They know enough to make a Disable a Device check at least, although how much more than that kind of depends on the hazard. The relevant rules here are (as listed here https://2e.aonprd.com/Rules.aspx?ID=2846):

Detecting a Hazard:
>"Every hazard has a trigger of some kind that sets its dangers in motion. For traps, this could be a mechanism like a trip wire or a pressure plate, while for an environmental hazard or haunt, the trigger may simply be proximity. When characters approach a hazard, they have a chance of finding the trigger area or mechanism before triggering the hazard. "

Later in that same block of text:
>"Anyone who succeeds [a secret Perception check against the hazard's Stealth DC] becomes aware of the hazard, and you can describe what they notice."

The first quote specifies that they're rolling to detect the trigger area or mechanism, and the second clarifies that a successful perception check makes them aware of the hazard, with the GM describing what the character actually notices in the world. Nowhere does it say that they learn what the hazard *is*, although it's often obvious (e.g. the mechanics of a hidden spike pit are pretty clear once you've noticed it), and when it's not I imagine a relevant Recall Knowledge would probably tell them more about it.

What's clear, however, is that they've definitely found it, and they can make a roll to disable it. The rules for disabling hazards are a little further down:

I'm going to recommend against this unless your group of friend have never touched the game before. It is a lot easier to start at Advanced and work your way downward from Advanced -> Genesys -> Legacy formats (TOSS, HAT, Edison, GOAT) -> Speed Duel than it is to do the opposite. There's also no real shortage of casual decks in every one of those formats I mentioned.

Triax 2 Fat Boy and Hell Angel seem like strict upgrades for their specialties. Taurus seems like kind of a joke but I once played a character using the chassis for the extra gun mount, putting a classic boom gun on one shoulder and the Silver Wolf particle beam on the other (presuming dual fire-linked classic boom guns is too much for it to handle).

It is just that they are cunts with a sense of grandeur, wonder and genuine passion (their love for music and dance) that through the magic of White Wolf writing, is somehow completely absent from the Exalted.

After playing both the original Shandalar and the 2016 update version I've come to the conclusion that magic was just more fun in 1995 when it was more loose and relaxed. The kinds of decks you go up against in the 2016 version are so much more ruthless about shutting down every play you make that the only way to compete is to be an even more obnoxious dickhead and make sure they never get a chance to do anything. Every victory was bitter and spiteful in a way that I never felt with the older simpler Magic cards.

That's probably the problem I had with Shandalar 2016. It felt very much designed around optimal play where every mistake is punished with immediate failure. I hated crafting a deck that was laser focused on discards and land destruction but it was the only strategy that actually worked for me.

It's infuriating that we'll never have a proper client. MTGO codebase is from the 90s and the UI looks absolutely terrible while Arena is on par with gacha slop mobile games.
Was it that hard to invest in a mtgo amd rework it to make it look more appealing to a newer audience? I don't see why wotc wanted to make a new client from scatch when one already had every card in it.

Same applies to a lot of TCGs. This is why games like YuGiOh were best before a certain set, even outside of card balance. Your deck was the best with what you had, and you made it work. But it's ok because the people you are playing against are also (usually) playing the same way.

Encounters don't have themes. The players are encountering those creatures because those creatures happened to be there.

Zombies, ghosts, and mimics can move. They can travel to locations where creatures of the other types are present.

Healthy balance, yeah. Like every time, the inquisitor (Heinrix you are my brother, I love you) is right when it comes to chaos and daemons, mostly. You cannot fuck around with chaos worshippers and cults who already destroyed one world, or not exterminate genestealer cultists, that is just making logical choices and keeping safe. The inquisition does at least 75% of what it does for a good reason, when they're not at war with each other or trying to kill every single person who saw a daemon instead of conscripting them into inquisitorial warbands.
But the little things, like saying you don't see a point in mass bloodshed for faith, or saying that you want to understand xenotech, those are little things that do feel like they're realistic without trying to veer out of what 40k truly is, but still show that not everyone is a foaming mouth zealot. Or even the simplest ones like "Yes I know our people are enemies, but the REAL enemy is Chaos" when speaking to the Eldar which is just like, logial.

They were thinking of the hot new topic in architectural circles in the 1980's - the arcology, and what would happen if you stuck a bunch of stuffy brits into one. They then mixed it with dark dystopian environments like 1982's Blade Runner. They satirized it by making the Imperium's cities hives the dark end result of the idea. The satire was then lost when the Saudis started building them 30 years later and they were more horrifying than one could possibly have predicted.

A lot of modernity is also reflecting back into 30k/40k, because what is being done today is way more intense than a bunch of 80's nerds once hypothesized. If you read closely, the Dark Mechanicum 'Silica Mutus' descriptions read eerily similar to current LLM training methods, for example. Modern technology is moving faster than 40k's 'mysterious supertech.'
