An alternate weird history 28mm/32mm tabletop skirmish game still in a pre-release playtesting phase but with the full release slated for this year. Based on the art and lore of Mike Franchina, whose illustrations you may have seen floating around on /tg/ for a several years now, and designed by Tuomas Pirinen, one of the original creators of Mordheim. It's grimdark, it's visceral, it's awesome, and it's very Blanchitsu.

Apparently there's a vidya game called Hunger (not to be mistaken with The Hunger, Fear and Hunger, or Hunger Games franchise). The premise is napoleonic era zombie apocalypse, remnants of mankind keeping the hordes at bay with faith and experimental weaponry. Which is admittedly a bit of a stretch from WW1 of the faithful against assorted spawns of devil's asshole, but I feel like there is a bit of a similar vibes there anyway.

It's a DM shit test. It makes it so you think that your character saw something but isn't important enough to check out but you the player saw what happened and want to investigate but doing so will be metagaming. If the DM hates you then you will get punished but if the DM likes you then nothing will happen or if you are the DM's pet you find what you need despite rolling bad.

I don't have a 3rd edition rulebook to hand but in 4th casualties caused by blast weapons can be removed from anywhere in the unit explicitly to prevent sniping out specific models with the blast template. (4th is also just generally 3e but better anyway, and you can play with 3e codexes if you don't like the 4e ones).

The Witch Hunters codex had a few strange things too.
Battle sisters squads being 10 to 20 models, while the 2001 CA was 5 to 10.
Retributors squads lost their Heavy Flamer with the WH codex
Immolator also lost the ability to shoot the Twin heavy flamer while moving 12"
Till this day I have no idea why the Dominion squad special weapon cost more the CA version costed the same (well they where just called Battle sisters in a fast attack slot) and the Dominions are almost the same but can be taken in smaller squads and can take more special weapons. But the ability to take more is negated by the extra cost

painted my first ever space marines. white was a hard choice and I probably went about it the worst way possible, but happy with how they came out.

played them vs plague marines and it felt a lot more fun and balanced than my usual matchup with my buddy, Exaction vs Vespids. I wanna make space cops work but it just feels like an uphill battle compared to playing canoptek or even AoD.

A tip for white is to not use white, instead aiming for a very light gray/off-white, so that you can then highlight with pure white.
More usable as a tip I think is that painting the bases will probably help the models a lot. Currently they blend into the unpainted terrain and it makes the models look unfinished.

Seconding this. Unfinished bases are always a drag, but in this case they actively hurt the paintjob of the marines.

pretty easy fix. Noted for the future about grey-white progression. I learned a lot over the process. Would deffo airbrush grey to start next time, then white over top to get that gradient, leaving some room to edge highlight with the brightest white possible.

Building an Echo Knight fighter (2014) for a few campaign starting soon, and I have no idea what to do for feats and race. My (rolled) stats are

Human fits the backstory I have, but I can't decide on a feat. Non-variant human works with my odd stats but is a little boring. I'm using the unarmed fighting style with a backup two hander, but I can't really use tavern brawler because grappling doesn't work great with the echo. Not taking GWM because I'm stubborn and hate that it exists.

Any suggestions for fun race/feat/multiclass options?

Yes non variant human is the way to go. +1 in 4 different stats is just too good to pass up. Otherwise the usual fighter races are good like goliath, dwarf etc.

Unarmed? Okay, I won’t stop you. A lot of feats I’d recommend would be for different weapons. I’ll give some general ones.

Lucky, alert, magic initiate with shield of faith (or something else), resilient for wisdom, warcaster

The obvious one is wizard, bladesinger might make your lack of shield not a problem. Diviner is also a good choice.

Figured. Though I'm not sure how much better it is, with any race that gives +1/+1/+1 or vuman with a half feat I can get +1 to 3 stats and also the benefits of the race/feat. It's a short while till session 1 so I can choose base human for now regardless

I picked it for flavour, I imagine I'll mostly be two handing and but I'll bring up the fists for being disarmed, low stakes encounters, some roleplay things like bar fights. I picked two handers as my back up because I feel they can skip taking GWF without losing much, but one handers and ranged weapons lose more for skipping their dedicated styles
