>>96498396I can't really go a few pages without finding a sorcery spell intended to be used as a weapon, a curse, an illusion meant to deceive, etc.
>>96498396As a reminder, 100% of Void Circle necromancy spells are written by Deathlords, 90% of Labyrinth Circle necromancy spells are written by Deathlords and 90% of the rest are written by First Age Solars high on the Great Curse crazy enough to undergo necromantic initiation despite their very comfortable life, with only a very small fraction being written by hekatonkhire, nephwracks, and young First Age Solars who, again, would've been crazy enough to go necromancy despite already having very comfortable lives.Of the shadowlands circle necromancy a large portion is likely going to have been made by the Deathlords, because their is no salinan working equivalent for necromancy. You need direct tutoring and empowerment to get into it, and most of that comes from the established and exceptionally evil great powers of the Underworld who would prefer the power of necromancy be kept firmly under their control, since it's pretty specialized in fucking over and controlling their own forces.Necromancy doesn't need to be fundamentally evil when necromancers have historically been bad enough to explain the spell list's bias.
>>96498462Point is, Necromancy sucks and is boring and gay and lame.
>>96498478You're not wrong, but if someone wants to homebrew spells that make it less one-note and ass I say let them, so long as balance and themes are maintained otherwise.

>>96497344I'm only a hobbyist level Romaboo, but I tend to avoid secondary sources like the plague. Everyone has an agenda (even the primary sources typically do, but at least that's only one agenda you have to account for, not two or three). I mostly study Greco-Roman theology and mythology as part of my comparative studies (I'm really more of a holistic Euroboo) and for RPG inspiration, so that's your Homer, Hesiod, Ovid and Apollodorus and their sort. Herodotus is a really good source of inspiration to populate a sword and sandal RPG setting, since he describes all sorts of less well known ethnic groups. For specifics on Roman history, I think Livy is considered the go-to guy, but I could be wrong. For opinions on western European barbarians, Caesar, Tacitus and the anything on the Cimbrian War comes to mind.If you're a visual sort of guy, then the Osprey books are the ones with the consistently most appealing illustrations I've found. Nothing beats a trip to the museum and glyptotheque though.Hope this helps, and don't hesitate to ask any questions. Maybe Romaboos of higher power levels can also add their two sesterces.

>>96493426Sorry anon, didn't notice this until today.Good GM's are typically fairly comprehensive in their posts. It goes without saying that the more detail the better. Who they're looking for, what the setting is, background. Whatever. It's usually a waste of time to try your luck on someone who could only muster maybe two paragraphs at best.Unless the pitch was very solid I ignored most posts that didn't have a google form. If they rely solely on comments or direct messages the GM is probably going off of a first come first serve basis and it's a big waste of time. Also if there's a form, there's usually even more detail on how things are going to be in it.That's kind of it for me honestly. Since this isn't 5E there's thankfully a lot less trash to sift through because people tend to (but not always) care more about the game and how it's run.It will take time and you still have to be kind of lucky, but I hope you get into a game that's fun for you eventually.

/tg/, I'm designing a campaign for my group. The campaign consists from three acts. As a whole, they cover levels from 1 to 20.What happens in the first act is immaterial for this thread. In the very beginning of the second act, however, they will meet the big villain of the campaign, who decides that they're going to be a threat to his master plan and immediately kills them all right at the end of a gruelling dungeon. The player characters then go to Valhalla, meet not!Odin and then return to life with a divine quest. Half of the second act will involve fulfilling this quest to pay not!Odin back for their resurrection. The other half involves revenge against the villain. Now, obviously if they just reveal themselves, they'd just be killed again. So they'll be gently suggested to assume false identities and infiltrate the villain's massive army of mercenaries in order to foil his plan from the inside. By the end of the act, the villain's army will be gone, his personal power extinguished, and then he'll die as the final boss of the act. That's the idea. However, I keep thinking about how it'll actually go. I have 7-9 dungeons in mind for the second act. That is a lot of sessions spent under secret identities, while everyone believes that they're dead. While the undercover arc could potentially be interesting, I'm also seeing the potential for it to be very exhausting to actually go through.Should I just pre-emptively cut the "undercover" part to just 1 or 2 dungeons? It's going to be pretty difficult to change them on the fly, if I see that this story is not working.

