No surprise, Disney Adults are overwhelmingly female so of course they aren't going to play some nerdy care game.

I can't think of anything more deranged than an male Disney adult who buys, plays and strategizes about a collectible card game with child's cartoon shit on it

Price of being a contrarian.
>>
>>96469838
i like to think of the ranger as being the the rural counterpart to rogue's urban utility
perhaps being not great at fighting should be the point, i mean the rogue isn't really suppose to be great at fighting except specific subclasses so same should apply for them

i think people just have less imagination for utility necessary on in the wilderness compared to just placing a bunch of locks and traps everywhere

applying nature magic to them seems like an attempt to make it more exciting for them to be someone who is really good at harvesting herbs, taming animals, or having really good senses
>>
>>96474144
>rogue isn't really suppose to be great at fighting except specific subclasses
Backstab multiplier/Sneak Attack bonus lets rogue do pretty decent damage with relatively little setup as long as the target isn't immune to the ability
>>
>>96474144
Personally I think that'd be a fine approach, but it also sort of raises the question of why Ranger would need to be its own class instead of a Rogue subclass or variant.

There isn't really a strict need to have two mundane skill specialist classes if sneak attacks are still a flavorful fit for both.

The likelihood of two d12s matching is actually exactly the same as a d12 matching a d4. You're essentially saying that only the larger die matters.
>>
>>96472482
>>96467709
What if, instead, you rolled the two dice per the races, and impregnation occurred if either die was a 1?
(Or if either was a 2 or less, depending on the odds you're looking for. Or if both were 2/3/4 or less, if you want the feeling of the dice cooperating.)
>>
>>96470921
>im asking just to get more material to read
I think the problem is this. You tend to overthink too much. Try to sit down and just start rolling/playing and see where things go and relax.
Maybe things are a bit slow at first but then they can unexpectedly take an interesting turn later on.
I use Labyrinthus because it has many tables and oracles and usually if I'm at a dead end, or don't know how to progress I just use a table for something and roll with it, but I never stress over a specific topic. If something takes too long to decide, I just move on. Things going a bit slow? Random Quest from a NPC. Exploration is going nowhere? I use the tarots to create a new situation which the character is involved with.
>>
>>96470921
>>96474025
Something like this. Don't hold so rigidly to the table, build the encounter. Start building recurring characters, so that you aren't just meeting "some guy" on the road, it's "that guy who came into town a few nights ago and bought drinks for everyone at the tavern". If a bandit gets away, keep him in mind, maybe you'll meet again.
Basically, start roleplaying and bottom-up worldbuilding, it brings the game to life in ways strict adherence to a dice table just can't.
>>
>>96474235
>Basically, start roleplaying and bottom-up worldbuilding
Exactly. Which is basicaly what Trevor does in S1 of Me, Myself & Die and that's why it's the only suggested season in the OP.
S1 is the best because he just makes shit up on the fly and doesn't know what will happen, meanwhile later seasons are more "scripted" in the sense that he has a sort of storyline in mind, but that loses the charm S1 had

Shadowrun 4/5/6e.

Agility
Body
Reaction
Strength

Charisma
Intuition
Logic
Willpower

Splits up Intelligence and Dexterity from being god stats, undoes the vagueness about Wisdom by splitting it between Willpower and Intuition. Also makes Luck (Edge) and Magic its own ability rating so that being intelligent or charismatic - two things that are already absurdly good in the setting - doesn't also give you wizard powers.

Thanks for the constructive argumentation, it's fascinating how anons give such wildly opposite ideas.
Just to be clear, yes Dex+Int is best choice for skilled works.
But if I only use Agility, Agility+Int would become skilled-work and only 3 stats would lead to easy ninja agile, smart & crafty.
...unless I then use Agility/Dexterity+Awareness/Perception to cover a ninja who invested in Agility+Awareness but lack the Int to craft or disarm stuff.

>Willpower+Vitality works fine for someone lifting something heavy
My magic system really override Strength and Willpower is to be a character defining stat you can chose not to invest in, not a Laziness stat.
Sames goes for using Willpower along Intelligence to see things, it would force to put points in Willpower just in case.
I must reveal that I intend to use Willpower as a bad thing due to magic or fast-talking a Willpower build lacking Int or charisma.
I might look for a whole new attribute name.

>>96467421

>Care to go in more depth why separating Dex & Agility is important for you?
Different guy here, but I like the idea of separating the two because they can have wildly different applications.
Dexterity is fine motor, and Agility is Gross motor. Folding a paper crane and vaulting over a barrier without losing any speed or momentum are very different skills.
>>
>>96465923
Fire: Acts as strength, passion, charisma
Earth: Acts as willpower, resistance, and stubborn
Metal: Acts as logic and precision, intellect
Water: Acts as empathy, perception, adaptation
Wood: Acts as stealth, agility, and deception

Done. I've solved attributes using the most based elemental system.
>>
World War D uses 10/11 Attributes , each contributing to three factors of your character. With most units having randomized stat gains this should help each stat feel impactful.

Strength: Physical Damage, Stun Reel, Carrying Capacity
Agility: Reactive Damage Bonus, Crit Reel, Running Movement Spatial
Dexterity: Critical Damage Bonus, Dodge Chance, Skirmish Movement
Endurance: Focus Damage Bonus, Hit Point Capacity, Defensive Matrix Bonus
Intelligence: Technical Damage Bonus, Affliction Reel, Skill Point Capacity
Perception: Dynamic Damage, Direct Hit Reel , Range Bonus Spatial
Magic: Magical Damage, Spirit Points Capacity, MAGA bonus
Wisdom: Exploitative Damage Bonus, Control Area Spatial, Support Magic Tax (SMT)
Charisma: Co-op Damage Bonus, Co-op Reel, Smirk Reel
Luck: Bonus Reel, Antiffliction Reel, Force Fate points ( like a reroll but used preemptively for gamespeed)
Finally there is Reason which is only for human characters with agency. Your in game faction will populate this stat one of several ways.
>>
>>96473275
The anon you answer: that is/was my original take.
But both are extremely close and kinda become redundant if the true distinction is carried by the combination with something else.
>Folding a paper crane

Dexterity+Vitality

What would you is too many rules or mechanics to add to a game before it goes from rules light to rules heavy? I recently discovered a simple d6 game that I enjoy but it doesn't have much in the way of abilities or skills for the characters to choose from during the session. Its mostly a roll attribute plus modifier style game.

Once you start having to make the distinction between 'general rules vs specific rules' then I'd say it starts to become rules heavy. As in, if you have a rule that works generally across the system, but then find yourself writing in edge cases in which different rules apply.
