>He knew this day could come and if he didn't prepare for it but putting money aside for legal issue then fuck him.

How can you make such assumptions? Legal fights can easily drag over years, so asking for money is never a bad thing and his reserves might only last so long..
>>
>>96736146
>Honestly, allowing him to take the matter into a court by getting behind him to shoulder the initial legal costs might actually be the best case scenario to set a precedent against GW.

This. If this is settled with some kind of deal, behind the scenes, GW (their specialized lawyers ofc) will make it a win for them.

But even if he loses, it might give other creators some valuable insight on what exactly is problematic to sculpt, and what is not, because GW will have to deliver a detailed list what exactly is wrong with which of Ghamaks sculps in order for the judge to even attempt to understand the situation.

But then when he wins he gets all of that back and makes bank off the backs of people who already supported him.
Tipical Sicilian.

Jokes aside, about >>96736146, it really is a shot in the dark.
I'm browsing through recent article #2598 (on which the entire thing is standing) cases in the same court and hell, the fact alone that GW sells physical minis in stores and Ghamak sells files to be then printed by another completely different process could very easily be determined as the fact that the products are intended for two different markets and be ground enough to entirely dismiss the case in a complely judicially fair and unimpeachable way.

That would be a hilarious "Please base all your 3D-sculpting enterprises in Sicily, we have a precedent and will have your back" turn of event.

On the other hand, GW then could pivot to have a tiny section for stls on their website (useless shit for basing or you know, those "Battlefield Trophies" bits) so that they can "rightfully" claim the same market.
But I wouldn't put them past being jewy enough that they wouldn't put anything digital up because the margins would be lower, even if that would make it easier for them to squash small-time sculptors.

Ignore the retarded samefagging OP shill above, he doesn't know jack shit about what he's talking about
>Why is there so little visual difference between 30K and 40K
The main reason is John Blanche being the main Horus Heresy concept artist in 2002-2003. He mixed the art of the card game and Index Astartes and added his trademark sepia gothic style to it. Then in 2004, Black Library's Visions of Heresy became the series bible that the novels and game are based on.

In insight, Blanche's art was anachronic and didn't properly match the idea of the early 30k Imperium being a golden age, so later artists deviated from it (like Neil Robert's Prospero being closer to the original card game than Blanche's version). But the "damage" was already done

Good morning, saars edition.

In the previous thread we have determined:
- "Secret Hitler", a social game that is a spin-off of popular "Mafia", is still the best way to RP as Hitler. It is, however, best played in meatspace, and you may find it difficult to convince your apolitical or liberal friends to play a game where the rules, due to random distribution of roles like in Mafia, may require them to play as Hitler.
- Call of Cthulhu is probably the second best fit - early XX century Vienna is a very fitting place for Gothic horror, and, of course, Hitler wouldn't be out of place there - but it will be young, naive, bright-eyed artist Hitler, a very different character from the dictator demonized by propaganda non-stop for the last 80 years (young Adolf wasn't even particularly antisemitic and had Jewish friends).

Any other suggestions, gen/tg/lemen?

if anything it's more skill intensive unless you're playing 960 or something. Of course the player with largest vocabulary and understanding of linguistics (so they can make better guesses at something being a word) has the advantage but it's different every time and not just "oh i memorized a play from this position teehee"

You can win Scrabble by memorizing words. In fact, there's an American guy who plays in tournaments in other languages like French or German and all he does is memorize the dictionary. He doesn't speak a lick of French or German yet he has won prizes. Same would apply to that retard's game.

Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to TSR-era D&D, derived systems, and compatible content.

Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons as played in the game's first decade — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching meta-plots and a greater emphasis on player agency.

If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about: we'll be happy to help you get started.

Thanks, anon. So you're saying you'd appreciate it if the random encounters tables would be attached (or presented again) along with each settlement?
Withj settlements, I plan to present a setting-specific random encounter table, but with wandering monsters table, they cover larger areas, such as sub-regions, regions, and countries, etc.

Rumours are the same way, as well.

With regards to procedures, I'm torn if I should present it at the beginning, at the end or at the beginning of the crawl content section.

No-to-low-prep 0DND+grayhawk continued this friday. The pcs went into the necromancers dungeon, cleverly triggered a net trap with the use of a rock and managed to fight their way through two groups of bug men with minimal damage taken (2 of the 3 pc had but 1 hit point to start with :D) third fight proved too much then a fleeing foe managed to get away and alert back up. Players wanted to run but the doors behind them had closed as per rules and they couldn't get out so they were slaughtered.

We rolled new characters (a paladin, a dwarf fighter and a magic user) this time in a nother corner of the map. Coming across a pond they tried fishing but giant crabs drove them away. They however found a village near a wizards tower and helped the village with a pest toad problem. We ended the session there.

It's weird that odnd has this reputation of being slow and clumsy but I have found the rules thus far are pretty elegant and fast to play especially combat. Looking forward to adding weapon classes from chainmail in the next session to add some crunch. Rolled the dungeon like an hour beforehand. Haven't tried completely winging a dungeon at the table yet probably something you can do with a generator.

>It's weird that odnd has this reputation of being slow and clumsy
Yeah, I have no idea where people get that idea, but it's strangely common about all old D&D editions. I'd hazard a guess that it's the notion of progress applied retroactively -- it's old, therefore it must be crude and poorly designed because we know so much more now. (Except that, judging by modern design trends, we've forgotten a lot more than we've learned)

I think that's a product of people getting filtered by it's layout. No one calls adnd slow and clunky even if they do think it's more complex than they'd like to play.

