do you use character portraits in your game?
how do you get them? do you use any websites\generators?
do you use AI? how do you prompt it?

Yea they were right, digital art fucking blows compared to water color or oils. And yes, the luddites talking about the camera being bad for art were also right. And yes, the original luddites were also right.

The luddites are almost always right, humans will just habitually choose convenience and ease over happiness and quality, and then we act like we're shocked when we live in an age of widespread meaninglessness.

I so far have used one every time. Sometimes I have drawn them myself, others I just have used something I found online. I have been experimenting with AI in cases where I didn't find anything fitting or had a too specific idea. I also liked using Charakter-Editors for a while. Here is a little collage of those that I have used over the years - rate or hate I guess.

>but that's because it's people with a human soul trying to come up with gay liberal world view reasons to logically explain why something they intuitively know is bad is bad

There are people who "intuitively know" that the world is flat. You'll forgive me if I'm gonna need more than your *feelings*
>>
>>97242200
Maybe not, but it doesn't look bad, or at least not worse than plenty of real art I've seen. I like it anyway.

Question of the Thread:
Should mecha have hands? Should the hands be humanlike? If they shouldn't have hands, what should they have? If no hands, why even have arms?

Merry Mecha Christmas, hope you guys had a good day.

Could I get some feedback on some Lancer maps and design I made for a mission set? I'm doing tile-less so ignore the squares. The scenario is assaulting a port town, I tried to incorporate a good amount of hard and soft cover for both sides along with blocking terrain. NPC placements aren't final but obviously they'll come from various places in 2.

1st scene is Demolition, players go in across a minefield to try to demo an enemy command structure, taking out 5 support pillars, naval artillery tries to target players hanging out in the back, bonus objective is to extract some sabotaged materials that will go bad in a few turns, will give extra building points for next scene.
2nd scene is Nexus Defense with some NPC support, players make their defensive line from a premade bunch of buildings, enemies come in waves and try to destroy player's command building, players can rush out to grab stuff that higher threat enemies drop on kill to get reserves as a bonus objective, artillery still going at it but can't damage the Nexus itself.
3rd scene is Control, players go in and try to capture the naval artillery while its occupied with an NPC army off screen, they have to either fly or swim around to get to the ships off of the coast, there's an ultra or elite enemy in the water depending on how they do up to that point that grabs them and tries to drag them under and do damage with grapple stuff, bonus objective is to disarm a time bomb on some cargo that gives repair caps.
4th scene is a straight brawl against rivals plus some story NPCs, wanted to make it sort of unbalanced at the start so they have to scramble for cover or make their own, bonus objective is to destroy/capture an enemy officer that's trying to run away during the fighting for narrative rewards.

Apologies for the chromatic aberration, I only noticed it recently when making the collage

what software is that?
>>
>>97242557
Talespire, it's pricey and it makes you pay for players, but it looks pretty, it was a holdover from a previous game that I just kept using because my friends already had it.
>>
>>97242560
that's interesting. I mostly use Foundry and build maps with DungeonDraft but that looks killer as a way to make games super immersive
>>
>>97242566
It is, it doesn't have any automation so you have to do everything out of the application, but it's fun to use, you throw dice around and by the end of a session you have a massive pile of dice around the board where people make their rolls.

I feel like this edition has alot of objectively bad things about it and is absolutely where the alot of worst qualities of current editions showed up. But I feel like I prefer playing this edition compared to a lot of previous editions and 10th edition. Its a weird transitional period where there's still a lot of the old units that haven't been legended yet while still having the fucking Primaris lot. Its strange but I don't feel like I'm missing out on much staying on this edition and playing with friends casually instead of going back to playing the current edition.

