If you could choose the set of core classes (in the PHB/core book and ideally the rest of the classes are designed around them) what would you choose?
They don't have to be identical to their current incarnations.

For me its,

absorbs a lot of the fighter but keeps the independent survivalist schtick.
>Paladin,
Divine warrior with special abilities but no spells
>Rogue,
Sneaky stabby martial, basically as he is now
>Wizard,
>Druid,
>Cleric,
Default to being lightly armoured wandering friar tuck type character, but with options to put on some armour and bonk.

Some kind of religious practitioner, Human

both against inhumans like Elf, Dwarf, Demons.
inhumans are the only ones that can have spellcasting. Their spell casting should be divided between innate stuff and written stuff.
Humans killing the inhumans should be able to loot the written spells. Roll 10s every Day until eligible to learn. Spell tomes could contain upto 1d10 spells.

I hate spell casters so much it's unreal

For years now, I've been trying to work an adventure fantasy game to my own taste; from mechanics I enjoy to inspirations I think are cool.
So of course I am working on a class system that at least references core classes in some regard, as a sort of love letter to their legacy; but the execution is quite different in practice.

To explain all of my plans would take multiple, full-character-limit posts, and hours to properly articulate, and even then there's no guarantee it will even be acknowledged beyond "tldr" or "just play vidya gaem", if at all.

But to answer the thread's topic directly, I have:

>thief has rogue rolled into it, favoring not just sneak attacks and stealing, but being a good "enemy phase" reactive fighter
>wizard is rolled into sorcerer, but some spells are reduced in power or outright removed

The one thing I'll give MtG over YGO is they're much more accepting of proxies. Even casual YGO players look at you like you spitroasted Ann Frank with Adolf Hitler if you bring out a single proxy. It's kind of wild. Not sure what caused that in YGO players specifically.

BX newfag campaign before my proud fighter player left the main adventure. His wizard buddy found some magical short sword in a locked casket which he secretly wanted to keep for himself. The beastmaster and the goblin took notice of the glow however and tried to confront him but the wizard knew his judo. Finally the beastmaster put the wizard in a headlock and the fighter approached them. Instead of going for that magical short sword, the fighter took some valuable pearl off the wizard and the beastmaster immediately released him wanting nothing to do with that. I've lost my shit at that moment and couldn't stop laughing out loud over the internal mess my players engaged in.
P.S. I miss the fighter but unfortunately he doesn't want to interact with two other players anymore. I'm still running a rival adventure party with him in the campaign which causes funny developments. But at some point I don't know whether I am able to keep it up if the main group seeks to face him or we enter the wargaming stage...

Your mistake was thinking LLMs are trained on entire RPG books. They're just glorified Reddit referencing machines. They're trained on forums and articles referencing the rulebooks.
You'd need to hook up the LLM to actual rulebooks and pray it follows the rules.

That's kind of a feature in this regard. Linearity is not always a constant enemy that needs to be defeated at every turn. It can be occasionally (and sparingly) an ally.

Natural caves with only a few chambers and only a few branching paths can be a quick and easy dungeon that can be tackled in less than a full session. They have a nice "stumbled upon" feeling to them that also feels organic, and their shortness/linearity can let you focus on dropping in some situations that you ordinarily wouldn't be able to, like monsters considerably stronger than normal that the players can try tackling relatively fresh and without having to worry about conserving their resources.

Dungeons should come in a variety of styles, and using natural caves as the "quick and nasty" type really suits them.

Yeah 2E will feel a lot more manageable as the GM but players most often feel a little more on rails. Still plenty of options if mix and matching them is your pleasure, but the highs and lows are very reigned in power wise. I'm sure you could still make an absolutely deadweight useless character filled with "flavor" if you felt like but that's up to you. Lorewise you already know its neutered they've been neutering it since and before those games you played even came out. Not a problem at my table

▶What is Kingdom Death?
Kingdom Death is a tabletop miniature brand stared by Adam Poots and operated by himself and his Team that later spun off into a miniature based bored game funded by two very successful Kickstarter campaigns.

▶What is Kingdom Death: Monster?
Monster is a Nightmare Horror cooperative boss battler/miniature hobby game for 1-4 players about hope in a strange world of bizarre monstrosities and perpetually darkness. Players take on the role of survivors that band together to form a settlement, fighting monsters, crafting weapons and gear, and developing their civilization to ensure survival from generation to generation.

The Game is broken up into 3 phases:
1. During your Hunt Phase your band of survivors traverse the world of KD in pursuit of their quarry.
2. After successfully tracking your quarry you will begin the Showdown Phase, where you must fell these horrific creatures in order to acquire precious resources.
3. After the battle, your survivors wander home with loot in hand to begin the Settlement Phase. Arm yourself by developing new weapons and bizarre structures to prepare for next year's hunt.

I could deal with some random schmuck being done in just fine but the star hunter is annoying.

Assuming my memory isn't faulty we once had murder happen, the murderer got caught, and we got the option where they become the undisputed murder king (queen in that case) of the settlement. That was fun. But

Yes the actual target of it is bad, and yes it's just a card flip.
And yes the "add event in x years" is awesome
But the first thing is just a balance thing, like it could be "the lowest XP kills the highest XP, add takes half his xp/split his xp between the other survivors that catch the murder" it can be made fine
and for being a card flip, I see it as a settlement inevitability, it has settlement consequences, even if it's a card flip, it's a thing that can happen and it's how that affects your settlement/story, and what they do about it, it leads to something, it's a storybuilding effect
I would be fine with a card that says "the oldest person over X hunt xp in the settlement, has died of old age", things happen, what does your settlement do about it
I wouldn't be fine with a random event saying "if you are old over X hunt xp you die"

I am reading Dark Lord The Rise of Darth Vader and on the fourth part and it’s just boring now. I like the EU books but this one jus seemed like false advertising, people say it focuses too much on secondary characters but Vader is pretty much the secondary character and I have to slog through boring excerpts about literally who Jedi. I thought it would cover a series of great events early in his career and his philosophy on the dark side but it’s just this plot revolving around these stupid Jedi. Disappointed. What EU media can I read next to not feel disappointed? Or is there just some other fantasy that I am missing out on?
