>>97216865I just use them as regular orcs but with bows. Meaning I move them forward, maybe shoot once and then charge with them or allow them to be charged. If you want proper shooting, I'd go with goblin archers or artillery. But I've noticed people tend to forget about them because they asume they're useless and don't even bother charging them or shooting at them. They cast a spell or shoot them with artillery once and that's it. So the advantage is they're staying pretty healthy until the late game. They're decent melee fighters, so when the oponent has injured units in later turns, they're a pretty good option to charge into things and finish them off. That's just the way I see it and bear in mind thinking strategically is almost anathema while playing orcs because fuck you, I'm going to charge into that unit and there's nothing you can do about it
>>97216948>implying the alternative of fielding a massive gunline and artillery spam to force you to come to them isn't equally cancerousDwarfs are gonna have to field something to compensate for their basically nonexistent movement. I feel like this edition has alot of objectively bad things about it and is absolutely where the alot of worst qualities of current editions showed up. But I feel like I prefer playing this edition compared to a lot of previous editions and 10th edition. Its a weird transitional period where there's still a lot of the old units that haven't been legended yet while still having the fucking Primaris lot. Its strange but I don't feel like I'm missing out on much staying on this edition and playing with friends casually instead of going back to playing the current edition.
>>97186108I like that primaris marines came out of it.
>>97212864Pretty much opinion exactly. It was pretty funny though how fast the excitement over 8th (oh thank god, 7th is dead at last!) turned to disappointment as it rapidly turned into its own form of debacle.
I remembering 1000pts of Eldar tabling 3000 pts of nids. I remember Eldar tabling Orks turn 1, fellow took out 100s of models, and didn't play a single one. We had a statewide tourney and the top 25 were all Eldar.
>>97213029Seconding a request for that
>>97186108There's an 8th Edition?! I stopped following the sales driven Churn in the 90s, have done my own thing and am I'm still enjoying playing 3rd-4th edition even today. Lets hope GW doesnt keep shitting out even more editions every couple of years, right? Imagine how sad you would have to be to just keep buying countless even shittier rules books just because the game company says you have to, to continue to play the game you already own and enjoy, right? LOL.
What are your experiences with in-game moral and ethical dilemmas and players saying, "At the climax of our journey, we turn around and leave"?I feel as though a lot of GMs' attempts at in-game moral and ethical dilemmas are unwittingly sabotaged by adventure inertia and players' desire to avoid saying, "At the climax of our journey, we turn around and leave."The way I usually see it structured, a bunch of antagonists stir up trouble. The PCs agree to help the locals. The party investigates some dangerous place or situation. Then, at the very end of the adventure, the PCs see that the antagonists have some vaguely justifiable reason for causing trouble. The above structure is perfectly fine (and indeed, I have used it many times myself as a GM), but where things get janky is when the antagonists sincerely plea for the PCs to just turn around and leave, and the GM earnestly expects this to be an option that should be seriously taken into consideration.I have never, ever seen this happen, for understandable reasons. Very, very few players want to say, "At the climax of our journey, we turn around and leave." It is much more common for the players and their PCs either work out a compromise with major concessions from the antagonists, beat up the antagonists, or both (i.e. beat up, restrain, work out compromise and major concessions from position of power).(Continued.)
>>97200663>What are your experiences with in-game moral and ethical dilemmas and players saying, "At the climax of our journey, we turn around and leave"?Here is the problem. You're presenting with the options of:1. Continue to play the game2. End the game early with an unsatisfactory ending. Also arguably undo all their progressLet's ignore that most people playing D&D don't really come here to deal with your philosophy and ethics 101 moral dilemmas. What you want to do is give them two (or more) options that allow the story to still keep going. Or if it's the end of the story - to choose how it ends. But the key to both of those it that it needs to be satisfying. And this is the problem with the "we turn around and leave" idea. Leaving is giving up. It's quitting. And your players didn't show up to quit. So think of a solution that's not "okay we quit" because that's never going to be the choice they make.

>>97201023>Orcs don't think its immoral to eat peopleOrcs do know that what they're doing is immoral, they just believe the gods would get bored and destroy the world if immoral shit stopped happening all the time. This is why they burn down orphanages, kick puppies, and slaughter nuns. The gods will it. And this is also why orcs will only speak words of love in hushed whispers beneath the roof of their hovel, if they did it out under the open sky (where the gods live) the gods would surely punish the orcs for daring to yearn for a life beyond simple marauding.Orcs are like that because they believe the gods hate them.

>>97216663I kind of thought that 2 was more the "normal" score, and 3 was more "minimum of training".Doublechecking, you're right, silver swords are a rare prize - a Githyanki Knight of 7th level or higher, in AD&D, whilst high-level Githwarriors and mid-ranked gish & knights might carry either Greatswords +1 or Longswords +2, So, yes, the Silver Sword should definitely be stripped from the githwarrior and made something for githyanki knights (as a unit), heroes and lords, while standard githwarriors just wield great weapons.Appreciate you checking out the math!>>97216835>>97216883I'm not too familiar with the Scalykind Empires of the Forgotten Realms personally, but that certainly looks like a solid starting concept to me!

Colours I have in mind are a forest/olive-y green with bone-white as the accent colour for helmets etc.Fluff I've got for them so far is they believe in returning the Eldar to their glory days, but unlike Biel-Tan who think the best approach is to kill everyone else, they're instead trying to build a sort of mini-empire in some corner of the galaxy for them and their friends to fuck off to and pretend everything else isn't happening, with their Craftworld parked in orbit above a maiden world. They're trying to convince other Craftworlds to join them, and also sending occasional piratical raids to find and take resources/treasures from lesser races to keep in their "empire". They're very chummy with Exodites. With the exception of the "requisition" raids, they're generally not openly aggressive but are VERY territorial about their domain and won't tolerate trespassers.
Sup GROG, me and my friend had our first game of 40K 4th Edition today. >>97141194Actually, I don't get why that anon chose Rogue class. Ruffian subclass and dual wielding is obviously so you can use Daishō as a Rogue, but why not pick a Fighter in the first place?
>>97216797Just a combination of Jin Sakai giving me a rogue vibe and Ruffiian having access to the loadout. It was mostly vibes-based. I wasn't really considering, like, the wholeness of Jin's mechanics and trying to fit them into a build. I just look at Ghost of Tsushima and think "oh yeah, rogue for sure," and dual-wield rogues are pretty good, and Ruffian can grab the relevant weapons and armor, so there we go. That was pretty much the extent of my reasoning.By comparison, when I look at somebody like For Honor's Kensei, I think fighter. I think it's just the beefier armor and the bigger weapon (and the fact that he's not in a game with stealth gameplay). Kensei also wields a nodachi and wears o-yoroi armor, both of which are actually already statted in 2e and are an advanced weapon and heavy armor respectively, so fighter would be a pretty natural fit for him now that I think about it. Again, I'm not like, trying to translate Kensei's moveset into a D&D-type game, but if I wanted to make a character that basically looked like Kensei and fought with the weapon he uses, that'd probably be how I did it. You could totally make Jin as a fighter too, if you wanted. No class is going to 100% replicate a character from outside of these kinds of class-based systems (see the thousand different ways people have statted Conan, or Gandalf). Really those posts were just an exercise in seeing how easy it would be to make a PC with at least a passing resemblance to the first couple samurai characters I could think of using existing character options, and it turned out to be very easy.
