Two features of my setting are the heavy presence of animistic elements and souls being composites of many aspects/aggregates that instead of singular unchanging essences, with changes on the soul composition and "charge" leading to changes on the mind and physical body and vice versaThose lead to many magical realm consequencesOne is that if a person have a truly strong bond with an animal companion they will develop an almost telepathic connection with the animal, being able to intuit what the animal is feeling/thinking, where it is and its condition; and when properly cultivate they can even sense true the animal senses and develop some of the animal capabilities themselvesEven after the animal die, it's soul will remain around the person it bonded with, allowing for it, with the proper rites, to be summon in and ethereal form, channeled and so on until some suitable vessel become available near byOnce a proper body is available, the soul can choose to reborn and in it's new life will be instinctively drowned to it's former companion and will have an intuitive understanding of them, even if it doesn't have it's past life memories fully unlocked80% of the time the animal companion will be reborn as the same species as it was before, 15% of the time it will be a similar enough species (a cat being reborn as a lynx, or a dog as a wolf), but 5% of the times it can be reborn as a sapient species like a human and depending how strong was the ego aspect/aggregate and how it end up interacting with the new human aspects/aggregates, it can result from a human with an animal like personality all the way to a full furry that will have an emotional drive to reconnect with it's former companion

I already live in the pacific north west and have to ignore these retards on a regular basis, don't want more of that in my wind down tv. >star wars has hippy stuff I know, but if there's more extended djembe circle shit and noble child savages I might not make it to S2.

>>97191702My opinion is that TFA did a passably good job of reminding people of the things they liked about the OT. I liked it just fine the first time I saw it (it was clearly not perfect, but it was enjoyable) but it doesn’t stand up to examination at all, and it ultimately is a bad movie, even if it isn’t completely intolerable. If you watch it, do yourself a favor and watch it only once.TLJ, I was actively mad before I eve finished the movie. Full stop, it’s a bad movie in several ways, dead dove, do not eat.RoS was the first starwars movie of my lifetime that I did not watch in theaters, so this impression is from me watching it on a 13 inch Laptop screen. It isn’t good, but it’s goofy enough to be enjoyable if I pretend it’s a fan parody. It is not at all required viewing, but it’s the only sequel trilogy movie I would watch a second time.

Stop buying miniatures.
Honestly miniatures half of why I like this game nowadays. Collecting them and painting them. I have over 500. it helps make up for my failing imagination. When I was a kid I made paper miniatures in Microsoft Publisher, reversing them and adding tabs so that they could be slotted into bases, and printing them all out on cardstock. i still have a few. They only work at certain perspectives, though, so a real miniature is better. It was quite fun to make them though.
>>97191690Who can actually afford minatures in this economy?
>>97191761Regarding those crazy Tom Hanks cardboard minis:https://www.blogofholding.com/?p=743#more-743
>>97191690My problem are the portage who print their minis with FDM printers and the cope about it. “My minis are just as good as resin printed or cast or injection molded minis. They don’t look like they were made in Minecraft with all their layer lines. You’re just jealous that I was able to print a whole army and only spend like 10 cents a mini.” Good god man, have some pride. If you’re too cheap to buy minis, print some paper standees. This halfway point is just embarrassing.
>>97193056I agree, except I think FDM is fine for giants, terrain, and mounts. Like, printing a full-sized dragon or buildings with resin is so wasteful. 28mm FDM minis look retarded. You can't even drybrush them without them looking like shit.

>>97192376For most of these systems the RAW perception rules are based off the idea that there's something that might conceivably be blocking your sight, and also assumes when you are making the check that you're not just seeing a figure off in the distance but are able to see it clearly enough to know what it is and possibly even what it has on its body. From there, you then need to get into the semantics of "being an apex predator literally looking down upon a land where anything within your territory should fear you" vs "a group of individuals who will want to ignore some things, run from other things, and attack or kill other things" are going to have very different priority structures over what is essentially the DC to see a small dot moving super far away vs being close enough to see the whites of their eyes.tl;dr, use normal Look/Perception rules for the people, multiply the distances by like, 10 for the monster, especially if it's coming down from above.
>>97190382on rereading, found that PF1 has what I want> If you are using wings and you fail a Fly check by 5 or more, you plummet to the ground, taking the appropriate falling damage.btw, looking at manticores, they are awful at fighting in the air. >Fly –3 (clumsy) - Every time it takes damage and needs to make that DC 10 fly check not to descend, if it rolls <9, it plummets for failing by 5 or more. Still gets to roll another skill attempt vs. another DC10 to negate the falling damage I think that might be the only creature that you can reliably shoot out of the sky like that without any called shots or anything.
>>97190533And, just like that, all of a sudden, just fucking instantly... we all can see laid bare why PF1e is better than 3.5.

Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to first-decade, Gygaxian D&D, its faithful modern clones, and content created for use with them. Later editions (2e and newer) should be discussed elsewhere.Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons played as intended by its creators from 1974 to 1983 — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching metaplots and a greater emphasis on player agency. If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about: we'll be happy to help you get started. >>97192031>>97192598Thanks. I think it turned out well. I'll probably add it into the dungeon somewhere in place of a "minor magical item" result. My players are really bad about playing Magic Users. They brought one down to the dungeon with them to visit a Sphinx they had passed by. He prepped Read Magic as his only spell for the day (he's been on a total of two delves and hasn't hit second level). They were posed with the Sphinx's riddle, but answered incorrectly and were all blasted with scorching sand for their efforts. Grey Elf uses a house rule that I like (at my group voted to adopt) where Magic Users can use Read Magic as a class ability rather than as a prepared spell. It takes a full ten minute turn to use in this way.
>>97192891Depends on the hex I reckon. I wouldn't place residences on every hex, obviously. A more populated area may have that many, though.
>>97192891It's going to vary considerably depending on where you're sourcing the information to splice into your elf game.I just asked the robots "how many people per squar mile in medieval europe country side" and this is what it came up with;>France (14th Century): Upwards of 100 people/sq. mile>Germany: Around 90 people/sq. mile.>British Isles: Around 40 people/sq. mile (more in the south).>Cumberland (England, 1377): As low as 13 people/sq. mile in some areas. Just out of curiosity, why do you ask?I would pick some numbers that sound reasonable for low, medium and high density areas in your game world. Maybe come up with a dice mechanic to make the numbers swing up or down slightly within their population density area.
>>97192891>>97193088You can also check the Domain Management sections of Rules Cyclopedia/BECMI. They have some loose guidelines to follow if you want to keep things TRVE KVLT
>>97192891IIRC the more fertile part-kingdoms of modern France had an average population density of 200/square mile in the high middle ages (i.e. pre-Plague). Conservatively that would be one village of ~30 households per 1-mile hex, but you have to factor in that that estimated density figure includes both towns and less populated areas like forests.
