The Mega trove has Hoplomachia in the "Perfect Captain" folder. Ancients folder has Macedonian-Punic Wars set from Crusader.

I have "Hoplite Warfare", it's mentioned in the screenshot the fella posted, and it's follow-up "Hellenistic Warfare" . Bought them in the 80's and I doubt they've aged well.

I'm a total luddite when it comes to computers but will give scanning them a go, if you're interested that is ; mind they're 40 year old.

GURPS is a modular, adaptable system, capable of running a wide range of characters, settings, and play styles, with a level of detail varying from lightweight to completely autistic.

I despise Sanity Points in games (IMO they tend to do to mental trauma what HP in DnD does to physical trauma, namely remove all tension because you can look at your sheet and see you're still 14.5 mentally scarring encounters before actually facing any consequences), so I just use Fright Checks as-is.

A maul (crushing) always gets a *1.5 wounding modifier to the neck (note that in GURPS 'damage' is the amount of damage rolled before deducting DR, 'wounding modifier' is a multiplier applied after DR, and 'injury' is the loss of HP after applying the wounding modifier; mixing this terminology up is common, but can result in confusion). No. The book actually does a really poor job of explaining this, but unless otherwise specified, 'rolling on a table' in GURPS means that you roll 3d and look up the result on said table.

No, a "Major Wound" is any HP loss that's greater than half a character's total HP. Which forces a stun/knockdown roll, roll vs HT or get stunned. Major wounds to the face or neck impose a penalty on this check, and a major wound to the skull an even more severe penalty. All a critical hit does by default is automatically hit a target.

Isn’t there an entire Stormlight novella about a sailing voyage? Pull from that. Parshmen pirates, turtle islands, oceanspren sprenning all over the place. Secret treasure (the treasure is the eternal wisdom of Joseph Smith).

Sanderson pulls half these books out of his ass. Write a few plot hooks, think about them for a few days, use one or two in the first session and go from there.

If your players are still fans of Sanderson after his last few books then they get excited by mystery box garbage, some real effort from you will blow them out of the water.

I was reading through first steps and skimmed through the stonewalkers campaign. It's so upsetting how many loose threads there are. The first steps is an optional level 0 module that helps you make a character through a session zero, while giving you a plot hook for the stonewalkers campaign. Do you think that class-based RPGs should try to accommodate the "generic wizard who does generic magical things" class concept, or do you think it is too generic an idea, and that the game should force the player to narrow it down?

Putting aside the very obvious example of D&D 5(.5)e and its wizard class, D&D 4e, Pathfinder 2e, and 13th Age 2e all have a wizard that specializes in a mix of raw damage blasting and hard-control debuffs (with the occasional buff). Daggerheart likewise has a wizard class. An indie title, level2janitor's Tactiquest, has the Arcanist as a catch-all magical caster with a broad repertoire of spells suitable for different occasions.

Other games have a different approach. Draw Steel has the elementalist, focused on the physicality of elemental magic; and the talent, a psionicist who specializes in more intangible effects like time manipulation and telepathy. Tom Abbadon's ICON has no "generic wizard who does generic magical things" in its noncombat classes or its combat classes, specifically to force the player to narrow the concept down, whether for noncombat functions or for tactical combat role.

I like this approach. Sometimes I might extend this to two Checks instead of just one. Using something like D&D 5e.14/5e.24 I would have it so they make a Perception Check and then follow it up with a Stealth check. The Perception check is to see if they notice any traps, guards, hidden alarms, and possibly pathways that could make scouting around harder or easier- then I could give them Neutral [If they succeed], Advantage [If they Critically Succeed], or Disadvantage if they fail] on their following Stealth check, determined by that prior roll.

Due to how Fumiko interacts with people, she may give an aloof and mindless air, but she is probably the second smartest member of the Fujiwara-Senki, and one of the most self-conscious and aware. It will be nice when Kaoru discovers that side of Fumiko.

Keep in mind that Kaoru has limited information about the Fujiwara Senki in particular and only speculates that they act together at all, so she’s bound to get things wrong because it’d be no fun if she knew everything about everyone right off the bat. You don't really need a basic kit if you already have paints, the GW paints you do have should tide you over as you replace the colors you need with new ones gradually. Unless you wanna just hard swap, but that can be expensive and only do it if you wanna.

can you explain how this would cause stylistic differences? the one thing I can think of is the attention span it requires. with airbrushing you need to budget enough time to at least do a single color for the entire kit or it's a waste of getting everything ready, but with brush painting you can work for 15 minutes or 5 hours and it doesn't make much difference.

Buy whatever you can get locally so you can buy the ones you need. Sticking to one paint brand is a meme, every range has their good and their bad performing paints. Paint bottles have just as many problems as paint pots do, just different. A gw paint pot never erupted paint like a volcano.
