What do you gives think about creating a method inspired on hindu gods? I was considering this for my Guardian. I created two:One has six "modes" and the ability to switch between them, the limitation being that you can't use more than one at a time. Over time, the user would gain more "faces" and the ability to use more modes simultaneously. That being said, even stage 10 only allows 2 modes at once. This was based on a god with six faces from the hindu mythos.Another one is essentially inspired in a god with two different interpretations. One would be related to the soul, benevolence and protection. The other would be relatad to war and description. I think the latter is more palatable to anons, but the first was definitely more interesting to make. If I balance it right, I think it will have a positive reception.

>>96837292I think the fact that the only thing people mention about the system is the magic says everything you need to know. I get non-vancian magic is mindblowing to DnDonlies, but this is a magic system that's existed in other games for years.
>>96830198Unimaginative crisis. Nobody tries something different, everyone copies DnD. Not fantasy, not movies, just DnD.
>>96837402Probably because the vast majority of modern DnD players get 99.9% of their idea of what the Fantasy genre is from DnD itself. They don't read, watch, or play anything that isn't DnD or something a single step removed from the kind of fantasy it does.
>>96837325About what I expected, D&D brainrot runs deepAnd 3.5/pathfinder already has fixes in the form of Book of 9 Swords, Path of War and Spheres of MightAny game delivering martials as just auto attack bots should be immediately discarded
>>96837453Like it's hard to make dnd martials fun.Too many abilities & spells give advantage. Make them a bonus or remove them. Make martials get advantage if they attack some way they haven't done before (improv. Belt as whip, with a farmer's spear, let yourself be stabbed to grapple the guy)If you want more.. Idk, make some class get more actions? Let martials (not casters) describe hitting high, strike medium or swipe low on front, back or side. Monster manual can point out weakness points the GM picks from.

However, you're not very likely to get useful answers there because the thread wasn't really created to discuss games, just to troll the real /osrg/.
>>96830719>Could it be any more obvious that this general was created by that one sperg and while he has his troll version of /osrg/ up he no longer cares about this one?You lads are always welcome back in the real /osrg/ while he's not there if you want to come hang out. It's funny really, I remember that you'd get shit for liking something like, say, Shadowdark, but no one ever told you not to talk about it over there. Which means this thread doesn't need to exist and is just a divide & conquer attempt.
>>96837444>no one ever told you not to talk about it over thereJust because saying it's shit was almost always enough to get people to stop talking about it, unlike 2e, which is an obsession of one particular psychotic individual who's been trying to use it to torment /osrg/ for years at this point.>Which means this thread doesn't need to exist and is just a divide & conquer attempt.I disagree. There's definitely multiple games that are off-topic on /osrg/ but deserve a place where they can be discussed. Shadowdark, Mork Borg, Cairn, Knave, Mauritter, and so on. So /nsrg/ does serve a purpose.
Does it piss anyone else off how people think the Guard is just disposable chaff? They're not the most elite forces the Imperium has but they're hardly cannon fodder, in fact I'd say they're the most elite common infantry of any faction in the setting. Now, I know what you're thinking. "How can Guardsmen be as elite as Aspect Warriors/Crisis Suits/Ork Nobs?" But that's not the average soldier of those factions. A Guardsmen isn't going to be fighting 1 to 1 versus an Aspect Warrior or a Crisis Suit or an Ork Nob, they're going to be fighting Guardians, Firewarriors, and Boyz instead, the common chaff of those factions. Likewise with all the other factions as well.
>>96837340>Er... no?I suggest you read the 3e codex, pg. 58 to 60. The Imperials reached the Tau core worlds until the resistance became too much and the reinforcements they were promised had not yet arrived. Then Kryptman ordered everyone back (to fight the Tyranids) and a hasty peace was negotiated.
>>96835886I'm sure some guard look like that. there's a million different IG regiments (literally) and no two are alike
>>96837352>Are modern militaries crippled by Army, Navy and Air Force being separate branches and even within the Army having different regiments working together, rather than each regiment having everything they might ever need?Modern military branches cooperate and use combined arm doctrines, attaching companies to fighting forces to mix and match into a complete detachment that is prepared for most eventualities. The Imperium's military does not. Guilliman designed it that way on purpose to make sure that if an Armored Regiment goes traitor, it won't have any infantry support because all the infantry are in the infantry regiments somewhere else. It also won't have air support, or orbital support of course. >Vast majority of rebellions are not Chaos related.Guilliman didn't give a shit about secular rebellions. Read the fucking lore nogames.
>>96837488>Modern military branches cooperate and use combined arm doctrinesAs does the Imperial Guard. Imperial Guard codex contains units from infantry, artillery and armoured regiments, abhuman regiments, Officio Prefectum, Tempestus Scions, Adeptus Mechanicus, Imperial Navy, Adeptus Astra Telepathica, etc. all operating together. Regiments from different worlds are trained using the same manual to ensure that even if regiments come from different cultures, there's a unified framework that allows them to work together as a single army. What the separation ensures is that because they all have to cooperate, rarely does one person have full command of everything necessary to wage war (on the Imperium). Instead of one lord commanding all the ships, land forces and logistics necessary, there would need to be a larger conspiracy among several members all commanding a portion of that force.>Guilliman didn't give a shit about secular rebellions.Which would be weird considering during the Heresy, on top of all the Chaos corrupted forces, there were large numbers of opportunistic individuals seizing the moment to carve a small empire of their own across the galaxy. Rogue traders and lords in command of regions of space with armies loyal to them before the Imperium.>Read the fucking lore nogames.Strong words for someone who doesn't know basic codex lore.

>>96837496Please no. We don't need to make Lunars more one-note than they already are.
>>96837463>>96837496Usually when I think of lunars it is from the full moon point of view rather than Changing Moons or No Moon pretty much never pop up on reflecting the competence of the lunars other than being able to shapeshift. It's weird, but every time lunars are talked about it's usually in a combat situation. No one really talks about a lunar being able to deceive heaven by subsuming the fate of another. Which they could do in 2e, but too much effort when you can kill better.
>>96837422>Like the one poster calling Conan a lunar can work. It annoys me because i'd rather give that to solars.Caste book dawn outright copied the frost giant daughter for Yurgen origins. And despite technically sharing the "anti civilization" theme of Howard's works, it is only surface level.Lunars are anachoprimitivists, compared to Howard's "stop being two faced opportunist snakes".Lunars actually have more in common with the degenerate savages that Kull and Conan fight.

>>96837384I gave you an answer, the Haren from Weird Wizard. I ran the first bits of “Rage of the Goblin King.”
I actually did something like this in a game.Instead of goblins, the land was being attacked by fey-descended creatures who resembled short humanoid rabbit-ish creatures. They lived in burrows and had a matriarchal structure, with each warhost having a large foul tempered queen. They were pretty desructive and regarded as pests until their burrow got large enough, after which they would form armies and sack towns.I described them like they were fur-covered goblins but in truth I could only picture them as Max from Sam & Max.
>>96833101My druid PC actually got their arm ripped off by a rabbit demon a few months ago. They've since grown a magical wooden arm. We were never able to completely eradicate the demon infestation, a few lesser demon rabbits got away and our DM implied that while we stopped the growth for a year or two, the problem will just come back, maybe even worse. The only time our party wasn't able to outright defeat the monster/completely fulfill our contract.
