Good luck playing a dead game. Only Lewd Attack and Labyrinthus are those considered "active". The others are either finished or left there.
>>

I was about to download the latest update and I noticed that you've added stuff for Soul-tethering, which made me wonder...

Some of these creatures used to belong to player facing races, have you considered supporting the player transforming into one of them, like someone becoming a Succubus or a Vampire or such.

All it would really take is having XP costs for the relevant traits and feats, and maybe a framework to better come up with the rituals to do it (which would be useful to have as player objectives even if playing the monster itself were to fall beyond the scope of the game).

In that vein, are there any plans to support controlled transformations on the part of the player? One idea I had for a character was a creepy mega-nerd alchemist (or mage who knows alchemy) in a journey to become a THE Tentacle Monster and I've found the lack of recipes for mutagens pretty disappointing.
>>
>>97275856
It is, and I didn’t
>>
>>97276542
>have you considered supporting the player transforming into one of them
No but the succubus has her own Corruption table. Other than that, that's more for homebrew especially considering how succubi and incubi work in Labyrinthus
>All it would really take is having XP costs for the relevant traits and feats, and maybe a framework
That's a lot of work, balance-wise, especially if you read the succubi and vampire Traits
>maybe a framework to better come up with the rituals to do it
The framework is Oracles+Imagination. You don't always need the game to tell you what to do, just get the idea and go
>a journey to become a THE Tentacle Monster
There are many ways to mutate, mostly through corruption. Mutagens are left vague so you can come up with something. Or make a homebrew.
Most of the stuff I add is often something suggested which is simple, but if it's complex either it requires me to put effort OR to use homebrews as inspiration and currently I'm focusing on testing and making sketches. if you want to can post your ideas in the discord so you can also test them and have other test them too
>I was about to download the latest update
I hope you still had downloaded the update

I remember buying a set of Pokemon "pencil topper" (they had a little depression in their base so they could sit on top of an eraser) figures with my pocket money, and the Charmander became my favorite toy. He'd go on adventures with his best friend Bulbasaur, and I even created a whole world with construction paper for them to explore, with different environmental zones and my other pokemon figurines as residents.

Only years later did I discover that what I had bought were bootleg recasts of the pokemon monopoly pieces. Seeing that little Charmander on that box is giving me a flood of memories.

>How would you implement undead PCs in a game

Just dont.
Solves your whole issue.
>>
>>97255944
>that's an extreme threat to the fun of the game if your PCs are supposed to be undead
There are campaigns for players to all be dragons. I daresay it's uncreative to say that giving your PCs a weird powerset closes more doors than it opens.
What about giving quests where other adventurers would be fucked but the undead PCs have an edge? Maybe an area with a shit ton of Gazers or something that would be a high-level challenge for normal players but is low-level to your undeads, and that is what makes them special and puts them in the right place at the right time for other events?
>>
>>97255834
Replace their race's strongest trait with the following:
"Undead Fortitude: When you are reduced to 0 Hit Points but not killed outright, you can drop to 1 Hit Point instead. Once you use this trait, you can't do so again until you finish a Long Rest."
If you want to do more, you can give them disadvantage on Persuation checks and advantage on intimidation checks.
If you want it more realistic and the group is fine with it, have all npcs want to kill the character on sight unless he's disguising his undead status.
>>
>>97255834
No need. Players choose whatever abilities make sense, just like for any character.

What's funny is that I don't think that WoC are even particularly popular as a faction. It was just the cheapest and quickest way to get a 2000 point army thanks to the army box and it's not even close.
I think the Empire box is like barely 750 pts or something and you can't even build it into a 1000 pts army cause you can't take a steamtank at those pts.
>>
>>97279099
I think the internet had been going through (at least the first few stages of) a cycle. Using warhammer as an example, we start with a relatively open field of discussion, then a gradual segregation of various nicher communities, in this case for example the various faction specific forums (lustria online, chaos dwarf dot net, etc). Then a consolidation with larger sites (reddit, this place), after which those sites gradually self-segregate themself again, combined with a resurgence of more niche communities, this time in the form of discords.

People used to be more polite because they hadn't spent a decade and change watching simpering idpol shitters infiltrating and ruining their hobbies and then using their co-option of nerdy community spaces online to enforce their sad sanitized PG-rated version of reality. They were more polite because conflict existed and was usually permitted almost everywhere but largely in a gentlemanly fashion where people could agree to disagree without being labelled a crypto-fasho-Nazi-istaphobe or whatever because of a minor disagreement. The "crazies"(ie, typical nerds, rather incomers like yourself) stick around here because it's the only place left that even pretends not to be run by and for rampantly homosexual subnormals, the only place where someone acting like a retard can be called retarded without being "regulated" and there are still some sane people on this shitty ball of dirt who understand that a spade should be called a spade.

In my experience most TOW players are fat, yes, but you do have the occasional twink weakling. It's not just TOW to be fair, AoS and 40k are similar or worse. I have been to local game stores in several counties and the only place where the majority of denizens were not fatasses was in France, but even still they were in worse shape than the average Frenchman on our find elsewhere.
Worst is US, with UK as a close runner up

Bardo is a very specific mentality towards humanity. Most Tzimisce see humans are we see bugs. They feel forced to eat them and that they are much better than humans. That's why they try so hard to detatch themselves to become something superior.

