Moloch's Fun Park Edition>What is Trench Crusade? An alternate weird history 28mm/32mm tabletop skirmish game still in a pre-release playtesting phase but with the full release slated for this year. Based on the art and lore of Mike Franchina, whose illustrations you may have seen floating around on /tg/ for a several years now, and designed by Tuomas Pirinen, one of the original creators of Mordheim. It's grimdark, it's visceral, it's awesome, and it's very Blanchitsu.>What Trench Crusade is notTC not an excuse for you to discuss IRL religion, history that didn't occur in the game, culture war shit, or discord bullshit on /tg/. Keep it on topic.>What's the QRD on the background? The Knights Templar turned heretic and opened the Gates of Hell when they took Jerusalem during the First Crusade. Over 800 years later the war is still ongoing as technology has developed to a pseudo diesel-punk WW1 standard and a third of Humanity has sided with the Infernal Princes.>How do I get started? All the files are free online:https://www.trenchcrusade.com/rules/Comment too long. >>97191580By 1099, the Christian kingdoms controlled more than half of the Peninsula, so between that, the gates opening & the Iron Sultanate, Al-Andalus should have collapsed sooner than c.XIII.Spain ought to have 2 lists, one of fanatics, another of mobile, lightly armoured medium range infantry. The former should favour a cheap melee-oriented style, slow and without armour, only the elite units having access to standard armour at best, with the ability to remove blood counters easily, capirotes for everyone & can hire Witch Burners cheaply. The latter should be medium range, decent melee, lightly armoured though not as much, standard armour is more readily available. No long range whatsoever. Any mercenaries BUT Witch Burners.Units:-Dogs- cheap, unarmoured. More available to the non-fanatics. -1 melee dice of opponent if engaging alongside other units.-Tercio- average mook, can equip Polearms, Swords, Muskets, Blunderbusses, Shotguns, Troop Flag. No armour, standard an option but costlier than usual. Defense bonus when standing in groups larger than 4, (including Diestros&Knights).-Diestro- swordsman, good offence but no armour, reduces the melee dice of whoever attacks him. Carries Misericordia.-Nazareno- cheap, either melee oriented or shit short range, no armour, improves with blood counters, bonus versus demons. Can carry Flamethrowers.-Doctor- removes INFECTION markers in a large area by doubling the number of such markers on one nearby unit.-Knight of Calatrava/Alcantara/St.James- armour, 0-2, can be built for medium range or decent melee, depending on the flavour gets bonuses vs non-Christians, or hell mooks, or hell elites.-Inquisitor- 0-1, best gear in the team, flexible to build. Provides bonus against other Christian factions (false converts?).Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>97191875I have the opposite feeling, I feel reinvigorated like with the pre-6th 40k lore. And very much appreciate the small scale of the game, it lends itself well to the feeling of fog of war and behind the lines actions. Could grow a bit but wouldn't take it past the 20 models per side mark.
>>97193427I'm not trying to be a hater but I'm also not sold either. I'd like to see how the game is after a few years, to see if it matures well.
>>97190110Are there any RPG's with a dice system like trench crusades? 2d6 + modifier dice dropping/adding the highest, getting 7+ is a really fun base mechanic. You get the feeling of something extreme with a handful of dice, but it doesn't get to the point where you are chucking annoying amounts.
I'm having a happy 12/12 day. Time to play real MtG(tm). Cheers to happy memories and forgetting the state of current Mtg for a while.
>>97190640>Dreadnought. Win %s are not that high because decks are running hate specifically for DreadnoughtSwords to Plowshares would be ran in any deck with white regardless of whether or not dreadnought would be played. Smother in black, Artifact hate in the sideboard of RGW and bound in the main of blue anyways regardless of whether or not dreadnought was even in the game. Most things that hate dreadnought are good for tons of other strategies so it's not like Dreadnought is meaningfully influencing deck construction. Just running the strongest interaction available to your color in the format as would have been done anyways is enough to keep dreadnought in check. So no. It really hasn't influenced deckbuilding for anything but say burn or goblins which are notoriously weak against creatures with 12+ toughness and trample jammed into play on turn 2-3.
>>97186269?? What's the matter with you?
>>97190887Pricing of a card should not determine it's legality. The drawback of Diamond is having enough lands in your deck to pitch to it, and it being a dead draw later in the game, similar to needing a sufficient blue count for FoW in Legacy or Vintage, and it being a dead card in hand otherwise. Mana acceleration allows fair strategies - Grow, Flippi, Parfait etc.
>>97190840Elves is the 7th or 8th most played deck, less than half the presence of the actual most played decks, and doesn't have particularly better performances than the decks above it. That's tier two by any sensible metric.382 matches in a single matchup is a decent sample size. 382 across all decks is not. ~25 against the most played decks, and less against the rest is not a good sample, and you're commenting about the number of green boxes. Those green boxes are a small sample size, they all have very wide percentages for a reason. In any case, I wouldn't advocate for more Enchantress or Replenish bans because Parallax bans would bring those decks down a step if they are a step too good.>>97190901I'm talking maindeck Naturalise, not Swords. Smother over other black removal is a format affecting thing. Dreadnought makes it pretty much unquestionably right over Terror, Snuff Out, or Vendetta, remove Dreadnought and that might not be the case.