It was the last time 40k was actually fun
It was a long needed refresh especially after the clusterfuck 6th and 7th had become but it created a trend of dumbifying the game and making it all catered towards the "competitive" gameplay
It was the middle ground in between 40k falling into two extremes
>6th-7th where the entire game revolved around cheesing the fuck out of it
>9th-10th where the entire game revolves around buying the strongest list in the current meta that shifts every other month
My younger brother and I still occasionally play it to this day

I will say that the stuff that was broken in 7th, everyone knew it was broken and the people I played with wouldn't play with it unless both sides knew the gloves were coming off.

I had a lot of fun that through that edition, but all I ran was a CAD with a Sorcerer, 3 TSon squads and ~500 points of heavy support. I did not win much but 4++ and fearless on the Rubrics meant I would have models on the table at the end of the game (unless I got swarmed by orks or D-Flamers happened) so losing did not feel terrible and they could kill MEQ in the open so I could do some damage even if they were slower than molasses in the snow and were hard capped at a 24in threat range.

>Anyone who leads a group with a building is unlikely to leave that post. So that rules out abbots, superiors, priests and bishops in most cases. The pope is literally a senior administrative position and mostly concerned with management and both internal and external politics. Same for the bishop. Priests are stuck to their congregation and specialize in preaching more than practice. Monks are stuck to their monastery and serve by living an ascetic life and nuns are women and thus lack agency.

Depends on the noble rank of other members of the party. A Bishop wouldn't be that strange a holy man amongst a group (such as Charlemagne's Peers) supporting a King or Emperor. Abbots fit amongst upper nobility such as lesser Kings, Dukes, and Marquess. It would not be unexpected to have a Count or Baron receive council from the brother or sister superior from a convent or monastery in their lands. Knights would likely interact with the parish priesthood. Outside their monasteries frairs, monks and nuns would likely be the clergy interacting with the more common people.

Literally never. Kikes hate White.
>>
>>97242358
Why?
>>
>>97242340
I'm mostly indifferent.
It gets complicated because Hound ultimately competes with Wolf as fantasy creature type and Wolf is wildly more popular. They're both canines, but we linguistically subset them. And werewolf falls victim to this, too.
Meanwhile, cat as a creature type has always been a mix of both housecats, lions, and leonin. So it's always been easier to create tribal support for.
The dog update feels like it was an effort to give the subtype more attention, but never properly addressed what the real problem with its design is. So it ended up being an easy but pointless errata.
The only way to realistically give Hound proper support while maintaining flavor is to errata all wolves and hounds to canines (and werewolves to human canines), and all cats to felines. But that's more complicated than I'm willing to ask for.

Pic related.
We always see cat as cat. Lions, tigers, they're both just cat.
But dogs? There's a million of them, and if you call a wolf a dog then someone's gonna get pissed. Wolves is wolves.
Makes zero sense genetically, but fantasy is always more cultural than actual.

You guys have probably seen those comments, tweets, blogs, emails, replies, etc, with bible verses or "THE LORD WILL TAKE THEE" or some other religious screeching on pretty much every website you've ever used.
You probably thought that was some crazy old lady, or maybe an automated spambot, or at weirdest some kind of hunter or maybe even some malk. But it's not. Most of those actually come from me.
You're probably imagining I'm nuts, maybe a noddist or some neurotic weirdo, but I'm not.
I just really, really hate infernalists. And so I put those everywhere I can so they see it. I hate them so much that I want to ruin their nights, as often as I can, through any means available.

>What is Trench Crusade?
An alternate weird history 28mm/32mm tabletop skirmish game still in a pre-release playtesting phase but with the full release slated for this year. Based on the art and lore of Mike Franchina, whose illustrations you may have seen floating around on /tg/ for a several years now, and designed by Tuomas Pirinen, one of the original creators of Mordheim. It's grimdark, it's visceral, it's awesome, and it's very Blanchitsu.

>What Trench Crusade is not
TC not an excuse for you to discuss IRL religion, history that didn't occur in the game, culture war shit, or discord bullshit on /tg/. Keep it on topic.

