>>97237435Cause whether he realizes it or not, Nale's still living by the same tired old tropes of the evil twin/rival dichotomy, just that this time it's the old "rivals team up temporarily against a far greater threat". And it makes sense to a degree, Xykon alone is basically way too much for Nale's team by themselves nevermind Redcloak and Oona, and considering he has no personal beef with Elan anymore due to how he can't blame his twin for his current deal it makes sense to work with someone who grasps that Xykon is the bigger threat in the here and now to their respective goals.
>>97237486>working with them openly is the best cover possible. Fighting them just wastes time and resources, and hiding from them would likely fail.except they call his bullshit immediatelysuccessfully lying to them is even more likely to fail than hidingit is possible he will still manage to convince them, but it will be against some really long oddsthe obvious choice is to wait for Roy and Xykon to fight and then act amidst the chaosmaybe Nale feels it will take too long for them to clash, and his tacky makeover is time-limited
>>97237435>>97237486So it's a durkon situation. Will durkon intervene on Nale's behalf on the next page?
>>97237435>>97237850I don't think this is as bad a position for Nale as you're making it out to be. He knows he can't take Xykon on his own, but he also knows that the Order's odds on their own are poor as well (not to mention that they can't afford to waste resources on fighting him, and that's without even knowing about the dragon they just wasted resources killing). The Order also has no reason to assume that his goals deviate from their own, even if he himself is obviously untrustworthy. If Nale frames it right he might be able to get them to agree to something seemingly harmless that ultimately benefits him. This could also just escalate into Haley and Roy attacking before Nale can present his case and Nale retreating to rethink his strategy (assuming he isn't intentionally putting the Order on edge as part of some greater plan, who knows) I guess.
>>97237486>Nale's goal is to break the last gatethat's the task he was given, but whether he actually plans to do it for the guys who barged in and threatened him is still unknown

Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to first-decade, Gygaxian D&D, its faithful modern clones, and content created for use with them. Later editions (2e and newer) should be discussed elsewhere.Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons played as intended by its creators from 1974 to 1983 — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching metaplots and a greater emphasis on player agency. If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about: we'll be happy to help you get started. Writing General: 'festive' editionWelcome to /wg/, the thread for all /tg/ related writing. Whether you're plotting your campaign, trying to come up with a character backstory, or just trying to write some setting fluff, this is the place to post it. You don't even have a campaign, just an idea you want to develop? You're welcome here. While the rest of /tg/ is arguing over monstergirl mating and which way rivers are supposed to flow, we're here to help you turn your thoughts into an actual finished product. As the successor to the Storythreads, we're also open to /tg/ related fanfiction (D&D, Warhammer, Battletech, whatever). In fact, if you've written any vaguely /tg/-related short stories, you can try them out here. >>97236252Oh I had not noticed, thanks. Yeah I guess if you're going for historical accuracy it would be a red flag though modern (post 5) DnD stopped caring about that. Largely as a result of Californian influence, I would assume
>>97235028Hopefully, your local tavern wouldnt effect you much, unless it is a particular old or quirky tavern with some noteworthy characters or history you can include in a game. Just plopping it straight into you game 'as is' might not be a good fit though.Regarding OP's pic, Maybe the DM lacks experience of the world outside their town, of history or of the many, many fantasy genres and settings, or is just unimaginative, so just bases their game on the limited things they know? The majority of people are like this, hence why the publishers target them with OP's pic - it isnt to make a good game, but to make one that sells their product to the biggest market. Stuff like OPs pic is the McDonnalds or Greggs of the world. Doesnt mean you have to serve that to your players, as Good DMs know how to mix up elements than the mass produced shit to make finer offerings. By the way, Merry Christmas. You sound as if you try to include more what some retarded marketing executives choose in a brainstorming meeting though, so I raise a tankard (oldy worldy cup) of mead (oldy worldy drink) to you. Keep up the good work.