Semi related via long term games. Does/has anyone here run an open table at the FLGS? Was it good? Did you find any problems pitching to the local wildlife?

What is /tg/ opinion on Chtulhu Dark? Anyone tried it?
I have to run a one shot for some friends, 3 of which are women (who in my experience are not really able to follow more than 2 rules of an Rpg if they are not already into rpgs) so the narrative focus of cthulhu dark is excellent.
The lack of a wound/harm systems is kinda offputting, but I think I can improvise something.
Does anybody have experiences/tips/resources/forbidden knowledge to share?

D&D predates WOTC
>>

I know that, you jackass. The last good version of D&D was the Rules Cyclopedia.
WOTC has made hash of it several times over with 3 or 5 editions, depending on how you count.

>>96735668
>making sure the action in his books hews close enough to the D&D rules of the day
It's not a waste of a thread, it's an opportunity for the reverse verisimilitude argument: rather than focusing on rules accurately depicting the setting, how are you supposed to write a setting around such blatantly gamist and simplified rules (this is also true about 5e)?
>>96735568
Good idea, 3.5e was the last edition where generating a fictional scenario in a world where the rules are mostly accurate was feasible without writing a LitJRPG.
>>
>>96735558
I don't play D&D, but what exactly is the whole point of editions? This is what I've vaguely gleaned from threads here over the years:
>1e - the original but limited
>2e - no idea, nobody ever mentions it
>3e - the one most people knew so stuck with it
>4e - an attempt to revolutionise 3e
>5e - it's just 3e again but people are stubborn and stick with 3e?
>all the 0.5e's - no idea, retconning of the edition they're the .5 of?

Curseborne is the newest Onyx Path Publishing TTRPG on dark urban fantasy genre. It's about being unapologetic monsters in a world where being monstrous is the least of your worries. In Curseborne, you play as Accursed, descendants of monstrous Lineages lurking in a modern world that closely resembles our own. You rebel against the ancient feuds between these entwined families, as well as against the web of curses that bind you, while fending off inhuman antagonists
seeking to claim — or reclaim — your power.

Good morning lads

Pulling my own head off here. Can't find a website that I've shared here before.

Basically it's a UK garage caster. His "shop" is a blogspot with PDF links.

Nothing dodgy, but all I can remember is he sells a mixture of metal and resin, I swear some of it was Oldhammer inspired. Which is my interest.

But the things I definitely remember him selling are like "Fantasy Football dwarf with chainsaw" and like Fantasy Football dwarfs inspired by various superheroes like Batman, Iron Man. Not want I want myself but they were kind of tacky enough to stick in my head.

The sculpts were fairly primitive.

Why did they get so steamed about the whole thing, fighting slavery is like 80% of the plot hooks in a fantasy game. There were entire prestige classes and campaigns built around that.

So they freed their halfling slaves, on top of course having Cheliax get their ass kicked by all their distant colonies one of which should end up like Haiti realistically. They have "forced" the halflings into contracts as workers, basically doing a sharecropping thing which of course the shitlibs in Seattle can't comprehend many did it because it was their only option.

Dunno if the contracts binds their souls or not, be funny if it did. But yeah Cheliax "got rid" of slavery. Whole world did somehow, it's weird. Like the whimpering, crying mewls of some faggot freelancers influenced the world or something.

You bring up a good point though. They probably will never speak of the fact that almost all gnolls were slavers again. Just like how they scrubbed clean that their primary goddesses main doctrine included indoctrinating children.

Yeah Cheliax basically switched from slavery to modern contract slavery, which contradicts the idea that depicting slavery endorses it (unless they like the modern stuff). I suppose they could have wanted to use it to virtue signal against modern slavery, but I haven't seen anything implying that they're moving in that direction.

Before I start I want to say this isn't a cultivation-themed game, fuck that.
I want to run a game set in (basically) Mythic China with all the bullshit that comes with that: Evil eunuchs, tyrannical emperors, seductive court ladies, rebellious peasants, and the party roaming the world as wandering heroes who are constantly stirring up shit.
What do I have to keep in mind to make things feel 'authentic'? I only have wuxia movies to go on, to be honest, and existing systems like Weapons of the Gods seem way too complicated to use.

A wise anon once pointed out that if you manage to implement the Chinese cultural concept of face (面子, miànzǐ) right, you may very well have (Western) dragons and kobolds instead of a xia and pearl-jade beauties, but the game would already feel Chinese.
You would need a willing suspension of Western manners and morals because this is the ancient Chinese (and East Asian) art of making a big deal out of the most unimportant shit. *kills you over a disrespectful glance*

There's a selection of tropes and phrases that can be found in wuxia too in there, then again one would have to know what they're looking at.

>supernatural demigods that can fight off mobs of mortals single-handedly
That's literally what the Kung Fu warriors do in Wuxia stories. There are charms that let you srand atop trees or run along small wires. There's charms that will let you read by touching the ink on a parchment. That's basically the power level of a wuxia warrior.

Wuxia has a lot of emphasis on interpersonal relationships. Being torn between love and duty is classic. Meeting as children, forgetting the encounter, and meeting again as rivals-turned-potential-lovers is also classic.

Some anon posted this guide to the jianghu and wulin a long time ago, I pass it on to you.

Also, Wandering Sword is a great wuxia vidya. Absolutely worth playing and perfectly captures the feel of the genre.
