Which rarity issues, the fact that there are 42 epics in a set of ~290 cards? Probably never. Pull rate of individual epic per box is about the same as magic, when you account for this being a larger than normal set. And the Chinese love to gamble.

I just hope they can drive the value into the chase cards to keep decks cheap, which seems to be the goal of most recently launched tcgs.
>>
>>96911369
No the issue that some packs are containing uncommons or commons in the rare slot.
They said that the overall rares per box are as intended so only single pack buyers are potentially getting screwed but still it's a pretty big issue.

I’ve been using the Greek and/or Norse gods in my own campaign settings, but I want to start making my own deities and pantheons going forward, if you have any advice, I’d love to hear it please. Same for anything you’re willing to say about your own gods and goddesses, or any art of gods or related entities like angels.

Remainder that harvest doesn't necessarily happen in fall. Spring wheat is generally harvested in august, so late summer. This is more a matter of flavour, but considering it's more a mediterrenean crop and that august is still very hot there, the association with the archetypal fall thing might not be optimal.

I don't think seasonal gods are too much to my taste (or at least they seem more "artificial" than what I tend to, basing them more on IRL gods), but that being said what about using them as emotional themes? Changeling the Lost associated each season to one feeling, spring being desire, summer wrath, fall fear and winter sorrow. It would depend on what you associate each season to, of course, maybe summer is about freedom and the ocean and... I don't know, fall is about culture and hard work.

I recently started reading the Cosmere books, thanks in part to the RPG my friend is interested in, and it got me thinking about the idea of gods that are fragments of a larger deity like the Shards, what are some other settings that manage to do a good job of handling the concept, and is there anything that I should keep in mind if I want to take that approach with my own pantheon?

Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to first decade, Gygaxian D&D, its more faithful modern clones, and content created specifically for use with them. Later editions (2e and newer) should be discussed elsewhere.

Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to Dungeons & Dragons played as intended and taught by its creators from 1974 to 1983 — less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching metaplots and a greater emphasis on player agency.

If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about: we'll be happy to help you get started. We also have two excellent beginner guides created by Anons with feedback from the thread, feel free to check them out for answers:

Random loot table for stealing + gold. if enough times passes, someone is gonna notice her or put the pieces together.

You don't have to explain who saw her or how they saw her. it could even be an invisisble person tailing her and watching her. But don't stop them from stealing. you can drop quest hooks OR CURSED ITEMS

For 5 creds more you get Mesh which is just a 5+ save without being situational. There is no reason to ever take Flak unless you have no armour and only 10 creds left to spend. Otherwise you take Mesh.
>>
>>96908770
If it isn't listed in the equipment in the Fighter's roster entry then check if they have any limitations on gear from the Trading Post. Usually everyone is able to get Wargear from there so it shouldn't be a problem. Mesh is Common meaning you don't even need to roll for its purchase or to specifically send someone to the TP as a post game action to buy it. You can just buy it any time you could normally buy gear for your Fighters. The only caveat is that technically you can't buy Common gear from the TP at gang creation without Arbitrator approval, but any sensible person isn't going to have issues with doing that. Otherwise just save the creds for the armour and buy it after the first game. As an aside when buying from the TP as the Seek Rare post game action you roll for rarity and apply all the relevant modifiers, and you are then able to buy as much as you want that is at that rarity or lower. There are some abilities and stuff that affects price of first bought when doing that for example though, but that doesn't prevent you from buying more. It only affects the price of the first one bought that action.

This is a very stupid theory.

You say that people "working 40K" quit because it's not lucrative enough but that people in the very same company working at SG are nevertheless lusting after "40K positions"

They would already know those positions are not lucrative. Furthermore, it's doubtful that the GW pay scale is simply tied to which studio you work in. It's far more likely that every studio has the same positions within it that earn the same pay. The main studio probably does have more of those positions, but that would be the chief difference.

So your claim is that people start working at SG, have all the info to determine that the job is not good, but still keep a fire burning in their heart to "work 40K". But the people who did work 40K cannot maintain that fire. Dumb stuff.
>>
>>96911114
>This is a very stupid theory.

That is because you assumed SG and GW 40k/AoS are the same, but they aren't. SG is Forgeworld, a subsidiary of GW with different leadership, budget and production line.

Yes the GW grass is greener than the Forgeworld grass, until they realized they had a family, they need food and not grass. I was going on a long rant about the history of Specialist Games revival since 2016 but there're no point. If you know, you know "trust me bruh".

