just moved to pittsburgh. what are some good local game stores in this city?
>>
>>96756128
Why would anyone here care if your mom is being transported through Pittsburgh? And what does that have to do with FLGS/LGS?
>>
>>96756128
Don't live there, but I've moved a bit for work so I'll just give you the criteria I've had. Find out which ones support the game(s) you play, find out when that is, show up, meet people, get a feel for the group, stop going if you don't like them or too many are unbearable. You can't tell much about the online groups for stores as some people overly try to dominate the online, but are shunned IRL. Generic catch-all boardgame nights are a toss up in my experience.
>>
>>96756128
If only there was some sort of search engine where you could type in "tabletop game stores in Pittsburgh" instead of asking an international forum with about 12 people on it on the assumption that there's someone there in the same city as you.

Why are modern TTRPG players like this

Apologies for sperging out but I have had to deal with these sorts of people for almost half my life now.

I'm 19 and many fellow TTRPG fans that I know in-person were raised by millenials who really seethed about being made fun of for trigger warnings and safe spaces, so presumably they were simultaneously taught that those things aren't a big deal but that only evil "STUPID" (they really like using this insult against people who disagree with them, even though we both went to a school for gifted children, but hate when you make fun of people who actually have intellectual disabilities, even if not referring to a specific individual) people dislike trigger warnings/safe spaces, so they can just write off any criticism by saying "you're probably right-wing"/"why is this a big deal".

If it's not a big deal, then why do you have to include it in the first chapter of your book? If it's not a big deal, why does your in-person college club (the point of TTRPG clubs, whether at college or at game stores, is to be able to play games without the prerequisite of being friends with every single person present, since friendship is not transitive. I'm not here to make friends with fellow students and then maybe maybe maybe play a game, I'm here to find games first and foremost, and maybe be your friend if I like the game) have to mention being safe and inclusive in the publicly facing resources page on the official university website, and have an entire discord channel for safety tools?
>>
I mean, I can see what anon is talking about in the cases of massive exceedingly in detail rape and child sexual slavery and those kinds of things. I wouldnt be weirded out if my dm introduces a bad guy who rapes people, but I would be somewhat concerned if my dm went on to make every bad guy in the setting be a rapist and describe the rapes in detail while he has one hand under the table.
>>
>>96754626
Answer is simple on all fronts: because tabletop gaming is a sort of hobby that operates on table-by-table basis, but industry wants to enforce some wide reaching standard.
>>

>*crickets*
>>
>>96754626
If it's a big deal, why are people around you able to play without bitching about it?

>time scale of three scenes
This is the first thing that jumps out at me. Essence uses pure round/scene/session/story time scales, rather than multiples of them, for pretty much everything other than Master Physician Technique. This can jam up the works with some of the time scale manipulating mechanics attached to other charms, and though I don't think any exist for this specific thing right now it could become more of an issue if you went on to make something like an Instant Treatment Methodology that reduced the time scale on a medical venture. Future proofing would say put it either down to one scene or up to one session.

>increase the size of a Battle Group by 1
Typically battle group isn't capitalised, but that's fine. I would phrase this as 'restore a battlegroup's numbers to good health and fortitude' to be more clear and avoid strange phrasing - it might be the case that the battle group has recently shrunk due to losses in combat, but those losses were due to half of them being mind controlled into the enemy's army who subsequently ran away, for example.

>Do you feel like it's too strong, or too weak?
I feel like it's too weak right now. I would put it down to one scene, and I would have it restore all of a battlegroup's lost numbers rather than just bumping it back up by one. This is essentially creating a new type of venture, but at a one scene time scale it's a venture that can be equally difficult to summoning a powerful army-obliterating demon or eliminating an army's logistical issues and rousing new recruits such that it might inflate to great sizes.
>>
>>96757598
>False, as evidenced by the existence of gunzosha armor and other mass-produced artifacts.
Relics of a lost age. Irreplaceable. And, on top of that, there are only dozens even in Lookshy. They are not mass produced. You can look at the other 'mass produced' artifact, the Brass Legionnaire, to find out what 'mass production' is in Exalted 3e - a cautionary tale of madmen obsessed with repeating the same design to no benefit. It's not mass production, it's just handcrafting the same thing over and over again.

>Artillery does about the same damage as a warstrider weapon
Except it doesn't and you're just clutching at straws of 'oh it's close enough' and 'ah but evocations' and you forget that your claim is that 3e Solars can, with Essence 5 Solar charms only, do everything Essence 6+ Metropolis charms can be easily extrapolated to be doing.

>Making warstriders in a reasonable time frame is, indeed, a Solar charm.
It's also an Alchemical charm, but we're not talking about 'making warstriders' we're talking about 'being Legendary Size', which is a different thing, as I've pointed out already.

No, you can't just say 'artifacts can do it' as your gotcha moment. Solars are not artifacts.
>>
>>96757618
>They are not mass produced.
They were, as were other artifacts like lightning ballistas, implosion bows, and so on. As Arms of the Chosen says, the infrastructure of old allowed them to make such creations in batches; the crafter that made the Brass Legionnaires did them in five distinct legions. The capacity to make them exists if a Solar crafter and their circle has the will to do so.
Well, can you find an example of something you feel to be particularly out of scope beyond the most mundane facet of the Muncipal charms themselves being very large? Many of them are simple things like "heating a city" or "zapping rats with lightning", which aren't exactly something you need a Essence 5 charm as a Solar to arrange for your own city.
>>
>>96757598
>Sometimes I feel like the only charms people read are combat charms, which is very sad. Solars have such potential but some people only gravitate towards Dawn combos and how they compare to other splats.
And it's all irrelevant in the ambush meta lol

So something like:
The exalt helps men overcome grievous injuries. Through a venture with three obstacles and a timescale of a scene you restore a battle group's numbers to what they were in good health and fortitude.

