>>

Damn, sick find. You should hold onto them until the refresh. Any time gw refreshes a kit, the old one skyrockets in price. You'll likely be able to pay for the whole fomo box for their refresh with the profits from selling one of those boxes if you time it right
>>
>>97357322
Damn brother you got basically 2000 points of ogres for the price of one already greatly discounted spearhead
Word of caution, maybe don't build the leadbelchers as leadbelchers. Rumour has it they might get squatted. Though if you really like the look I don't think you'll have a problem running them as hunters or whatever ranged unit is supposed to replace them come the refresh.

Il be sure to post the full spearhead when I'm finished

yeah tzeentch is the best, unfortunately he's got the worst models and in order to fit in this hard-coded balance of the 4 (or 5 or 8) he gets his portfolio torn apart and simplified

which is ironically enough a canon part of his story: he was said to be the strongest and greatest of all the gods (so logically the one chaos god) until the others joined to get him down that pedestal by shattering his magic, which is now spread across the multiverse as all the spells everyone else can wield
and thus magic was born and tzeentch immediately ordered a pair of demons to recover each and every spell
>>
>>97352992
>divine spheres of influence
You're looking at this process from the wrong side.
GW didn't sit down and choose the 4 gods based on some idea that they can represent the totality or most important elements of the emotional sphere or whatever.
They were a miniatures making company and asked themselves what demons they wanted to make: balrogs and classic red devils were one, glabrezu and succubi were another, and so were vroks, because at the start they were just copying dnd for minis, and they added nurgle because gross undead were cool and squiggly shit they would call horrors because everyone likes sculpting those silly things, together with other freaky sculpting/converting happy accidents; and then they arranged them in groups and that was it.

So if you want a new god added to the pantheon you have to start from an aesthetic and theme for its miniatures that would be missing from the current demons, and not at all some deeper metaphysical or emotional sphere, that can get slapped on later and fit to purpose.

>SPAs are fucking AIDs for one-off games.
Why?

They don't do very much. You can't put them on that many pilots. And you can't stack them on pilots without making those pilots megaexpensive. So what's the problem?

I would rather play campaigns 100% of the time of course, but obviously that's not always practical.
>>
What are good SPAAs for a Mercenary group to have? I was thinking a Partisan for AA-Guns and a LRM Carrier or two for missiles.
>>
>>97357312
If you like flying super mechs then yes, although the first one is a bit demo/proof of concept and it really comes together in the second one.
>I gotta draw some more
Please do.
>>
>>97357434
The bell curve of 2d6 isn't big enough for cheaply priced number shifts. The movement profiles and range bands in AS are already too large to make fast mechs even faster. Non-LOS blocking terrain is largely irrelevant in most AS games anyway, so that's mostly useless. Re-rolls are fundamentally too powerful.
SPAs should be a BV/PV multiplier, not a static cost.
>>
>>97357502
Huh. Their mechs remind me of Armored Core. I guess I'll pop it in the Xbox and try it.
>Please do.
Got any pictures of a cockpit I could use as a reference? Theres surprisingly little from Battletech.

I'm looking for duelist / flintlock-wielding girls who'd fit into a Warhammer Fantasy RPG. Sadly, it's really hard to any that don't look too anime.

I think the next revival movement in a sinilar vein to the OSR is going to be 3rd edition focussed. I think that granular, complex build focussed market isnt really served by 5e or pathfinder truly, and theres empty space in the market/community.

It is probably not too controversial to say that the art of modern rulebooks is made with female representation in mind.

These women are predominantly filling important roles, such as archmages, military officers, or nobles.
But how come there is barely any art that shows them in peril, or at a clear disadvantage? Regardless of their status.

There is no shortage of men in peril.
Neither in classic nor in modern art.

Yeah, quite frankly, feel like neither of you guys will be satisfied. It just makes more sense to start a new campaign in 2e/Savage PF than try to retrofit your old one. Hell, I'm unsure if the GM would be happy with 2e given how much more magic item focused the game is (on top of the admittedly lame design of them...).