>>97193249Well, what actually changes because of it? The LC and FS go back to being separate entities and they're the exact same as they were before the war, it's like none of the entire FC plot happened in the first place.Either they stick together and become a complete roadblock for the clans(at least in lyran space) or the war puts one of them in such a disastrous situation that the lyrans or davions end up dissolving entirely, that's how the FC could have resulted in something substantial and interesting.
>>97193270I like the Abominations and there being fuckton of smaller (marauder) states you could mess around with, creating your own fluff and stuffs

>>97193373They don't see serious territorial losses until the mid 3130's and that's over half a century after the fedcom civil war. The jihad and dark age have far more right to claim responsibility for the lyrans falling apart than the civil war.

>>97193501There are actually several reasons for FW-hate. First and foremost is simple jealousy: poorfags who resented people able to afford cool resin toys and cool hardback campaign books while they were trying to scrounge up a basic army from car boot sale finds and ebay rescues. Then you have the dumb faggots who simply didn't want to learn or think about more stuff. On top of that, you have the delusional balancefags: people who had managed to meme themselves into believing 40K is Fair And Balanced and that all FW products are super OP(spoiler alert: nah). There's also the people who have this deranged aversion to resin and think you'll get gigacancer if you even pick up a resin miniature without full HAZMAT gear. But I suppose you could just boil it all down to >some people are fucking idiots

>>97193656>So don't say "half and half" in your July 2025 post when you know there will be 7 sets in 2026And if 4/7 in 2027 are uw will you give a concession in edhg?
>>97193686Sets are planned 2 years in advance, but that doesn't mean the schedule is immutable. 2026 had the plan of releasing 6 sets and 3 of them were UB, then they said "hey, Star Trek's already done or whatever, throw it in 2026" or similar. So to 2026 it went.
>>97193690By that logic, of all sets released they have overwhelmingly been UW so the next decade can be UB to balance it out. Nosewatersayimg its"approx 5050" isn't disproven by a 4-3 split. Of all the things to criticize him for I think that statement is mostly accurate. Of course if 2027 has more ub than real sets again then maybe id call him a liar

Oathmark kingdom drabble;Lle'r Corynod (Pronunciation note; the double L in Welsh is pronounced "ch") - "Place of Spiders", is a pastiche of Celtic and Tolkienian sensibilities, with a dash of Moorcock. This demense was established by a legendary sorceror-tyrant named "Loppe" (which also means "Spider" in Old English) who brought his people into exile with him from across The Sorrowing Sea, "Not by Currach or tall ship, but by art alone, riding upon a darkling cloud" to paraphrase the Lebor Gabála Érenn.Loppe forced treaties on the Parliament of Spiders, and settled the rivers and plains. In the three hundred and thirty third year of his reign, Loppe suddenly abdicated the throne, under an inauspicious omen, and changed himself into a gigantic spider; mating with the Queen of spiders (Spider monarchy is constitutional; which is why they also have a parliament) in the Sylvan wood, and being devoured by her. From this union many great and terrible spiders and abominations were spawned.Pwyll left behind him ten sons begat on Elven women; the eldest was most like his father; a natural sorceror blessed with the might of elder days, and was thought fated to rule. The second eldest, was called Pwyll, bereft of magic, but most ruthless of all.He murdered his nine brothers under his own roof, violating sacred hospitality and committing an arch-fratricide that led to civil war, widespread oathbreaking and general kinslaying ensued across the land. Before he died, his eldest pronounced a curse on Pwyll; that first he would go mad, and thereafter would die a threefold death. But Pwyll the accursed was the only heir of the blood remaining, and Elves are peculiar creatures who put great stock in ancient tradition and protocol; Pwyll absorbed the resistant holdings of his brothers one by one, and intensified the slaving operations that drove whole Goblin clans from the wild interior, to labour in mines and fields under constant threat of being spider food.
>>97189625>Pwyll left behind himThat should read "Loppe left behind him"But actually I could have ballsed that up far harder.
>>97189605As you may have guessed, this is inspired by Dune. However, I turned the Space and Fantasy parts (Spacing Guild and CHOAM on one hand, Imperial nobility and Bene Gesserit on the other) into independent state factions that collaborate for a common goal. One faction lives entirely in space and one entirely on Earth, so there's little to no competition for resources or power.
>>97183732The answer is to hire Minotaurs as overseers. Wealthy white slave owners usually had another slave do all the whipping.
>>97189301All the beats flow well. My only issue is how small this is. Is this all limited to Earth? Cause unless they are and there is an insanely limited number of people/low replacement rates, it makes no sense. The first space nation, to me, should number in the 100 millions at minimum, with maybe 10 mil for fighting forces, a million at least.
Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to first-decade, Gygaxian D&D, its faithful modern clones, and content created for use with them. Later editions (2e and newer) should be discussed elsewhere.Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons played as intended by its creators from 1974 to 1983 — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching metaplots and a greater emphasis on player agency. If you are new to the OSR, welcome! >>97193494It's bizarre how bad most of these Artpunk games are. I own physical copies of a few of them: Mork Bork, Forbidden Psalm, Mothership and some weird thing about bikers from hell called Hell Knight. After reading through them and playing a bit of FP and Mothership, it's painfully obvious that the people involved don't really know how games work. Obviously the low hanging fruit of cringe stylistic decisions (Hork Gork spends an entire page to tell you that swinging a femur deals 1d4 damage, for instance) is ripe for criticism, but the games themselves are just fucking bad. They are weird vanity projects by people who don't actually play games.I get the appeal of a system that's rules-lite beyond what we here would consider to be the bare minimum, things like Black Hack or what have you. But those games are actually designed to be played. The artpunk side of things is just vapid.>Dude, check it out, it's an entire "dungeon" that fits onto a post-it note!
