>>96835381The art on City and Cradle are both from EW paintings, and Frazier's diamond is also from an unofficial EW painting that was donated by him - along with an original Sapphire - for this year's EW NA because Wizards refuse to support paintings anymore, going so far as to even deny Card Titan's request to commission originals out of their own pocket. I could only find pic related and a dark blurry picture taken by Tom Basketball, who won the painting, so I upscaled and edited a photo of a printed playmat for the version you see in my card. Comparing the two now I wonder if I should tone down the blue. The Giancola diamond I believe is from the LotR TCG and depicts the Arkenstone. I tried to find original art for the Cradle but struggled to do so, and I liked the City art from the beginning.

>>96835381Sorry, I forgot to reply to the first part of your post. It's not something that Wizards would permit, but then again we don't need Wizards permission to do anything; the event is run as proxy friendly at a non WPN store, and at request of the TO I aimed to keep the promos in line with the feel of the original art for each card, but make them obviously proxies. I get a guy in China to print them for about 10 cents each and the backs are plain white too, so there's no confusion.Pic related is Frazier presenting the MWI player that won Vintage with his painting.

Never post direct links to the archive anywhere in plain text.If you're wondering where to start:- The Basic Set covers everything, including a lot of optional rules you probably won't use.- A genre guide can be found in the archive, under Unofficial/GURPSgen. It tells you what extra books and articles you may find useful for many common genres.- How To Be a GURPS GM is a good read even for players.- GCS (gurpscharactersheet.com) is an excellent character-builder software, with page references to all the books and the option to export to both Foundry and Fantasy Grounds.Thread question: Is Reach important or is it all about how you use it?

You have something here that works.>picking stronger base powers makes the spawn stronger and harder to control/birthOh I like it, I like it a lot. Its that choice of risk vs reward, do you go for a stronger power set as base but risk your body and mind or do you play it safe but accept being weaker. How about some other tattoos or runes that you can get that do things such as delay or slow growth or even (if you like the power and want to retain it) attempt to bind the spawn and imprison it on your belly? You could also have levels of effectiveness but the stronger the effect the more specialised the runes are, so a weak binding might work for all spawns but wouldn't be very effective but a stronger one might need to be tailored to aspects of the type, and this continues right to the strongest that are tailored to that exact spawn. It means you have to invest time in researching as an inscription tailored to work on Spawn of Chtoms will be ineffective on a Horror of the Carthaginians. The sane could apply to the birth inscribings too.Ot adds pressure as there's now more to do than just go in, guns and powers blazing, and fight the cultists.

How come Shogi hasn't become more popular in the West when it's quite literally Chess but better without the "just another chess variant" debuff? Two of the most boring aspects of chess are the fixed start and half of the game being a memory puzzle. Shogi's reintroduction of pieces directly fixes later and indirectly lessens the shitness of the former. Fischer Random was a nice attempt, and although it's by far the best Chess variant there is no real need for it when Shogi already exists.
>>96834488>Two of the most boring aspects of chess are the fixed start and half of the game being a memory puzzle.[citation needed]
>>96834488seething about "memory puzzles" is the most braindead shit imaginable, literally every competitive game requires the same type of technical mastery that chess does if you want to actually be good at them
>>96834488An attempt was made.It was called Navia Drapt.Players bought starter sets then could buy booster boxes to expand their armies. Each unit was unique, moved in different ways, had special abilities, and could perform a "drapt" action which caused it to move differently or activated another ability. There was an anime in the works (teaser trailer's on youtube)It died fuggen quick. >>96832017If you're comfortable with SW and the system is flexible enough then why not just go for it. >>96832017I use a tablet with a graph paper app thingy, which I make dungeons/maps, and write short summaries of on the side, I find that it works decently well. I think Swade is flexible enough that you can make it as simple as you want. I still like the dice system that it uses, even if exploding can be a bit.. explody. I like creating and fleshing out characters, which Swade also does really well. And it's easy and fast to make some gooks to fight, the more complex monster you can look up decently fast. But I hate looking up rules, or checking some abilities. I tend to run in fantasy/historical stuff, and having a core rulebook, fantasy rulebook, and maybe some previous version of Greco-Roman / Musketeer / whatever supplement gets really tedious to look up things.B/X feel a lot more built around a party of multiple characters, and you need to tweak some stuff to make it work with less. And you don't really get a lot of character customization, which is fine. I like B/X a lot, and it got a lot of easy neat system for a bunch of iconic things. But I think you kinda need to make a party unless you want to import other systems to it

The one video I would really recommend from him was about designing interesting boss fights. It mostly came down to having a general idea of how long a boss will live based on how tough it is, and coming up with cool things it can do every turn that make the fight feel swingy and dramatic.
I liked his videos when I first came across them. I do still think that some of them cover useful topics. But the more I watched (and especially after catching some livestreams) I began to realize he's a rather narcissistic blowhard who likes the sound of his own voice. He will ramble and pontificate on shit he has no real authority on. He held "lectures" about bands and movies he likes, but it's not like he has any special insight or knowledge about any of it. He's just talking about stuff he likes but treats it like he's granting the audience the privilege of sharing his knowledge. He also deletes/blocks even mild criticism and disagreement and brags about doing so, treating the people disagreeing with him as if they're weird and wrong for having a different opinion or viewpoint. He just wants his parasocially addicted audience to give him unending praise and never engage with anything outside of that

Corvus Belli, the Spanish firm behind the miniature wargames Infinity and Warcrow, has recently opened a new programme to give fans who want to make Infinity or Warcrow videos, and even fan animations, unprecedented access to all the media assets they could possibly dream of - including full color 3D models of its newest miniatures. It's a markedly different strategy from industry heavyweight Games Workshop, which keeps a tight lid on information about upcoming releases, and has a standing ban against any kind of fan-made animation.Despite the sometimes tumultuous relationship between GW and its fans, there's no shortage of content creators making painting tutorials, lore explainers, battle reports, tactics guides, and for Warhammer 40k - and Corvus Belli is hoping to promote a similar level of enthusiasm from its fandom. The Corvus Creator Nest is a new incubator programme designed to support content creators who want to cover Infinity or Warcrow, whether they're experienced players or just discovering the games for the first time, veteran video makers or only getting started. There's practical support available, including equipment loans and tuition. For the recently released Next Wave Infinity sub-faction, CB has handed over a treasure trove of lore, game rules, art, model photographs, and most impressive of all, full color 3D scans of every miniature in the release."If you know how to use Blender, or Unreal, or any 3D program, Corvus Belli is sharing with you the assets to make 3D animation", says Carlos 'Bostria' Llauger, a game designer and one of the company's main spokespeople. He adds: "Games Workshop won't allow you even to dream about this in the following four decades".