Any money you spend on floor tiles would be better spend on actual building, walls, platforms, or just plasticard, which affect gameplay and are visually more interesting.

Not to mention that likely an XPS board with some plasticard here and there would weight less.

AS OF NOW. I’m writing very detailed entries with almost all of Kaoru’s thoughts and information on each character, so I’ll update it when I know these characters better. Plus, this is also good training for future writefags.

Itsuki and the Fujiwara Senki should go next, and the Census Club should go after that.

Since today is going to be a shit one, and I have chances of passing out:
I tweaked a bit how Archetypes handle out their free perks to make it somewhat more balanced.
Removed Raging River and Scorched Earth, Raging River is built in all Idolons.
Reworked most items so most of them aren't that useless anymore.
Fixed a few types and names within the cyoa. Nightmares are now named The Consumed to match with Consumed Awakened.
>>
>>96758137
>removed Scorched Earth

I had to update my build after missing the missions section anyway, so thanks for giving me an excuse. So all Idolons are adaptive now? Kaoru’s Idolon is ancient and went from owner to owner in the past, so I don’t know how that would fit now.
>>
>>96758137
Oh hey a free buff to my idolonand maybe my archetype. Ill probably update if you let us know exactly what changes are so i dont have to rebuild from scratch
>>
>>96758137
>Nightmares are now named The Consumed to match with Consumed Awakened.
That's a bad change for our purposes considering that the name has already been used in writefags.

One of my upcoming campaigns is set in 1925 Eastern Europe. Parts of Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, eastern Prussia. Something of a sandbox hexcrawl. Magic and horror elements at the edge.

A little help would be appreciated.

Interesting encounters and adventures you would suggest (bonus points for not heavily combat focused stuff)?

I'll assume you're American or another firstie. Forget about everything you think you know about history. Europe, especially Eastern Europe was lagging some 50 years behind USA before the 2000s. The communist period was a giant leap forward for Yurop no matter what /pol/ says.
If you refuse to ask people interested in that era, at least know that Yurop was extremely rural and agricultural and little changed from medieval times to 1945. Each country had 1-3 normal cities with electricity and radio, maybe a few cars. Outisde of the cities there were still sick and dying, children working hard in the fields, people lived in single-room houses, there was no indoor plumbing, electricity... And one important thing: there were absolutely no shops, no bakeries, no consumerism. There were (and still are) market days. Each day the market would be held at another town, that was the only place you could buy groceries unless you traded with your neighbor. There was next to no money in circulation outside of cities. Money was used to pay taxes and fines. People were fined for pretty much anything EXCEPT FOR domestic abuse.
Literacy especially amongst women wasn't the standard. There were no cartoons, comics, newspapers. You only had the Bible and some classics. The only acceptable way to have fun was getting drunk.
Religion was very important. There were Protestants, Catholics and Orthodox. Countries weren't as homogenous as they are now. You had German villages, Jewish villages, Polish, Lithuanian, Ukrainian villages and they weren't friendly towards each other.
Don't forget some German or Russian WW1 veterans who stayed and settled. Oh, and some turned to banditry.
There should be some red scare going on in the background since the commies were plotting anywhere where there was industrialization or harsh treatment of minorities.

This greatly depends on what the snap actually does when it dusts people.
Doses one and two of the Hourai Elixir are fairly straightforward (immunity to poison/disease and agelessness, respectively), but the third does a couple important things in the course of making you immortal, because it's intended to be an absolute 'outlast the heat death of the universe' immortality:
>Deathlessness
Hourai immortals no longer have a concept of death. This is why Yukari (manipulating the border of life and death) and Yuyuko's ('invitation to death' which amounts to 'instant death, no saving throw') powers don't affect Mokou, and why Kaguya was exiled from the moon; the Lunarians exist in a state and environment perfectly balanced between life and death, and becoming a being of pure life tainted it.
>Inviolability of the soul
While they're still capable of taking damage to the body and feeling pain, the soul of a Hourai Immortal is an invulnerable, untouchable, zero-point energy source. When Mokou uses giant explosion attacks that make her disappear, she's completely incinerating her body and just popping back into existence a moment later.

It's not even a shitpost about the English Civil War, the Covenanters, or the Marquesses of Montrose, it's one anon ranting about how Celtic or not Scotland is

Cope? As in colper, from Old French? Hon, hon, hon! I see the Frenchman inside of you is trying to break free.

Redditors can only conceive of balance meaning "every class is equal is power at every moment in time and during every encounter."

Meanwhile AD&D wizards:
>d4 hp
>no armor, no weapons other than dagger and staff
>generally casting toward end of round and taking one hp of damage causes spell to be lost
>need speech and free hands AND material components
>must find spell to know it, don't just pick it. Means every wizard doesn't automatically use the same OP spells
>Vancian is far weaker than the flexibility of at-will spell selection (this is a good thing)
>actual attrition-based play rather than "I rest after every encounter and therefore begin every encounter with all my spells, tee hee!"
>Most importantly, and this rarely gets mentioned even by grognards: MAGIC RESISTANCE among high-level monsters.

Yeah, I'd say it was balanced.

I'm late to this thread but it's funny how many smooth-brains think OP is saying AD&D wizards were too constrained and therefore the balance was bad.
