What happens when two people use it? You can't just ignore that it is going to come up in game. Or I'm dumb as shit and missing an obvious rule on these things but whatever, it's not even the only example of this.

>>97247750Actually bending spacetime is pretty rare in science fiction for FTL. Like even star trek while they are supposedly bending spacetime, it's more of gravity/mass manipulation where they seem to reduce the mass and effectively the inertia of everything within an area, and that lets them exceed the speed of light because they basically change the speed of light in doing so. Star wars though goes fully in on tachyons where entering hyperspace transforms the ship into tachyons, which are particles that can't go lower than the speed of light.Personally I never find bending spacetime to be particularly compelling, and if you want to make ftl an issue I prefer things more like what Half Life does where actual meaningful travel is by changing your direction and going to other dimensions. As those other dimensions are actually nearby, just in a direction you can't normally travel in.
Magic should be rare, mysterious, superstitious. It should take time to use and be exhausting to cast When did fantasy magic and wizards turn in Avatar the Last Airbender shooting fire and lightning out their assholes?
>>97221863>Doesn't work well for tabletop RPGs, or rather requires tremendous effort on GMs side of things. Not really, you can go the Fragged Aeternum route and just have a very soft ritual magic system that pretty much says you can do whatever you want as long as you've know the mechanical effect, did the research to figure out a ritual, spend ritual components, succeed at a ritual roll, and submit yourself to the consequences of whatever arcane force you choose to invoke for the ritual. The metaphysics can be entirely decided by some broad guidelines and however the GM wants to specifically rule those guidelines.
>>97223708Thanks. I needed a laugh.
>>97233587>animeAnime fantasy magic is a direct lineage from tabletop game magic, which is their main introduction to it rather than early literature. So you can blame D&D.

>>97243884It'd be smooth brained to assume that every single quote refers to the exact technology or secret project they're paired with.Like Miriam has a negative quote about teleportation in the Bulk Matter Transporter, but a seemingly positive quote in the Psi Gate. Which is it? Is she for or against teleportation? Given that the Bulk Matter Transporter quote is clearly about transportation, she's against. Who knows what she is talking about with the Psi Gate quote, she may just be talking about technology in general.

>>97247523I have old RPG and RP partners I miss. People who vanished into the online ether. It's a common thing, so you're not alone in missing having great player relationships and great games. The reality of it though is that it's just over. And you have to accept that. But you can also appreciate that you got to enjoy it, and look at the best parts of those experiences and strive to make them a part of how you play games going forward. Most of all, I see one really awesome thing in particular you should take away from this: you can find, and should try to find, games with people that share some of your own interests.

>>97246576No it doesnt. You would have to amputate the pilots legs to make them fit in those legs. The thigh gap is as wide as the pilots shoulders.
>>97245552Because the sculptors at GW are half-assed artists with no understanding of anatomy. The SoB mechs are just a repeat of the Space Marine Centurions from 7th edition just messing up the legs instead of the arms this time.

After about 8 years since I last DM'ed a game, I've been asked to run a session. Unfortunately my books - adnd, 2e, 3e, 3.5, 4e, and 5e are in storage two states away. And i prefer physical copies. Thanks to critical role and the movie DND books have gone up in price which is weird.>4e books are ~10-15$ now. Is it viable to run 4e in 2025? I don't remember hating it and I still remember some home rules to streamline combat to speed it up a touch. Does anyone have suggestions for 1-3lvl adventures or campaign settings? >4e thread I guess
>>97247640>don't approach it with the mindset that it's just like every other edition of the game.Every edition benefits from this. At worst, it staves off the spread of the 3.x rot that led to Main Character Syndrome. At best, it allows for the game to be appreciated entirely on it's merits without the foulness of comparison.>If you aren't prepared for the tactical wargame stuff 4e is designed for, you will probably have a bad timeI'd argue this affects the DM even more than the players, because you can get a lot of mileage out of well honed enemy groups and setpiece battles, even if the enemies are under leveled. Brainless enemies are miserable to experience in 4e.
>>97241883The most overlooked part of Mearls' perfidy.
>>97247720>Every edition benefits from this.Yeah. But in my experience you can run almost every edition like they're fundamentally the same and it'll be fine, except for 4th edition. If you don't respect the differences it has, it tends to fuck things up.
>>97247015>>97247111Hell, they hid an incredibly interesting concept for the Lizardfolk - that they used to have an advanced civilization based on their reverence for their dead creator-god Kecuala, but it was destroyed by a populist uprising under the leadership of the future cult of the god-beast Semuanya, whose shamans have kept the lizardfolk locked in their Stone Age near-bestial state ever since - in an adventure called "Captain Slygo's Treasure" in Dungeon Magazine of all places.
>>97235255>Is it viable to run 4e in 2025? If you have a table that wants to play 4e or you want to run on Discord, yes.If not, you're a 5e player.
