This is a second OSRG, seperate from the main osrg thread, where you CAN talk about 2e, retroclones, and any osr content you want.
This is different than the regular osrg as due to rampant trolling from a handful of bad actors, discussion is impossible.

As in, the video game series?

>>97231255
Yes.
For reasons unknow, it's FUCKHYUUUGE in Japan, and they keep making their own, new installments for past 15 years, if not longer.
Almost all Nip media that is referencing RPG, is always referencing Wizardy, rather than any actual TTRPG. But since Wizardy is, well, Wizardy, it's very easy to think this is either some stuff from old editions of DnD (or MMORPG stuff)

Forgot to mention that there is a DLC for the game, which is started by talking to a lady standing on a pier at night in the starting area (Cassardis). Highly recommend that you do not even speak to her until later in the game. To keep it as spoiler-free as possible, you can talk to her after you have seen a cutscene involving a very large hole and have explored it. Hope this helps! Game is currently $4.79 on Steam.

Oh, sorry, did you want to have a discussion on backgammon? Or did you enter what is clearly a thread about tabletop RPG settings, and then throw a bitch fit because people want to talk about setting stuff for their games? You know exactly how much of an uncreative, unimaginative loser you are, that's why you've spent months coming into the threads to cry about them, Wilbur. Get over it.

Had several campaigns in a setting loosely inspired by Tekumel.

>mankind took to the stars in "seed ships"
>passengers are suspended in cryosleep
>ship AI autonmously searches for inhabitable planets
>purges natives via drones from orbit
>terraforms the planet according to human needs
>installs infrastructure for human utopia

On the campaign world the natives offered more resistance than expected and made the ship crash while it was still in the first phase. Autonomous drones still managed to bomb them into the stone age. Majority of the human cargo was killed in the crash and with the now defunct ship was unable to rebuild a high tech society while it was still being pestered by autonmous planetary defense systems. Games were set at different periods after the arrival. Humanity, AI and Alfarri (natives; sue me) have formed and sometimes intermingled in several different cultures.

This is like word for word 4e's Points of Light/Nentir Vale setting. Even including the zombies since the first 1-30 adventure path was about the demon prince of undeath trying to assassinate/absorb the goddess of death so he could control everything that ever dies.

>It was never directly stated that the Primarch's were clones.
It is literally write in the next editions (before Erda) how Primarchs were created 100% from Emperor's DNA.

>Salamanders were just black guys
Read OP again, "reverse albinos", BLACK-skinned caucasians (european skull and physiognomy).

>The custodes were 100% nothing because there were only four lines
Still, they were 100% males, if you want females you have the Sisters of Silence.

>The Emperor's motivations were always shady
Ok, at least back then he was not the "CEO of daddy issues".

>The Imperium were literally breeding with Eldar in the RT rulebook.
Ok, eldars are "human-like", you can have the "honorary humans" category, but at least the Imperium still was xenophobic in a cool way, without all the 50/50 Schrödinger's human supremacism of the current edition.

The Nemean Lion. I like the fact its a huge ass lion with nigh invulnerable skin and is intelligent. Moreso that Grappler Baki has become the baseline of what I consider "mundane" strength in a fantasy setting so pic related would be how I'd imagine the Nemean Lion to be.

That's unfortunately, but they are trying and if you gently nudge them towards actually reading the GMing section in their system of choice, they will hopefully learn eventually. GMing is fucking hard and even if you are well versed in the rules, it is still something you can only get good at through lots of practice and lots of fucking up.

I remember having to fuck up half a dozen campaigns that either fizzled or crashed and burned before I ran a campaign so good that it kept going for 2 straight years.

If someone doesn't have the ability to read the rules on their own then they are not cut out to GM

Cool. You'll fit right in on this board.
>>
>>97231280
Look preference is based on the game and the premise. No point in doing Furry mutants in a Mad Max-themed game, and no point doing tumormen in a TMNT game. If you're going to come here, you need to know the barest details of what playing a TTRPG is actually like.

MECTech is my system for mech-based combat.

Why make an entire thread?
>Have enough content and questions to warrant it
>Hope to get enough criticism/feedback to gain the inspiration to finish it within the next day or so
>Main goal is just to talk about design philosophy with people
>The board is slow

Feel free to participate with questions or additions to any element of my system, or answers to questions that I ask. If you have your own design questions for TTRPGs, I'd be happy to give my 2 cents as well.

First topic presented for review will be my take on general actions and action economy which I think is moderately unique
>>
I don't really have any mecha based pictures so I'll just be using whatever

Player Turns
>Player turns consist of Full Actions, Quick Actions, Reactions, Free Actions
>Full/Quick/Free actions are about what you'd expect.

>Further separated into Delayed and Instant reactions
>Can be performed by anyone involved in the current Sequence(of events) as long as there's a triggering action
>Instant reactions happen BEFORE the triggering event concludes, while delayed reactions happen AFTER the triggering event
>Each additional reaction in the same Sequence has a +2 to the number you have to roll in order for it to be successful
>Only 1 of 5 pilot classes eventually gain the ability to have 2 reactions per turn instead of one
>Multiple Reaction options can be taken at once and performed simultaneously, but ALL options need to be successful or none are

Yeah, Ewoks aren't cute cuddly teddybears. They're tribal hunterns that share their environment with a lot of dangerous wildlife, so they wouldn't survive if weren't fearsome fighters. But they're still a bunch of primitives armed with bows and arrows going against guys in full body armor and and science fiction beam guns. That should have been an incredibly one-sided fight.
The difference in tech level between Ewoks and stormtroopers is far higher than the difference between 1800s European nations and African tribes, and you can see how well that ended for the Africans.

the problem with underworld is it's not sure what it wants to be and I think there is a reason for that

it feels like they just made a 45 minute asajj ventress animated special (mostly to explain how she's alive and/or test the waters to see if she's marketable) (I can make a solid argument for this if anyone is interested) but then realised they could just chuck in a cad bane story, cut it up, and sell it as a tales series
ventress was basically all over the marketing and the main selling point for underworld, cad bane feels like an afterthought