But i'll say this : the releases of HH Age of Darkness has seemingly proved that GW has split Forgeworld/SG into 2 or 3 branchs now : one being HH/LI , two being TOW (or maybe it's the same division as HH/LI), and the other is "the rest of SG games". Yeah if i have to make a speculation "the rest of SG games" still sucks because likely these people are being shuffled around working on multiple games with completely different setting, deadline up the ass.
>>

>That is because you assumed SG and GW 40k/AoS are the same, but they aren't. SG is Forgeworld, a subsidiary of GW with different leadership, budget and production line.
FW got folded into GW proper years ago dude. There's still a dedicated specialist game team that handles stuff like Necromunda and Blood Bowl and TOW but they're directly under GW.

Cyberpunk 2020 is the second edition of the Cyberpunk TTRPG that focuses on simulation gameplay and has a black trenchcoat aesthetic.

Cyberpunk RED is the fourth edition of the Cyberpunk TTRPG that is set after Cyberpunk 2020 following the Fourth Corporate War, focuses on more balanced gameplay and is more streamlined but has less content.

GURPS is a modular, adaptable system, capable of running a wide range of characters, settings, and play styles, with a level of detail varying from lightweight to completely autistic.
Optional rules allow you to emulate different genres with a single system, or even switch genres within a single game.

A nearly complete archive of GURPS books can be found by using the image (follow the URL to get to a folder with some files, read the files to get to the archive). Never post direct links to the archive anywhere in plain text.

If you're wondering where to start:
- The Basic Set covers everything, including a lot of optional rules you probably won't use.
- A genre guide can be found in the archive, under Unofficial/GURPSgen. It tells you what extra books and articles you may find useful for many common genres.
- How To Be a GURPS GM is a good read even for players.
- GCS (gurpscharactersheet.com) is an excellent character-builder software, with page references to all the books and the option to export to both Foundry and Fantasy Grounds.

Thread question: What do you want there to be in the additional 27 pages of the new Basic Set?

This is making me wonder, how would you whip up an izuna drop in GURPS? Some kind of slam where you get bonus from the technique and skill bonuses?
>>
>>96910474
I'd say you'd start with Piledriver and add falling damage on top of the thrust+4 or thrust+2 at +2 per die done to the skull. The other big difference is that you start with an enemy in the air and the character must be able to get high enough to grab them. Getting the enemy into the air is left as an exercise for the player. Because the target is in the air, they cannot counter using a wrestling parry by pivoting unless they can fly or press against the air.
Defaults at -10 instead of -5.

Not really a made of win moment, but eh fuck it it's a story anyway

The group was trying to seize control of a ship (we had to negotiate with the AI in charge or delay it long enough for the specialist to lobotomise it) and it had ended badly with the security officer getting murdered and the rest of us nearly dying to the security systems when we pissed the AI off only for the tech guy to reboot it. At this point we were in control of the ship but there was some feuding between who was actually in charge now that we'd taken it, I was the captain who was gunning for command once the rest of the fleet got here, and the other guy was the Priest-representative (this wasn't 40k, but it's a broadly similar relationship between the navy and mechanicus when they find a space hulk) who didn't want the captain taking over (mostly because he had nearly fucked up the lobotomisation). There was also the newly promoted security officer who just wanted to do his job and did not want to get involved in a political feud outside his jurisdiction. Anyway, we're negotiating calmly in the captain's cabin, the priest is blaming me for nearly fucking up the lobotomy, I'm trying to sandbag my position for command while also trying to get rid of him because he has a point about my incompetence, and all the while the main fleet is getting closer and expects things to be ready for them to take formal control. The argument gradually escalates, and we're both trying to get the security officer onside because we both recognise that he'll give us more legitimacy if we want to arrest the other, until it boils over where the priest draws his gun on me, misses his shot, I knock the gun out of his hand and order his arrest for mutiny, which the security officer complies with. I then start gloating and plan to silence him permanently only for the security officer to arrest me for dereliction of duty, and then the orders come in saying that some random is going to be taking command of the ship.

Same. Most of my stories are boring, they're mostly "you had to be there" moments, like how the first real game I ran started by another player character unexpectedly framing the other player characters for murder, all done by pure happenstance thanks to the rolls of a "relationship matrix" aligning.

Yeah, mostly the houses and I guess the genetic lineages mattering (Clans) too. There's a Finnish RPG that's basically Dune + BT + 40k + I don't even know what thrown into the same bucket and mixed
>>
>>96902299
Read good scifi.
Dune is a great series. Stick to the ones that Frank wrote though. Also, get the Dune Encyclopedia.
Get and read the Foundation series by Isaac Asimov.
Another really good source for space feudalism is the early Star Wars books up until about the mid 90s. While most of it is Empire vs New Republic, there's lots of pieces of earlier times when it was a Feudal system with peerage. The galaxy wasn't a super state but a collection of kingdoms.
There's a lot of scifi written by good authors that touch on this as well. Look into Poul Anderson and Andre Norton.
Finally, pick up and read some actual modern medieval romance. My favorite author in this genre is Howard Pyle. I would recommend Otto of the Silver Hand and Men of Iron.

