the exception for Scimitars?>SehaineWhat sort of answer is that? "Character published in 1992 is the reason that druids could use scimitars in 1977." You pretend D&D is le bad and you don't know they're clerics but then you pull a character like Sehaine out of thin air as a reason for scimitars which is also a D&D specific fact. In my own Traveller setting, the party has just learned that in their arms race to discover FTL communication before the Mormons, they have unleashed a chain of psionic events that could culminate in the destruction of society and the creation of our other fantasy setting, thousands of years in the future. My setting is pretty retarded.
>>97358565>How does that work in setting? Fluff-wise I mean?Only high level Hyperspace Physicists and Mathematicians could begin to explain it, and no matter what they tell you, extended study of the subject leaves a person noticeably less sane than when they began.According to them, in very simple explanations, Hyperspace travelling ships need a sentient mind in the same way an ocean-going ship needs a rudder. The rudder isn't aware of what it itself is doing, it doesn't need to move, it doesn't need to understand how the sails or engines or turbines function. Of course, that doesn't really make too much sense, but anything more takes a few years of university lectures or twenty hours of mind-numbing youtube videos, just to reach an initial understanding that Hyperspace is on some level, definitely psychic, but saying that right away to someone on the street makes the experts sound like quacks."Brain in a jar," stuff does weird with Hyperspace. The hyperspace drive turns on, does its stuff, the ship jumps away and... It doesn't reach the destination. Maybe it went somewhere else. Maybe it never left hyperspace. If, when, it's spat out, the ship is twisted, distorted. Or sometimes the ship is spat right back out a few seconds later, exactly where it entered, totally unharmed, except the, living "brain-in-a-jar," is totally gone, vanished, despite not being connected to anything beyond basic life support...The background psychic stuff is so that the setting has some rules to justify why 18m mecha are the most efficient ways of fighting, why mass AI drones won't take over, why super ace pilots are so valuable. The real deep lore explanation is that: Aliens from a higher dimension explored our realm for some purpose, they changed the laws of our reality to make their stuff work. Giant mecha were their form of astronaut suits. Hyperspace was their creation. Earth was part of their experiments.
>>97364984>bombarding their problems from orbit? How can you get anything from a location if it's just a smoking crater? Also meat will always be cheaper and more flexible than steel. You can throw a bunch of men at a problem and they can adapt. Robots might run into unforseen problems that could be overlooked. Meanwhile humans you know how they can act normally, what can and can't kill them and there's always more to throw into a problem. Sometimes even with an air of plausible deniability
Previous thread: >>97295718GURPS is a modular, adaptable system, capable of running a wide range of characters, settings, and play styles, with a level of detail varying from lightweight to completely autistic.Optional rules allow you to emulate different genres with a single system, or even switch genres within a single game.A nearly complete archive of GURPS books can be found by using the image. Never post direct links to the archive anywhere in plain text.If you're wondering where to start:- The Basic Set covers everything, including a lot of optional rules you probably won't use.- A genre guide can be found in the archive, under Unofficial/GURPSgen. It tells you what extra books and articles you may find useful for many common genres.- How To Be a GURPS GM is a good read even for players.- GCS (gurpscharactersheet.com) is an excellent character-builder software, with page references to all the books and the option to export to both Foundry and Fantasy Grounds.Thread question: what's the best classic GURPS cover art?
90% of unofficial GURPS content now seems to just be one extremely autistic guy who is trying to stat the entire past from the carboniferous to the cold war.Why aren't there more people like that? You can't convince me that the GURPS fanbase is lacking the necessary level of autism. There should be dozens of obsessive-compulsive loons writing up every steam locomotive, or species of butterfly, or something.

Should an elven wizard be more powerful on average than a human one? Explain your answer.
In my setting, Elves age at the same rate as the other races, while still being immortal, they just all fuck off to other places in search of power and glory once they hit a certain age. If can Elf can engage in interdimensional travel, they WILL fuck off to go do realpolitik in one of the various Elven Strongholds across the Multiverse. The only Elves in the Mortal Plane are the very young, and a few odd Exiles that are sent to live in the Mortal Plane as punishment, serving Penitence for this or that reason by taking charge of the Stewardship and Education of young Elves.Rather than being cautious, in order to protect their long lives, Elves in my setting are foolhardy, because they have an almost infinite amount of time to rest and heal from there wounds. If an Elf Swordsman loses a limb, he mostly suffers a loss of face and social standing; he can just take a few decades to study magic until he regenerate that limb, and than go back to practice his Swordsmanship. And basically every Elf has mastered some form of skilled trade, so they can earn a living while healing from dangerous work. For this reason, most other Races and Cultures hate Elves, but actually stamping them out would be difficult, because at any one time, there are like a half-dozen Elf Wizards hanging around that will just Black Hole any army that tries to engage in any meaningful Elf genocide.
>>97364609Would they even be fair to be playable at that point?