Depends on where the psychologist in question works, it's a pretty varied field. >>96498339If you think that soneone with a fairly normal, not super special job and education being on /tg/ is as likely as seeing the King of England here, you need to seriously rethink your life and your attitude to it.>>96498346AI might replace all jobs eventually, but I'm not terribly worried about it happening to mine anytime soon. At the moment psychologists are in high demand, I think everywhere in the Western world. Not necessarily people with a bachelor's degree in psychology, mind you, but licensed clinical psychologists don't have to struggle with employment.
The spicier the better. I'll start to get the ball rolling: MTG, DnD and Warhammer are actually good for the hobby. They get new people started in this hobby and they keep the trend chasers contained and away from the rest of the hobby.Appealing to the normie masses is a necessary evil in order to keep what you love afloat. Even if it comes with the negative baggage of doing so.Generals are good for /tg/.
>>96498020>t. retarded nogames faggot,
RPG is a weird hobby perfectly fit for people who never finish anything. The "game" tries to be a lot of things at the same time (and one poor bastard "GM" is responsible to "balance" the impossible plates): a satisfying story with arcs and climaxes for every protagonist/player; a balanced game with challenges and interesting rewards; a simulation of a fictional world with its own lore and canon that grows organically with realistic and interesting consequences for each player action; a ruleset that mechanizes fairly every possible situation within a modular system that uses dice to keep things fair and still "game-ish"; a hobby within a hobby of props-making that includes stuff like miniatures, maps, gizmos and arts; a improv theather experience with acting, voicing and emotion display; a metagame of "dominance" group dynamics through scheduling, deciding what system, what world, when is the session and who's coming; and plenty other stuff.Clearly, RPG tries to be a lot of things, without ever commiting to the best version possible of one of those things, that would require to drop the rest. Its not a game, a novel, a play, an art group, an writer's group, a acting group, and most certainly not the first thing sane people would choose to do with 6 hours of freetime each week. The worst, most unsatisfying waste of time ever created. Only pretentious n'eer-do-wells who never finish what they start nor commit seriously to any arts and crafts would engage so deeply with a pointless hobby. We keep playing just because after all this time, the sunk cost is too big -- its a hobby designed to entrap the greatest, most pedantic, arrogant and pretentious lards.
>>96496769Partially agree: if people don't pay attention, it may be because you're boring. But looking at your phone is still a choice, even if you're bored. Help the guy improve, and consider leaving if he doesn't.
>>96487291The set standart of 7 dice should be questioned and it were for the better, if D14s, D16s and D18s were commonly available. Also, the most important thing about dice is quick readibility and all those artsy dice are nice to look at, but ultimatively not very useful.

>>96496990We were doing Paranoia way back in the day and rolled characters the original way (1d10 each stat, you get one reroll).I rolled a complete garbage of a character with Moxie, agility and Endurance of 1, Chutzpah of 2 and 2/3 on rest. His only ok stat was Power at 6 (precognition).Reta-R-DED was a morbidly obese shithead with extra chromosomes, so Friend Computer naturally made him squad leader and immediately upped him to ORANGE.He did pretty good. Whenever the party had to go somewhere Reta had pretense to hang back and "catch up later". I also abused his precognition constantly, buffing away suspicion by pointing out how retarded he is. Very fun and still the most obnoxiously horrible person I've since played to this day.Reta died (the sixth time) when our hygiene officer executed him as a communist (too stupid to notice someone had swapped his ID card with that of a convicted commie)

>>96498240Here’s why the Baneblade poster wants a raw 3D scan with no edits for 3D modeling and conversion:>1. It keeps the real-world scale and proportions intact. Every component, from the cannon to the tracks, is >accurately represented in terms of size and placement. Many reworked models mess with these proportions, >changing how parts like the engine stacks or sponsons fit together, which can throw off the overall feel.>2. The scan captures all the fine details, like wiring, guards, and gunners, that are easy to lose in a reworked >model. When you mess with a model, you risk changing small but important features that affect the look and >function of the build. With a raw scan, all those minute details are preserved, giving you a solid foundation to >build from.>3.