Are you looking for the aesthetic of medievel looking stuff in a sci-fi setting or just examples of different groups leveraging their resources and promises with each other?
>>

I was just going to recommend Poul Anderson myself! "The High Crusade" might be my favorite book, and it very much inspired my own science fiction setting. The primary alien threat are also inspired by his interpretation of Faerie from "The Broken Sword" and "Three Hearts and Three Lions," crossed with a sort of fractal extradimensional intelligence.
>>
>>96911002
Great minds think alike. Poul Anderson, Andre Norton, and Robert A. Heinlein are my favorite scifi authors.
My scifi setting is based on Dune (more Dune: Chapterhouse actually) and Destination Void by Herbert, Citizen of the Galaxy by Heinlein, and Zero Stone and Sargasso of Space by Norton. I don't have a setting alien enemy as such but rather four other aliens that humans just don't really know how to communicate with very well. Threats are usually other factions of humans and a rogue AI that humans can't get out of their networks.

Que Retardado Edition

>What is Trench Crusade?
An alternate weird history 28mm/32mm tabletop skirmish game still in a pre-release playtesting phase but with the full release slated for this year. Based on the art and lore of Mike Franchina, whose illustrations you may have seen floating around on /tg/ for a several years now, and designed by Tuomas Pirinen, one of the original creators of Mordheim. It's grimdark, it's visceral, it's awesome, and it's very Blanchitsu.

>What Trench Crusade is not
TC not an excuse for you to discuss IRL religion, history that didn't occur in the game, culture war shit, or discord bullshit on /tg/. Keep it on topic.

>What's the QRD on the background?
The Knights Templar turned heretic and opened the Gates of Hell when they took Jerusalem during the First Crusade. Over 800 years later the war is still ongoing as technology has developed to a pseudo diesel-punk WW1 standard and a third of Humanity has sided with the Infernal Princes.

>How do I get started?
All the files are free online, but are split between the website and the discord. They have all been collected here for your convenience:

Personally I'm just glad to see plastic kits are slowly happening, anyone melting down over it is presumably a 3djeet as far as I'm concerned

Making the STLs available to kickstarters is literally how Trench Crusade got so many backers. Without 3D printer kings subsidizing the rest of you assmad printerless poorfags it may never have gotten off the ground.

You’re welcome, printer-hating schizo.

Yeah you guys *clears throat* kickstarted it. Coining a phrase there LMAO LOL bear with me, like I'm using the metaphor of starting up a bike engine. You did that for an idea. And for your contribution you got everything you were promised. And now the people whose idea you kickstarted have a viable path forward into being a real ongoing concern that justifies itself, instead of becoming a forgotten one-and-done.

How would you incorporate this guy into a game? Print out his document and give it to the players? sauce for the pic:

>the Burnout.
Criminal contacts (and instincts?), doesn't look like a Fed, physically capable.
Most importantly: coped with something fucking crazy happening and responded by solving the problem instead of freaking out uselessly.
That's the person DG wants to send into something unknown and probably terrible.
Doesn't hurt that he's not a 'proper' asset so if he gets shredded it's no great loss.

>Shotgun: how does it work
The good ones give you a paragraph to explain what could/should happen, and then enough tools to let your players work through that. There's plenty of negative space to fill, but that should all come pretty naturally because it's mostly normal life bits.

>the Burnout.
Actually, just let him be a conspiracy theorist and invite his player to metagame wildly. His 'value' to his handlers is that he's already read in on all the conspiracy shit, but if he ever tells anyone he looks like a loon.
Bonus points for not using commonly-known spooky shit, or playing unconventional conspiracies or cryptids.

I'd probably have some really vague allusions to it, disappearances and the like, weird scrawls of some weirdly shaped thing that seemed very hastily made, etc. The players would have to avoid learning too much whilst also still trying to find a way to get rid of or entrap it.

Finally finished reading the copy of Noctuary and Spectral Link I picked up last year. Ligotti is always dense but I was really sucked in with the final story The Small People.
I pictured them as these little mini fig people or those wooden modeling dolls but flesh but no apparently they're disgusting veiny creeps. Still, a pretty interesting concept if you just look at it surface level.
These entirely unexplainable creatures that mimic humanity and are constantly moving 'Small Country' around leaving areas no human can approach due to an inexplicable distaste for anything to do with them.