>What's the QRD on the background?
The Knights Templar turned heretic and opened the Gates of Hell when they took Jerusalem during the First Crusade. Over 800 years later the war is still ongoing as technology has developed to a pseudo diesel-punk WW1 standard and a third of Humanity has sided with the Infernal Princes.

Welcome to /un0/, an RP thread for playing a World of Darkness/Chronicles of Darkness Hunter. For any OOC questions about WoD/CofD, check the official general. >>97224887

Rules:
>We are acephale. There is no storyteller, we are not a quest.
>This thread is based primarily but not exclusively in the nWoD/CofD game Hunter: the Vigil. However, Vigil is defined by being highly setting agnostic, with a system for creating entirely custom monsters that do not exist in other WoD/CofD games. Thus, you have significant freedom in what you want to play and what you want to hunt. Feel free to play a member of the Society of Leopold, or a member of the Lucifuge hot on the tail of a Lasombra.
>Namefagging is encouraged but by no means mandatory.
>Keep in mind that even highly experienced Hunters typically only have fractured pieces of the puzzle, and every table has their own canon. The night is dark and full of misinformation.
>/un0/ is conceived of as an experimental end to end encrypted program that is very hard to compromise, retains very little data and purges that data regularly. Please play an actual Hunter.
>Spoiler any OOC discussion.

Happy hunting.
Unless this thread somehow takes off like a rocket, this will be the last un0 thread for the foreseeable future. Towards the end of the thread, please give your feedback in regard to these shorter, limited run RP threads.

Plenty of FLGS around but one of my favorites was the one on the 2nd floor of a 2 level strip mall, right above a takeout Chinese place, neither of which faced the street. It was a kinda run down place with concrete floors, boxes of unsorted MTG bulk, some random 3D printed minis for sale, and random old gaming books. Loved that place. Chopsticks19 killed it. The other games stores all went downhill, as well as Magic itself. I miss gaming in 2016 to 2019. Playing DnD in the store was fun, sorting through old Magic cards was fun. I still went to the FLGS all the time til got laid off. Now as a NEET I barely ever go

there's zero pictures online of my FLGS from the 2000s, which is surprising.

it was a warehouse in a village in northern England with a little shopfront. shared a big warehouse space with a shopfitting company, so the wargame crowd had access to wood-cutting equipment and other tools. middle-aged men basically lived in there like it was a pub, just making models all day.

for events, they'd lay out long rows of tables and then the younger crowd would come in for e.g. Magic: The Gathering tournaments. the place was still a mess with random scrap and tools lying everywhere (plus the owners' dogs roaming around) but it was amazing.

nowadays, the UK has moved more towards little 'gaming cafés' that are totally pristine and you all get cramped onto a small table to play D&D, usually paying by the hour. i hate it so much, bros.

My local LGS has weird opening times, open only a couple of each day at different times. I have tried to turn up when it says it will be open, but it is always locked then as well, usually with a 'gone for lunch' sign in the window. Who goes for lunch at 3.10pm? I think it might not want enyone to enter and may be the front for a cult or money laundering.

Mine had a minor controversy that got some smalltime youtubefags whining about it for a bit related to a prerelease special thing sending the store an extra box and the rules of the production company saying they could do whatever with it including selling online, which resulted in accusations of them selling people's preorders leading to the loss of a distributor and not being able to host events for things made by that company. It was for a card game I actually wanted to play too, I still got my preorder for the prerelease stuff without any issue and got it early because I wasn't one of the discordfags stirring shit. Now I have to buy my cards for the game online for worse prices instead of getting them there.

Damn are you me? A "gaming cafe" has opened up near me just in the summer, it's alright but it only has cuck sized tables, soulless 3d printed 40k terrain and charges by the hour, with a full game costing about £7.50 a person, which is frankly ridiculous. Still, when the other LGS in my town is an old pet store with exposed brick and wiring all over the walls and smells and has old pet store stuff everywhere, maybe the "gaming cafe" is the better choice. Anyway I drive into the city to play at a club in a card store where the tables work out at about £4 a game and there's great terrain.
