Way of the Samurai Edition

>What is this?
/TG/ DEVELOPED A GAME
IT IS PLAYABLE. IT HAS BEEN PLAYED.
EXPEDITION is a ~1880s era, Jules Verne-inspired retro-futurist, underground blood soaked adventurescape.
It is a Skirmish wargame. Two players with their own expeditions, on a hexgrid map, explore & fight each other for victory and profit.

3 versions of the rules exist, 2 of which have been playtested. The main one is 2e, to be found :
as with maps, tokens and lore resources.

Go for it, I dumped some chapters of Moorcock in here once. If you're feeling generous it would be kind to put it in a png or two to avoid creating a big wall of text

I have a distinct memory of doing a reading at U.C. Irvine, where Avram was teaching at the time, to find him sitting in a front row, holding a frisky helium balloon in one hand, and a pretty young student’s hand in the other. After I finished my gig (somewhat distracted by performing in front of one of my major heroes, old friend or no), Avram came up to give me a hug and to inquire, quite seriously, “What do you know about feral camels?” As it happened, I did know something about a tentative attempt by the American Army, in the days after the Civil War, to introduce a small force of camels into the deserts of the Southwest. The attempt was soon abandoned; but for many years afterward, soldiers and nineteenth-century tourists alike would report having seen impossible ghostlike creatures materializing out of a sandstorm, and vanishing again just as swiftly.

I happened upon this while flipping the story I'm aiming for. It reminds me of the oldlore of saurs being introduced to the west like these camels. It makes me wonder if whoever came up with that knew this story, or if it's just such a perfectly natural idea that strange animals should be introduced to the deserts of America.

I think that name rings a bell, I saw it when I looked up CSC in the archive.

It's a really great piece of work, I've been having a marvelous time with it at my Gongfarmers chapter.

The next adventure I want to do is a multiple-choice mission where the PCs are offered three jobs from their fixer;

>I've got a guy who wants a guy dead. I've got another guy who wants someone...extracted against their will. Nothing bad will happen to him, in case you care. And I also have a straightforward bodyguard/escort gig. Take your pick, I have other runners who'll do the others.

Turns out, it's all the same guy. A mob informant is trying to duck out of his deal. The District Attorney wants him to testify, the triads want him dead, he wants to go to Tahiti with his mistress. The PCs will be up against two other teams of runners who have opposing objectives.

Anyone here ever tried using the Veins of the Earth cave generation system? I like how it can make nonlinear and challenging passages, but I can see it becoming repetitive with the limited number of options.

I'm probably not even gonna paint this specific one, because there are still a few support issues I want to work out, and maybe bulk up the tires.
>>
>>97827580
Sure

I did all the red the same way, but the eye lenses were slightly different.

In the course of all the drybrushing, the eye lenses got the same treatment. It ended up with a dark edge, transitioning to silver towards the center, which is what you want.

I thin took vallejo true metallic metal sterling silver light, which is pretty much just white metallic paint. I glazed it up to get a brighter center.

Then, I coated it in blood red speed paint. It maintained a bit of the metallic, but when it dries it becomes SUPER dull, so you bring it back to the glossy lens look by then giving it two coats of gloss varnish.

Been working on a yugioh based ttrpg on and off.
Uses cards as spells and stat blocks, relatively simple mechanics, characters can cast spells summon monsters and do a bit of fighting themselves. Mana is limited but recharges somewhat quickly. Mostly inspired by the pharaoahs memories story arc so sort of balanced up to the legacy of darkness/labyrinth of Nightmareperiod of cards.

Check it out and let me know what you think.

No, you're just blind.
Most countries have laws that require people who do any sort of reviews to disclose if they were paid for said reviews, including if they got the product for free. In fact, I'm pretty sure this is a standard part of YT's ToS.

But then again, maybe you're no blind and he does in fact not mention getting paid for reviews, in which case he's probably in violation of YT's ToS and maybe some actual laws...

Serious question: What value do slaves actually have to your average PC? Like, I've never seen any PC / group actively engage in slavery because there never seems to be any substantial reward worth the effort.
It's like crafting or running a business, there's just no *point* in engaging with the mechanics because the rewards are puny.
How could you make it actually appealing to players? It's not like they can load up a ship and sail off to the ivory coast.

Most TTRPGs are focused on combat and adventuring. Slavery generally only has utility in getting menial tasks done (or, in some cases, like Roman slavery, niche skilled labor as well). The only point of slavery in most TTRPGs would be having extra bodies to throw at the enemy, but you'd have to somehow justify why those slaves don't rebel, run away, etc.

The most practical "slaves" in your traditional TTRPG would be magical creatures that are forced by their nature or some even greater threat to be loyal to you, like a genie or some NPC whose choices are "be a loyal slave to these adventuring autists or get smited by an angry god" or something similar.
>>
>>97797671
My PC has a psuedoslave in one of my games. They're a techie who helps fix up gear my lowborn ganger wouldn't have access to and in return they live a life that's nominally more free than if they were to get captured by the authorities and returned to formal slavery.

In fiction or the real world? You've got Unsullied, Mamluks, Jannissaries, Aztec auxilliaries, plenty of examples with various obedience mechanisms.
>>97823158
Hill giants and ogres would definitely use human slaves for all sorts of things, both menial and technical labor, housekeeping, sex, cooking, infiltration, coming up with new shenanigans and other activities that can escape a 7 INT.

/tg/ products are fairly unique in that it's actually pretty simple to make them these days, with a plethora of products to assist in making and playtesting your game. Making your own games helps understand why games are made the way they are, as well as being fun to do.

>What you should post
Ideas for games, games you're currently making, updates to your own games in broad strokes, and any homebrewing for existing products that don't get much attention. Discussion about the above is welcome. Post good, be good, and look over others products, they care if someone looks more than anything.

My friends are first and foremost fantasy /awg/ players. I'm quite happy they gave Warcry a chance despite avoid GW's games like the plague, for a good reason but that's obvious to anyone stuck in the GW's hell.
The local GW crowd is good-hearted but absolutely mindless, they only follow the shiny new releases and the mere thought of playing an unsupported game/edition gives them a panic attack.

I need great knarloc models...
Also it's a good way to slow down the release of teams.

It would help if you read the full ploy, really.
"you can skip
your activations (in other words, you can delay that friendly
MURDERWING operative’s activation until your opponent has
only one ready operative"
they really explain it in the () that you can activate him later on. But it basically gets rid of one of you counteract actions.

>hate gw or only play the new and shiny thing

>>97827461
Sounds more like a one and done thing for me, but that they have to slow down the release of teams means they are out of proper ideas for teams it seems so sounds like the game is really in a bind here.