>>97352941
I think this is a very fair rebuttal to the hypocrisy argument against PF2e. 5e players are really, really adamant of adding more and more bloat to 5e as they view it more like a Bethesda game, a skeleton for their own vision. PF2e players view the system as a game first, a game that needs adjustments than some massive overhaul mod. People aren't (or shouldn't be) against homebrewing or changing things about PF2e (if more hesitant thanks to how much you can ruin your own experience), they just know they don't need to completely upheave everything to make it fun.

If you are going to be building all the stuff for the setting anyway I'd say GURPS. Especially since you can use both tactical and range band rules from Spaceships as needed.

If you want do it in Mekton this is probably the best starting point
https://gundam.fandom.com/wiki/Running_Mobile_Suit_Gundam_in_Mekton_Zeta
But you still need to build all the stuff yourself.

Just use Gundam Senki bro, the One Year War is what it's specifically build for so it has all the shit already statted.

Lancer would take some heavy homebrewing to use for that purpose, and I don't think anyone has done that homebrewing for you already. Making the mechs less customizable is easy enough, just set limits for the players. The hard part is the tech level and the nature of the License system, which means you'd need to throw out 100+ pages from the book, then write up your own replacements.
Maybe that is within your effort level, but if I was wanting to run Actual Gundam as opposed to something Gundam-inspired, I'd use Jovian Chronicles (very clearly inspired by UC Gundam) or Mekton Z (see >>97353643).

>>97353789

It's a DM shit test. It makes it so you think that your character saw something but isn't important enough to check out but you the player saw what happened and want to investigate but doing so will be metagaming. If the DM hates you then you will get punished but if the DM likes you then nothing will happen or if you are the DM's pet you find what you need despite rolling bad.

I feel like always letting them find something on the first search, even on a bad roll, is the way to go, on a poor roll it can be additional information of little significance (ink stain, still wet, something was written here recently) or trinket of little value (quill sharpening knife, too short to be any good as a weapon) because in my experience it keeps them from re-investigating the same spot over and over again.

Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to first-decade, Gygaxian D&D, its faithful modern clones, and content created for use with them. Later editions (2e and newer) should be discussed elsewhere.

Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons played as intended by its creators from 1974 to 1983 — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching metaplots and a greater emphasis on player agency.

If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about: we'll be happy to help you get started. We also have two excellent beginner guides created by Anons with feedback from the thread that you can check for help:

Fellas. I've taken anons advice. There'll be three challenging encounters, one easy fight and one patrol throughout the dungeon. But you see the small room at the top of the image? I am thinking of that room having a ladder up to a hatch right by the entrance of the dungeon - this being the lower level - to cut escaping players off. Is that a dickish thing to do? The players can break the ladder if they see it and connect the dots, but if they don't see it then they might wipe while trying to run away through the western stairway. Is that unfair?
>>
>>97357375
Welcome to the real /osrg/, Anon.

>I am thinking of that room having a ladder up to a hatch right by the entrance of the dungeon - this being the lower level - to cut escaping players off.
My main misgiving, if I understand correctly what you intend to do, is that I'm not sure it makes much sense for whoever inhabits the dungeon to have a ladder to cut off invaders who are inside and trying to escape. Generally speaking, the main goal of pretty much *anybody* with a home is to keep robbers from getting in, not to keep them from leaving. And, if anything, an extra ladder right by the entrance just makes the whole place more unsafe for the locals, so why would they leave a ladder there?

In other words, it sounds like a gimmick. And gimmicks can feel like meta bullshit and unfair to players, whereas something that is justified by some sort of naturalism is more likely to be received with "ah, that makes perfect sense in hindsight".

Of course, if there's extra information that you have omitted and makes it make sense, it might be better.
>>
>>97357375
cute map, anon. i didn't see your previous post but, couldn't that one go either way? that's an escape route for the players, or an opportunity to trap the MONSTERS down there?

one of the first problems in Barrowmaze is that the (most likely) entrance has some previous adventurers' pulley system dropping into the dungeon, but some asshole has cut the rope.

ez solution is to just attach some fresh rope. but a simple hole in the ground being the 'known' entrance creates a lot of opportunity for cleverness and dickery.

No, the separation is quite relevant, and it is good and desirable to be able to make monsters that are one of strong or tough, but not both.