Logically speaking, there can be Tzimisce that follow Bardo, which isn't just a Discipline, but an entire moral ethos. But, they'd be the odd ones.

Back with a vengeance

Unironically yes. The FAQ and Rules Compendium don't have the authority to overrule the base rules the way errata and splatbooks do. People would be a lot more willing to accept the FAQ if it didn't have a bunch of shit rulings.

Chat GPT's answer is rather intriguing, I'm going to try to get it to give me some more authoritative sources. It is really annoying too because 3.5 is such abandonware at this point, why does it matter if I reference their creatures, when they don't make stuff for 3.5 anymore.
>>
>>97279214
When asking about this stuff, enable web search and peek at the sources.
>>
>>97279453
Yeah I read some guys blog and it wasn't hugely helpful.
It really does sound like you have to make such vague references. Like "there is a tall horned humanoid, a minotaur with earth elemental talents, you can learn more from the third Tome of Monsters on page 113, if you know what I mean" but even that might be too much.

Honestly? Might just copy some stats for monsters, change their ability wording (probably improve it, if anything) and do things that way. Just rename it and change it enough. Like those guys who made "OGL safe illithids" for Pathfinder.

ironically this solution screws over WotC more because it bypasses their content entirely, and means that fewer people will buy their books (not that most people would be anyway, nor is WotC even making money off of 3.5 books anymore)

I agree, it adds a lot of work with organizing and very easily bogs the game down into a awkward miniature game where people start thinking way too much.
That said sometimes you really need to know where characters are, but you should ask yourself if you need anything more than a sketch on graph paper and if its worth the effort to prepare an actual map.

Previous Thread: >>97090196

Welcome to /un0/, an RP thread for playing a World of Darkness/Chronicles of Darkness Hunter. For any OOC questions about WoD/CofD, check the official general. >>97224887

Rules:
>We are acephale. There is no storyteller, we are not a quest.
>This thread is based primarily but not exclusively in the nWoD/CofD game Hunter: the Vigil. However, Vigil is defined by being highly setting agnostic, with a system for creating entirely custom monsters that do not exist in other WoD/CofD games. Thus, you have significant freedom in what you want to play and what you want to hunt. Feel free to play a member of the Society of Leopold, or a member of the Lucifuge hot on the tail of a Lasombra.
>Namefagging is encouraged but by no means mandatory.
>Keep in mind that even highly experienced Hunters typically only have fractured pieces of the puzzle, and every table has their own canon. The night is dark and full of misinformation.
>/un0/ is conceived of as an experimental end to end encrypted program that is very hard to compromise, retains very little data and purges that data regularly. Please play an actual Hunter.
>Spoiler any OOC discussion.

Happy hunting.
Unless this thread somehow takes off like a rocket, this will be the last un0 thread for the foreseeable future. Towards the end of the thread, please give your feedback in regard to these shorter, limited run RP threads.

It's a fine line, I will admit. It's something I try not to use often but sometimes needs must and all that. Also like how else are you gonna kill a nemean? We couldn't strangle it and drowning takes too long.
>>97275188
It tends to be personal, when trying to learn, because the way it clicks tends to be different for each person. At least when it comes to using it seriously. If it's just accidental, it's like any sort of elemental magic with more malicious intent. You want whatever is troubling you gone. Permanently. It shouldn't come back and fire tends to be the most solid connections between the realms. Considering the emotions one might feel as well; it tends to, unsurprisingly, spring up when someone's doing fire magic. Once you've survived an accidental appearance, it becomes more a matter of recalling the feelings to get a better hold on the connection the caller made. Cross isn't exactly...wrong saying I sound like a thrall but actual research about hellfire is so hard to find. Demons don't give a shit beyond its destruction and warlock are so whiny about how I shouldn't cut them open.

God damn shit fuck. Can I go to one social function without running into a monster? I'm at a damn New Years Party last night and three pale motherfuckers crash it. One's 7 feet tall with a beard half that length. One's a short grubby guy in a suit with more grease than hair. And the third was dressed like a holiday themed stripper, pretty much just wearing christmas ribbons. This wasn't even some ritzy upscale party, just a get together of like 20-ish people. The greasy guy said some shit about "new year, new life for you all" but I didn't get much more because the adrenaline had hit and I was going for a weapon.

Now I'm beat to hell, laying on the couch. I think they were vampires, because I managed to get beard guy by grabbing his beard and pulling it into the fireplace. He went up like a matchstick. A few other hunters were there, we got lucky. Drove the other two off but now we're all beat up and there's two dozen terrified normies from that party looking for answers. One night, that's all I ask for.

Damn that's some shit luck. What happened at your last social function? Also yep, definitely a vampire with how that one died alongside their words. Did he get a drink spilled on?

I honestly can’t disagree with most of this. I’ve had fun with blood bowl though.

Try actually playing TOW, BB, Nucromunda, Mordheim, etc. Any of them would be better than 40gay or Ass of Smegma

What is the point of TOW when WAP exist?
Legit unless you really love dragons and just want to fight dragons using your dragons there is no point in playing TOW
